On your broomsticks! [OPEN]

Following the instructions given to him by crew members here and there, Cedric stepped through a green archway tucked on a corner of the fifth floor and entered a grey void. He closed his eyes, concentrating on the sort of place that would be perfect for a day of flying. He imagined a bright grassy plain, a large lake, and a forest off to the side. Vague memories turned into vivid images surrounding him, so thoroughly convincing that he really believed he'd been taken from the ship and placed on a field back on Earth. It was quite a convincing illusion
.
All it needed now was the key piece: a group of brooms. He thought for a moment on which brooms to provide them with. Firebolts were the world standard, but he'd never known one well enough to be able to picture it accurately. The school brooms, Shooting Stars, were nice and safe for new riders but not quite reliable. In the end, he knew his own broom best: a sleek Nimbus 2001, gifted by his father. As long as he instructed the fliers to go slowly, they should be safe on those brooms.

Visitors would find Cedric side-mounted on a broom in his black and yellow Quidditch robes, gliding just slightly over the grass. As soon as he spotted them, he'd greet them enthusiastically and move to touch down. "Hi!"

((ooc: wide open for everyone to join in! We'll be doing some group exercises too, so thread around! Fly as a group when you're ready!))

Negi pumped his hand enthusiastically. "Negi, from Wales. Nice to meet a fellow isles dweller."

"I just had to come by and see this for myself. Our people still use brooms back home but they're more common in the magic world."

"No, not Hogwarts. My world's separate from yours from what I figure. I went to the Meridiana Magical Academy." explained Negi. "Professor Lupin and I got to talking a while ago and we compared spells and the such."

"That's right," said Negi, nodding. "It's kind of like wands but we can use them as multipurpose tools, such as to fly, and channel magic. Though I usually use this ring instead." And he held up the ring with the latin scrawled across the front.

He nodded. "And I heard your Ministry likes to keep the existence of magic under wraps like mine does. Though mine is a little less stringent in some ways because of the way magic serves to cloak a lot of what we do back home."

"Ah it's basically an enchantment, built into the ring. Inscribed in Latin, it functions like a wand, and allows me to use my magic when separated from my staff. The ring is made up of various materials and gold to overlay it since it's a conductor of magical energies." explained Negi. "Basically it's a wand-in-a-ring, and acts as my focus."

"Same. There's some things that just have to come out in a place like this," said Negi, shaking his head in amsement.

"Graduated, top of my class. I've been placed in Mahora Academy as a teacher." answered Negi, waiting for the surprise to settle in.

"Believe me, I'm only 10. Maybe 12 due to the time spent here and in training in specialized time-compressed areas." said Negi. "But I started school around five and then I did my best to graduate at an early age."

"Ah well, it's said that I'm a genius of hard work. I'm better off researching things than anything else," admitted Negi, rubbing his head. "I mean, I'm good at spells and combat, but designing spells is what I do best."

Negi rubbed his head, a little embarrassed he said all of that but nodded at Cedric's offer. Unslinging his staff, he grinned. "I'm no slouch. Shall we?"

And he kicked off, hovering there with a grin on his face.

"All right, let's go then!" And kicking off, he shot off across the field.

"Pretty good!" Impressed by the loop, Negi, pushed up and assumed a surfing position, twisting into a barrel roll without losing grip while standing on it. "Have you tried that yet?"

"That's really something! I've never seen someone do that before!" laughed Negi, chasing after him and settling back onto his staff to catch up to Cedric. "It's really amazing how well it works for you here as well!"

"I could see about building one. It might take a while but I've done my research into broom-making," said Negi, catching up to him. "If you're interested of course."

"Ah heh, I'm not actually a master of everything, just a couple of things. I'm sure with the right materials and the right spells and enchantments, we could get it to fly fairly easily. It'll just take some research. There's a lot of different spellbooks in the library. Generic ones, some from my own home, etcetra." answered Negi, skimming the water as well.

"The media library has a lot of material. Sometimes it has television shows from different source worlds, but a lot of times it has generic material such as books, stories, and other research papers that were preserved." explained Negi. "I'm sure we can find some similarities."

"Ah, well I'm a teacher actually, a Professor at Mahora Academy in Japan. It's actually kind of like a mundane-magical school, as there's teachers of all kinds, both magical and non-magical." explained Negi. "I'm in charge of 3-A, a class in the girls school."
