Magic and Mystical: Interviews

Nothing felt quite so good as to have a project on its way. If this one features slightly less graphical and arbitrary annihilation of all sense and reason to the universe so that his will and desires may stand paramount in all creation, it's no less important or relevant for all that.

Aibghalien has set aside a few of what appear to be practice areas for interviews and assessments, hoping these are large enough to use for any demonstrations necessary. If not, the courtyard outside allows plenty of space for particularly pyrotechnical displays.

[OOC: Those willing to help interview may start their own threads for people to comment on (but Abby would like to get your own lists!) If your character would have come, but you aren't able to thread it out for any reason, just put the information in the Handwaved thread for later compilation.]

"That's correct," said Fuu. "Is there a form to fill out, or should I simply list them orally?"

A thought occurred to her--would Windam count? Fuu wasn't sure she wanted to share his existence with too many people. But he was, strictly speaking, not hers.

"All right." Fuu clasped her hands in front of her. "My powers are based on the wind. Primarily, I use them for defense and attack, but my first spell was a healing technique. It can heal wounds, but not illnesses. Guardian Wind creates a shield of wind that can deflect physical attacks, and Binding Wind prevents someone from moving or attacking. The last spell I currently have is Emerald Typhoon, which is an attack spell."

"It was acquired, fairly recently--relative to my waking on the ship, that is." But Aibghalien's question did bring up another point. Fuu could use magic here, though she could not on Earth. But in Cephiro, the strength of her magic was controlled by her will... not because of her own spirit, but because of the way that world worked. Would it be the same here? "I seem to invent new spells when there is a pressing need. And the strength of my spells is based on my desire to make them strong... it did, at least. I'm not sure how true that is aboard Stacy."

Oh, dear... well, she supposed such a question was natural. She wondered if it was all right to conceal parts of what had happened. It might get her into trouble later on, in one way or another.

"I was transported to a land where I gained the nascent ability to perform magic," she said. "After that, a mage fully awakened that capability. It was during a battle, so my first magic was a healing spell."

Very true! But Fuu was dancing a dance inside her head around finding a place to be useful on the ship while trying to keep as far away as she could from explaining things like why she had needed magic... without being rude.

The question made her stop and think for a long moment. "I haven't, but so far my spellcasting has only been for practice purposes. I haven't needed to test its strength against anyone else yet."
