Look at you, soaring through the air. Like an eagle. Piloting a blimp. [OPEN]
To say Chell had been shaken up by Stacy's "gift" would be an understatement. First, Cave Johnson, in the flesh, then the mysterious Other Person, the one who'd led her to GLaDOS' chamber that first time, the one who scrawled cryptic messages in back rooms and painted all those murals of her. Knowing there had been another living person running through the bowels of Aperture the same time she was fighting for her life was a shock, to say nothing of actually meeting the man. It was only a day, but it was enough. She needed to get her mind elsewhere before it wandered to unsavory places. Well. More unsavory places than it had already been.
Generally, when she spent time in the Sensoriums, it was in an imagined outdoor landscape, a yellow wheat field with a brilliant blue sky and perfect white clouds--the opposite of the lab in which she'd been imprisoned, almost foreign. Now, however, Chell was looking for familiarity, and as much as she hated the test chambers, hated what they reminded her of, she had to admit they were the most familiar thing she knew. And on a place like Stacy, familiarity was comfort, especially in the wake of recent events.
And it was good to have a portal device again, even if it was only imaginary. She just plain felt safer with one, the weight of it in her hands and the knowledge that it could provide life-saving escape if the need arose.
Chell had always thought that GLaDOS' puzzles would be fun without the presence of a homicidal robot or two after her blood, and so she found an unoccupied Sensorium and started devising a few of her own, ones with lots of sheer drops and high-mounted panels and aerial faith plates, perfect for launching herself from ledge to ledge around the chamber. If she closed her eyes it was almost like flying.

Zouichi launched himself over the long gap to the next platform. A gap insurmountable for a human (well, without equipment, anyway), but perfectly surmountable for him.
...Yes, he was cheating.

With her gun aimed at where he'd landed, she pulled the trigger of her gun, a blue oval opening on the wall next to him. The orange went right under her feet. VWOOP. Hello there!
no subject
"What is that? Some sort of... gate mechanism?"
He'd never seen anything quite like it (and he'd seen quite a few unusual pieces of technology in his time).
no subject
A blue portal on the closest white panel, an orange portal on the wall a few feet down.
Chell took a step back and raised a finger to indicate that he should play close attention. Then, slowly, she stuck her arm in the blue portal and waved at her company from the orange one.
SCIENCE.
no subject
He approached the blue portal slowly, then stuck his hand through. It came out of the orange one, but his arm felt no different. It was just... in a different part of the room. Somehow.
"So this is the kind of experiment you were talking about? I've heard about space-warping technology, but..."
no subject
Chell's face broke into wide grin at Zouichi's reaction and she ducked into the glowing blue oval, emerging instantly from its counterpart, gesturing for him to follow.
Even if the gun was developed by a morally reprehensible company with little to no ethics protocol, you had to admit it was cool.

Plus, it wasn't based on magic (at least, not that he could tell), which didn't make any sense at all. It was based on SCIENCE.
...Just like psychics and zombie viruses!
"I didn't even know you had a device like that. I've never seen you carrying it around."
no subject
Still, it was frustrating, and the sentiment clearly showed on her face.
This time, in lieu of paper and pencil, she imagined up the words right above her head.
Can't find my real one.

"Did you at least find some of your other possessions when you got here?"

How would Chell react to a talking unicorn? XD
From the corner of her eye, she saw a figure soaring through the air without any effort and without any wings. Now she was curious. However, the figure kept moving rapidly and Rarity could not find the right opportunity to speak.
Not wanting to waste any more time, the unicorn called out, "Excuse me, how are you flying without wings?"
NOT WELL
Chell skidded to a stop on one of the ledges just in time to catch wind of the question. With two well-placed portals, one in the pit below her and another on the wall behind her, she leapt from the platform to the blue oval below and launched herself from the orange one above, landing hard on her boots right in front of Rarity.
Aw =(
NAH ponies just confuse her that's all.
She glanced down at her shoes in confusion, sticking a foot out and rolling on the ball of her foot. Granted, Chell didn't think a whole lot about fashion, and never thought of the Long-Fall Boots as anything but a necessary utility.
Raising her eyebrows, she graced Rarity with her best puzzled face, as if to say these?
no subject
Rarity was saying everything rather quickly. Anything about fashion made her really excited.
no subject
In lieu of answering the question, Chell plunked herself down and removed one of the shoes, offering it to Rarity for closer inspection. If talking ponies could actually hold things with their hooves, after all.
no subject
"Oh and my name is Rarity. What's yours?" She looked up at the lady with a smile.
no subject
The strange telekinesis interested her so much, in fact, that she almost didn't realize that name exchanges were happening. She hadn't quite realized yet that it was rude to stare.
By now, however, she'd at least realized what to do when someone introduced themselves. Still not terribly inclined to speak, she carefully imagined up the letters right above her head.
C H E L L.
no subject
She then walked slightly further to greet Chell properly without the neck strain. "Hi Miss Chell, pleasure to meet you. Where did you acquire this fine beauty?" The unicorn pointed to the white boot.

Which, of course, it was. However, the location wasn't too dissimilar to a few places he'd been before he woke up on Stacy - just with more ledges and gaps and a figure high above him on one of those ledges.
At least, that's what it looked like. He peered upwards, trying to get a better glimpse to see if he was right. Yes, there was someone. That lassie with the wee robot from Engineering, actually, doing...what was she doing?
"Hey!" he called up to her. "What are ye doing?"
no subject
It was difficult to know who'd been through GLaDOS' test chambers while aboard Stacy. Lash seemed to be familiar with her device, but not Zouichi.
She gestured outward with the device, figuring it was enough explanation, especially if he'd seen one before. You know. Just thinking with portals.
no subject
Maybe, though, it had something to do with that glowing oval she stepped out when she came down here. "Ye mean to say that that device you've got has to do with that glowing hole ye came through just now? How does that work?"
no subject
With a pull of the trigger, she repositioned the two glowing ovals next to each other, sticking her arm in the blue portal and waving at Jamie from the orange one.
no subject
So, naturally, he wants to go and give it a poke, and he's halfway to doing just that before he manages to stop himself. For all he knows, she'd be upset if he suddenly started sticking his hand through the thing. "Er, sorry. Would ye mind if I gave it a go?"
no subject
She stepped through the blue portal, exiting instantaneously from the orange one. With her hands out, she gestured to Jamie to follow--he could give the portals a go to his heart's content.
no subject
"Aye, well, that wasn't so bad," he admits. He's curious, though, if it works the other way. So he steps back through the orange portal, winding up coming out of the blue one. A few seconds later, and he's back next to her, looking a bit pleased with himself.
"So ye can set these holes up with your gun anywhere, and no matter where ye step in, you'll come out wherever the other one's been placed?"
