Vatican [Open]
Once Atom had read the initial comm post, he headed over to the closest place where he thought people would be -- the Vatican, once converted into a fortress against outside attack. It had since been mostly restored to its original state, but some fortifications still remained -- hopefully, some food and supplies, too. He'd heard people had used it as a safe area before, so maybe some of them would head there now. As he touched down within its limits, his rocket boosters kicked off. His footsteps seemed to echo through the tall construction as he walked along the paved stone... but for now, he seemed to be alone, in the midst of dead silence.
Or was he?
"Hello?" he called. "Is anyone there? Does anyone need help?"
[Robutts will be forthcoming 83. I'll bring some Terminators, but if anyone else could NPC some other robots, that'd be great!
P.S. I will be waiting for more people to tag in before I add robots.]

Yes. He was a robot.

"...So robot kid, how do you feel about SHODAN?"
If this computer was about to make him have to fight something that looked like a kid he was just...
he was just...
Hell if he knew. Going to quit or something. However you quit at this, he was going to figure out.

On Atom's world, it was exceedingly rare for a robot to be able to hurt a human. This suggested to him that the robots threatening them had been reprogrammed somehow, their limits overridden to make them mere drones. In which case SHODAN must be the one in charge, and therefore an extremely advanced AI in her own right. Advanced or not, though, hurting humans was wrong. Reprogramming robots, overriding their personalities, erasing what made them them -- that was wrong, too.
"Maybe she has a reason for doing what she's doing. Maybe we can stop her and convince her she's wrong." Advanced AIs didn't simply kill for no reason, no matter how random their actions might seem.

"She's crazy. She's GLaDOS on steroids. I am pretty sure there is no talking to this thing and I for one am scared."

"Look. That's awesome and all but right now this is just facts. If you're not with them then we're cool. Before we do anything like talking to psychotic computer bitches we need to make sure nothing is going to stab us in the face with a laser."

"You go hide," he said. "I'll protect this place."

even if Grif was a big mean jerk >8("I'll be fine."

He was a kid. Or at least, he looked like a kid. Grif was the king of the lazy jackasses, but even he had a few things he had to put his foot down on.
"You can't be in two places at once," he lied. "And besides, I know my way around."

Sorry, Grif. You just don't look like a very reliable guy.
