Not a robot invasion [Closed]

There was a Grinder in the City.

A dangerous, world-conquering Grinder. A footsoldier in the machine army that had nigh-obliterated humanity on an Earth.

And it was apparently taking a casual stroll throughout the City.

It was certainly looking for something, but what?

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well, evil looking robot? Check.

Will transformed and flying towards evil robot? Check.

Blast of Quintessence going towards that robot? Also check.

Will wasn't going to let something that looked so very obviously evil stay functioning. For all she knew, this thing could be planning to destroy a good portion of the ship. At the very least, she was going to have to beat it up and then use her magic to bring it to life to interrogate it to figure out what it was after.

The Grinder began sparking immediately, sending off emergency notices to its creator, who drove up in a beat-up black car (that she was still "borrowing" from her brother), glaring.

"Hey!" Tenaya shouted. "What, do people just normally beat up anything on the streets, or did I just run into the weirdest person here?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Will blinked, looking over at the woman who showed up in the car. "Depends. Do people normally decide to make robots that look obviously evil for no reason?"

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"When you've reprogrammed them to map out the City," Tenaya said, rolling her eyes. "I work with what I've got. What do you want me to do, draw a smiley face on them?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, actually, that sounds like it'd be pretty good," Will said. "Or at least you can find some way to paint it bright happy colors or something."

Will, you do remember how long it's been since the last shore leave, right?

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll make sure to paint one hot pink just for you, then," Tenaya said.

She knelt down and started working on the Grinder. "Great. Just when I needed it to find something..."

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Will shook her head. "Sorry about this. Let me take care of that."

And with that, she moved to blast the Grinder with her Quintessence again, but this time intent on bringing it back online rather than blasting it into more pieces.

... It would probably talk after though. Hopefully it wouldn't be annoying.

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Will's eyes widened for a bit before she sighed. "Oh, of course. It just had to be a valley girl..."

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"For the record, this one's going to be pink," Tenaya said flatly.

She stood up as the Grinder looked around in a daze. "So you can zap machines and make them start talking?"

"Hey, you look familiar," the Grinder said. "Did we go to school together?"

"I'm not even going to start on what's wrong with that question," Tenaya growled. "Any chance you can zap some intelligence into this?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Will nodded. "It seems like it would fit it," she said. "And yeah, I can."

She winced at that question. "Umm... that I'm not too sure about. I've never tried to guide what personality the machines got before."

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Despite the Valley Grinder, it was still food for thought, and Tenaya asked, "Do you know any way you can talk to a machine without making it keep talking back? Just enough to get what it's doing, without giving it a whole new personality and everything?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Will blinked, before nodding. "Well, yeah. In theory, anyway. Just supplying enough of the power for a short amount of time should do that. Why?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Will nodded. "Alright. Let's see what I can do," she said, holding her hand up and concentrating a bit. A small, tiny spark of Quintessence shot out of her hand and hit the morpher.

And then her eyes widened as she heard that deep voice that Tenaya had mentioned. God, that was loud. Even that said, she couldn't understand just what it was saying. Hopefully Tenaya could hear it too and have better luck than she was.

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Tenaya's eyes narrowed as she heard the familiar voice.

"That's him all right," she growled.

"Who is that?" the Grinder asked. "Is that your boyfriend?"

Without another thought, Tenaya kicked it to shut it up. "Okay. So he was definitely in there. But now where is he?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Will blinked, looking over at the robot for a moment before shaking her head. "I have no idea. Unless we're lucky enough for whatever virus was in there to be jumping from machine to machine and not something that can move, tracking it would probably be difficult."

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Will's eyes widened. "Oh great. That's really not good! It could be anywhere. I can't blast everyone on the ship until they're bodies start speaking instead of them!"

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I've got an antivirus program I can use on them, but there's still the matter of finding them," Tenaya said. "Now that you've heard it, do you think you'd be able to pick it up again? Recognize that feeling or anything?"

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Will nodded. "That's good. But we still need to find them. And I guess I should be able to do that, if I keep sending out the magic in an area around me as I'm passing people by. But I don't know how long I'll be able to keep that up if I'm trying it whenever I pass by someone."

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Try to figure out a way to keep tabs on people however you can," Tenaya said. "In the meantime, I'm going to keep looking for this one place--it's got just the technology we'd need to stop him."

And now she turned back to the Grinder. "You. Keep looking for the Garage."

"But why would I want to look for a smelly old garage?" the Grinder whined.

"Do it, or she zaps you again," Tenaya threatened. Yes, she was using you as a threat, Will.

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Will nodded. "Alright. Let me know if you find anything."

She didn't comment on the threat, though something did come to mind just then. "Oh. I'm Will. What's your name?"

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Tenaya," she answered. "I'll make sure to keep in contact with you over a lock. Not sure how well it'd hold up against him, but if he doesn't know I'm looking for him, that's all the better."

You have failed me for the last time... snarled a deep voice, hardly a whisper from anywhere else.

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Then again, maybe Venjix wasn't going to be so hard to find after all.

Glaring, Tenaya downmorphed her blaster and let her visor slide over her eyes.

"That's definitely Venjix, but I'm having a hard time tracking him."

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's incredibly lucky of us," Will said, her hands already gathering some sparks of quintessence. "Let's see what happens if I use a greater amount of this, maybe that'll flush him out."

And as such, Will sent out another pulse of Quintessence.

Hoshi and Seraphiel decided to practice flying around the ship for today, just to make sure that they weren't rusty. She did notice Tenaya and Will down below before making a notion to Seraphiel to go down with her.

She hit the ground and gave the both of them a friendly wave, smiling behind her mask. She was too comfortable in her Rider suit for now, but she would eventually de-henshin soon.

Failures of worthless biological matter...

[identity profile] neverwastenaya.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Tenaya gave a look toward Will, as if to ask if she'd heard it.

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Will nodded over at Tenaya. Yeah, she heard it alright. But she still couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from. Was it from that... whatever that just landed and waved at them, or was it something else?

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hoshi approached Will and Tenaya, still keeping her friendly disposition up. She wondered if she ought to take the Memory out of the Driver now, but surely they had to know about Nazca by now, right? After all, she had been pretty public with her new identity.

"Something the matter?" asked Philip, walking up to them holding a book in his hands.

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Will nodded. "Yeah, no problem at all!" She said, wondering what exactly was going to happen. Was this going to be a fight anyway, or would they maybe get lucky for now and not need to worry about that.
