Teams and How Not To Kill Them [Team Lima Only]

If he's going to hold a team meeting it seems reasonable to try to make it as nice a meeting as possible, so he's taken over one of the sensoriums so that they can have couches.

...well okay the room is actually just his office back home with some couches ADDED, but they are still comfortable places to sit. There's also juice and cookies!

Mostly he just wants to get a handle on who all is under his intermittent command here when it comes to the missions. It's not going to do him any good to have a team if he doesn't have a handle on their abilities.

Ninjas are trained to work solo with a unified style that lets some missions be handled in pairs or fours. This means that, well, the Doc isn't really much of a 'large group' strategist. In fact his past attempts at planning non-solo missions have gone over in some spectacularly terrible ways. ~~But hey, that plane thing was soooo Dad's fault, seriously~~.

For right now he has to at least try, though.

He munches on a cookie and waits.

Robert was, sadly, late. He didn't mean to be, of course but little things like getting lost in a living spaceship will do that to you. He hurried inside, happy that at least he wasn't going to get a chewing out. The man nodded awkwardly to others, unslinging his rifle and resting it against one wall as he appraised them.

Two guys in masks and four children. Well. This was off to a great start, wasn't it?

"Hi everybody, sorry I'm late. Please, continue."

The Doc waves a quick hello to Robert - "No problem we're still just starting." - and gives Zuko all his attention for a moment, bowing back to him respectfully.

"Thanks for starting us off Zuko. I will have to ask you exactly what Firebending entails later but for now I will just safely assume it involves fire and we'll come back to it."

"I might as well go next then I guess."

He put a hand to his chest demonstratively (reminded with a touch that his tie probably looked stupid against the plant suit).

"I'm Doctor McNinja and I am - as the name implies - a doctor and a ninja. You can just call me Doc, whatever works for you. I have my own practice in Cumberland, Maryland and extensive training in medicine, combat and espionage. I've had a sidekick for a while but never really a whole team to command for an extended period of time so this'll be a little new to me but I'm sure we'll figure it out.

He jerked a thumb at the OTHER ninja in the room.

"As you may have gathered from the family resemblance, this is my younger brother." he raised a brow at Sean. "You wanna go next?"

"Sure, bro," Dark Smoke Puncher said and sat up.

"Yo, check it, the name's Dark Smoke Puncher of the McNinja clan. Espionage and combat are a cinch when I am it, and when it comes to masks and facades, I can do them like I've been them since I was a kid. Though they're whack, I can cross wire and hot wire any technological thing to do my biddin', word," he rapped.

Yes, he rapped it.

Including gangsta signs.

Feel free to die of embarrassment Doc.

......face in hands. So much face in hands.

"Okay, first team rule. No rapping during meetings. Or at any other team-related time."

"...Your name is Dark. Smoke. Puncher."

Yeah, this would be the point where Danny just starts laughing his head off.

"Yo, that whack, bro," Dark Smoke Puncher said to Doc.

On the inside, however? Sean was thinking more along the lines of 'oh thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for giving me an excuse never to do it again!'

Then he looked at Danny. Though he kind of liked his ninja name. Because, well, damn it, it was his NINJA NAME! "Danny Phantom, dawg? Ain't your real name Fenton? With the clone named Danielle. You don't have no right to be dissin' my ninja name, yo, till you get some creativity, fer shizzle."

Why, yes, he'd been collecting some basic data on people.

"Oh no. I picked Danny Phantom after five seconds of brainstorming just so people would stop calling me "Inviso-Bill". You, however, probably spent days on coming up with a name."

"What's wrong with Dark Smoke Puncher?" Dani asked. Considering she was the only one who wasn't called 'clone' with a number attached, her concept of names is limited.

"Dude, a ninja name has to be mysterious and badass, hear what I'm sayin'. You should hear what bro's was. His name was awesome, yo," Dark Smoke Puncher said.

All ninjas name were dorky. It was a rule.

"Well, if it is, you completely failed at it."

Robert interrupted, waving a hand to catch the groups attention.

"Ahem. If you kids are done arguing about whose nickname is better, I'll introduce myself." A pause to insure there are no objections before he speaks.

