Team Alpha: Awesome or Awesome? [Locked to Team Alpha]

Worf paced in the dining hall, waiting (with some impatience) for the team under his command to arrive. He was aggravated by the disrespect shown earlier by one Ron Stoppable and was concerned that the same flippant attitude would permeate the team. He would have to ensure that such a thing did not happen. A glance towards the entrance and a firm nod is the only greeting the first arrivals receive.

< He thinks very highly of you, > Ax said. Which was a great deal of understatement. He had heard a great deal about Loren from Elfangor since he had podpopped and Ax and Tobias had revealed that they were aware that he was Tobias' father.

< It is very good to meet you too. >

Pavel was running late. Not that he ever missed his shifts on the bridge but trying to catalog things in the lab to get started on working on a theoretical transporter for the ship was eating at him. It was the sort of job that kept a person from sleeping unless Stacey decided to step in and make them sleep.

Skidding to a halt, or trying to, the young Starfleet Ensign all but blushed a bright shade of red. "Ah.. I am sorry if I am late. Zhere vas much to do in zhe lab.."

Poor excuse, Pavel. Poor excuse.

Whatever Chekov might say was lost the instant he spotted the Klingon. His jaw dropped, his hand instantly reaching for a phaser that wasn't at his side. In 2258 they had both the Romulans and Klingons to deal with. Seeing one here? Not so good.

Muttering something in Russian he pointed a finger at Worf trying to hide the fact that he was still a youth and not a Starfleet Ensign. "I vas not avare zhat zhere vas Klingons board zhis wessel."

And he was pretty darn sure the Captain didn't either! And he was their team leader? Pavel could become adjusted to it if he had to but right now he had a whole lot more questions than he thought he would.

Loren was about to snap at Worf about how she wasn't in the military and this was the first time she'd met her future brother in law when Chekov had a fit.

"Hey calm down, he's not a Klingon." Chekov, wasn't he from...

Oh this was weird.

"Uh, are you?" Loren asked Worf.

There were many non-Terran races in Starfleet and Pavel served with a good number of them aboard the Enterprise. He was quite sure even in the haste to get new applicants that there were no Klingons on Academy or ship rosters that weren't considered prisoners in some way. Though Pavel was also quite sure he had never heard of Deep Space Nine. In a very, very odd way he wished that he had Spock with him right then to explain things in his usual highly logical sense of understanding.

Setting his jaw a little the Ensign gave Worf a little studying gaze. "Understood, Lieuzenant-Commander Vorf." My what an interesting future Starfleet seemed to have.

< He is indeed a Klingon, > Ax said in private thought-speech to Loren. Because the person in question was also their commanding officer, Ax did not elaborate that he knew because Klingons looked like Ongachic females. He had learned that much from the movie that Marco and Prince Jake had taken him to see, before he'd gotten distracted by the candy that previous members of the audience had left on the floor.

Ah well, considering how cheap the effects were for Star Trek she shouldn't be surprised.

"Have you seen Tobias?" Loren asked Ax. "And am I the only person here who hasn't been in the military?"

[identity profile] potentialmonkey.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I haven't!" Ron points out.

[identity profile] visserbasher.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Except for him." Loren muttered under her breath at Ron's response. "Mister Worf, no offense but I didn't sign up for drill camp. We might be in danger but there's no reason we can't at least get to know each other." Team bonding was good as her softball coach used to say.

This was going to be a fun team, Loren could tell.

"I'm Loren. I don't really have any skills but I can hold my own in a fight if I have back up, just ask Aximili's brother."

[identity profile] potentialmonkey.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Ron Stoppable, integral member, usually as bad guy distracting back-up, of Team Possible, the most awesome team of world-saving tee heroes this side of the multiverse. So yes, I can follow orders. Also kinda of the chosen one of a prophecy that involves my ability to call on Mystical Monkey Powers that let me use mad monkey kung-fu skills along with super strength. And this?" Ron says, pointing at the rodent on his shoulder. "Is my little naked mole rat buddy Rufus."

Ax had been attempting to contact Tobias via private thought-speak, so he only winced a little when Loren talked back to their commanding officer. Admittedly, she had a point about "not signing up for drill camp", and the Animorphs talked back to Prince Jake a great deal, but Lieutenant-Commander Worf didn't seem remotely like Prince Jake.

< My name is Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill, although I also answer to Ax, > he said, one stalk-eye swiveling sheepishly in Loren's direction. < I am capable of copying the DNA of any living creature I touch and taking their form for up to two Earth hours. I have a wide variety of morphs currently available, and I am also adept at tail-fighting, piloting space ships, and guerrilla warfare. >

Tobias made it in late. he was listening as he came in, then introduced himself.

< Just don't let him near a cinnamon bun. > he joked. < Anyway, I'm Tobias Fangor...sorry I'm late. I bascially have the same ability he does, although with a little less tail fighting and space ship piloting. I'm good at aerial coverage though. And my talons leave a pretty mean gash when I use them right. >

Billy listened intently, mentally noted all the others' abilities, and spoke next.

"Billy Cranston. I work primarily in the engineering department. Medical equipment, communications devices, weapons, and collection equipment are among the things we've built." Good so far.

"You'd probably never believe it, but I served my hometown as a part-time superhero. Stacy currently possesses the device storing my powers and only allows me to carry it when she wills it, so I operate under the assumption that I'll be dealing with dangerous situations without access to my powers."

He sucked in a quick breath and continued. "I compensate by training in my few spare hours, though scientific pursuits remain my forte---which isn't to say that I always succeed. My insatiable curiosity has been a fatal flaw at times; therefore I strive to utilize caution in our missions."

He could've just said 'I'm sorry I almost killed us by getting too friendly with the hallucinogenic plants, Commander, and I won't make similar stupid mistakes here if I can help it', but that would be the easy road.

It was an interesting crew so far. The only person he really knew was Billy whom he gave a friendly smile toward. When it was his turn for introductions the youth quietly cleared his throat. "I am Ensign Pavel Chekov of Starfleet and zee USS Enterprise. Zhere I am one of two nawigators zrained in handling all classes of Federation ships zhough I specialize in Constitution class wessels."

"At zee Academy," he continued trying not to shift on his feet, "I vas top of my class in stellar cartography and zransporter zheory." Doing the work and explaining things was so much more simple than introducing ones self! "I am also quite skilled in advanced zheoretical physics. Um.. aside from zhat I know basic combat, first aid, and other skills required of all members of Starfleet."

[identity profile] mynameisax.livejournal.com 2009-07-19 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
< No, Lieutenant-Commander. >

It was easy for Ax to slip back into military behavior. Of course, that was technically where he belonged. He was an aristh, he had "signed up for drill camp".

Maybe the structure would help remind him of that.

"None from me, sir." See, Loren could be respectful.

< You should meet my friend Marco. > Tobias commented. < He can do monkey too, extremely well. > Tobias thought it would be rather interesting if Marco got podpopped eventually.

"It's just monkey martial arts. Anything else would just be wrongsick."

[identity profile] tobiasf.livejournal.com 2009-07-22 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
< He sort of turns into a monkey...or gorilla, actually. He hates being called a monkey. > Tobias recalled Marco describing one of his incidents and going "I'll give you monkey!" He missed the others more as he talked.
