Hey, what's not to like about a planet called 'Happy Happy Fun World'?

[[ooc: Time for Shore Leave! Post reactions to the announcement here]]

"Happy. Happy. Fun World. Good god. It sounds like bad engrish gone amuck," Mindy mumbled to herself. "Oh well. I've done my training for the past few days. I guess I DID tell Morgan I'd relax."

That, and she could use this opportunity to maybe go somewhere with Ruffnut. It was CALLED Happy happy fun world. Maybe it was like Coney Island? They could find something to do together.

She started getting ready.

...

"Wait, what was that about popcorn?"

"What's popcorn?" Ruff seemed to materialize out of thin air behind Mindy in one of those rare occasions where the trained assassin didn't hear her coming.

"...Happy Happy Fun World?" It reminded Aftran of that cartoon Karen's parents never let her watch, and that annoyingly addictive song, "Happy Happy Joy Joy".

"That sounds like fun! Have you ever heard of it?" Standing beside Aftran, Karen tugged on her sleeve and looked up.

Aftran glanced down at the smaller girl. "Not until today." She wanted to warn Karen to keep her guard up, but she honestly didn't have the heart to hurt the girl's feelings these days. Not after all she'd been through.

Besides, Stacy had said it was shore leave...

"That can't be what it's really called." Daniel muttered. He took of his glasses, cleaned them, and checked again. The words didn't change. Happy Happy Fun World blazed proudly on the screens, followed by miscellaneous information on the planet. Maybe Stacy's screens malfunctioned. At least, he hoped so, because who named their homeworld that kind of name.

Still, another shore leave, and another chance to get out, stretch his legs without an actual mission. Beggars couldn't be choosers.

"It's something you get when you pop kernels," Mindy said, thinking about the treat. "It's kinda hard to describe its sort of a crunchy, fluffy snack, and you can have it in all of these different flavors and stuff. It's actually pretty good."

She patted Ruffnut's back. She had heard about the recent fall out and was concerned. "You all right Ruff?"

[identity profile] gunspluscells.livejournal.com 2011-10-11 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"You have got to be kidding me."

Aya was just staring at one of the screens in utter disbelief.

"Who names a planet 'Happy Happy Fun World'?" she protested, folding her arms over her chest. "And popcorn? This is some kind of joke, right? I get half the people I meet saying that being on this ship is dangerous and then I get told about... about... POPCORN being the most dangerous thing I have to encounter right off the bad?"

She isn't a happy one.

[identity profile] potentialmonkey.livejournal.com 2011-10-11 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Lady, It's shore leave. It's not supposed to sound dangerous. But the first time we had shore leave was the first time we faced the Ohm, and last time we had it people's ages started being reversed towards non-existence. So if this one ends up being stress free? It'll be a freakin' miracle"

[identity profile] tetsuwan-atom.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Atom loved amusement parks! Except when he was sold to them, that wasn't so great.

"Sounds like a nice place."
punchedoutdestiny: (...wut.)

[personal profile] punchedoutdestiny 2011-10-12 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
"...what kind of planet is this?" Man what the heck is an amusement park? Simon don't know.

"A dangerous one, no doubt," Billy said grouchily. "No mission ever seems to go well for us, no matter how innocuous it appears at first."

He was just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

[personal profile] punchedoutdestiny 2011-10-12 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"A place like this, though? Granted...I'm not sure what it is. Dunno how it could be a danger."

Even as underhanded as his opponents before waking up here had been, they hadn't turned enough innocent things into dangers to make him suspicious.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"That is pretty dumb name..." Jr. agreed. But, sorry Aya, the rest of this sounded awesome.

"But hey! It's basically shore leave! It's been a while since we got a relax."
morphitudinous: (Repairs in progress)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2011-10-12 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd like to think it wasn't possible," Billy sighed, "but every past shore leave has ended badly. The first time, we were attacked. The second time, a good portion of the crew was cursed. It's not necessarily going to happen this time, but I recommend being careful. Try traveling with someone."

[identity profile] gunspluscells.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Aya just takes a minute to look at you Ron. You've pretty much colluded on her point that this was pretty dangerous no matter how you look at it.

"Third time lucky, eh?"

[identity profile] gunspluscells.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"You sure it's actually time to relax, Jr.?" She continues frowning as the picture of the planet came up on screen.

"I mean, Happy Happy Fun World..." Aya genuinely looks confused and frustrated. "What in the actual fuck."

[identity profile] supersonicracer.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sonic couldn't believe his ears. An amusement park planet? Part of him wanted to know if this was some sort of Eggman trap (hey, he could do it!), but thought otherwise. Who knew? Maybe it would be a lot of fun.

And he might be able to spend a lot more time there, unlike Casino Night Zone. And Carnival Night. And Casinopolis. And Twinkle Park. And...

[identity profile] saint-sami.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"It does, doesn't it?" Sasami said, having watched the whole thing.

"I wonder if it'll be better than Awesome World..."

oh my god pretend I didn't just journalfail

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, let's keep our guard up just in case this turns into one of those looks good on the outside, but look inside and everything starts to go to crap things."

He looked back to the screen. "But so far? It looks like it's gonna be fun!"

[identity profile] expendable-mind.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Splicer takes a long drag from nearby before making the cigarette get consumed in a small blaze.

"Sometimes we're lucky, and we get a nice shore leave with no danger or mishaps and shit. I for one am looking forward to a bit of down time on a planet and not have swarms of enemies covering it."

Not only now, but even back in his world, it was a common enough thing for him.

He finally turned from the screen and smiled at her. "You could always stay on board, though I'd suggest against it. We don't get these often and it's never a bad thing to relax and such in a different environment."

Granted, he knew that she just arrived recently, but this planet would surely be different from her own.

[identity profile] tetsuwan-atom.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
He grinned. "Maybe! It'd be cool if the whole planet were a big park!"

Of course, he doubted that was the case, but...

pffft I'm not even getting notifs yet

[identity profile] gunspluscells.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure whether you're a kid or not at this point."

It was half a joke, half serious. Jr. was terribly excited and Aya was genuinely willing herself to feel something that wasn't utter frustration. But I guess looking at it, if they spent most of their time fighting danger than any time off was good.

That didn't mean it sat well with Aya though.

[identity profile] gunspluscells.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I can't... deal with this ship. Not yet. Not fully."

She sighed and tried to relax, her shoulders falling as the air left her body.

"So I'll go. I'll go to this... shore leave and see what it does to me."

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
He snickered. "Hey, once you've been stuck on this ship for so long where most planets we stop off on are just missions that end up costing arms, legs and whole lots of stress, stops like this are a godsend!"

He rubbed a finger over his chin. "I wonder what they mean about the popcorn, though..."

[identity profile] dhianeila.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
It was a great way to relax after the stress that had been Lirath, Dhianeila thought. She stood alongside the rest of the crew on the Obs Deck, though as usual, she wasn't actually there but there via her psychic projection. And much like the Obs Deck, the planet's sights would also be filled with crowds, so she had just planned to enjoy it that way.

"That's quite a cute name!"

[identity profile] animus-vessel.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shion is staring at a nearby screen, also somewhat in disbelief at the name. It sounded more like kids had named it.

"If it's a joke, it's not a very funny one. I wonder if it's a malfunction..."