"I'm Robert Donovan, and I'm a private detective. I was a cop for fifteen years before that, and in the army before that. I know small unit tactics, I'm darn good at investigations, if I say so myself. I'm a decent shot with a pistol and rifle, I can chuck grenades, fire a machine gun and drive a jeep. And I'm a combat vet." He doesn't particularly like saying it, but if they're supposed to list all their useful skills...

"Welcome, Robert, since I didn't greet you before," Dani said, smiling at Robert.

"We'll go next, I guess?" Dani said, glancing at Danny. "Well, I'm Dani, don't ever call me Danielle. You can call me D though so Danny and I won't get confused," Dani started. "And yeah, I'm his clone, long story for the whole different gender and age thing."

"So, we're both halfas, which is a half ghost, half human. Which is, yes, scientifically possible. This is ghost form," Dani said before shifting to her human form with a flash of white rings around her. "And this is human. As ghosts, we get general ghost abilities. What I can do so far is intangibility, invisibility, flight, not really needing to breathe, sense other ghosts, overshadowing, which is like possession, and ecto blasts. Which can differ in strength and I can get them from hands and feet." She explained.

She paused for a moment. "Um, I also know a lot of biology and got a pretty good general knowledge on ectology." Just in case they needed to know, so she said it.

Danny breaks from his argument with the younger McNinja to list off his own abilities

"I'm Danny, and like Dani said, we're half-ghost. I can do every thing she can, though somewhat more powerful since I've had my powers longer, plus I can create ectoplasm-based force-fields, turn other people intangible and invisible, do a Ghostly Wail, which is sort of like getting hit by a freight-train carrying 100 amplifiers all playing the test of the Emergency Broadcast System if you're on the other end of it, and I have ice powers." The ghost-boy pauses here.

"Also, I can make temporary copies of myself, and create solid objects out of ectoplasm, but I haven't quite mastered those powers yet."

Mai has been silently death-glaring at Dani for most of the meeting, ever since her comment about Zuko's scar. She's also been half-listening to everyone else, but she's sure she can remember most of it for later. She quietly raises a hand and coughs, "I'm pretty agile, good at acrobatics and... fighting, I guess. And I can hit just about anything with a thrown knife."

And back to brooding silence and death-glaring at Dani.

Personally, Dani couldn't tell a different between Mai's expressions at this point. Not that she would get why either Fire Nation person was angry.

After all, she had been talking about Zuko being slimy, thus the clean up after the pod pop was a hack job as in bad job. It's not like she could talk about odd facial features. Her eyes had been glowing green just a minute ago.

"You know...except for Mai and Robert, we could just disappear it seems," she commented. It was something she'd notice. Two official ninjas, two ghosts, Zuko sneaking. They could mostly just be gone in a second.

"I can sneak if I have to."

Mai waves a hand in Dani's direction.

"So it's just Robert's that out of luck," Dani said. "Well, I guess Danny or I could make him invisible too if we can reach him fast enough."

Robert chuckles.

"Part of being a good infantryman is knowing how not to be seen. I'm rusty, but I think some time in the sensoriums would help."

. . . Spirit Powers, that was what Zuko picked up from the Phantoms. Inexplicable, strange superpowers, and Dani was some sort of . . . whatever a clone was. He had no idea, and he didn't care much. "Copy," or something. Maybe she was one of those copies Danny mentioned earlier gone rogue.

Zuko thought about making a joke about using Robert as distractions - but no, that was off-color, and on the off chance that it WAS funny, he didn't feel like joking around with these people. Danny and Dark Smoke Puncher joked way too much as it was. He had a feeling that was going to get old fast.

He did pick up on Mai's glare in Dani's direction. That was endearing, but Zuko considered pretty much everything about Mai endearing. Indignance on his part was just another one of the things he liked that she did.

. . . hah, that almost sounded dirty.

"So this is the espionage team, basically."

"Looks like it." McNinja said thoughtfully. This was quite the roster. Whoever set up this team SO knew what to set him up with.

"This is going to be SO much easier than teaching a bandito how to be stealthy!"

All the times he'd had to remind Gordito of why spurs were 'not cool'....

"Just gotta be sure everyone can hide quick enough when things go whack, yo," Dark Smoke Puncher agreed with a nod. He saw some of Gordito's sneaking skills. Definitely a lot easier if people already knew how to do it decently.
