FIX ALL THE THINGS! [Open]

Lowe couldn't help but feel like a part of him died when he saw the mess inside the Hangar. It looked like a war zone tore through the area... which it did, what with a variety of Ohm parts still scattered across. A lot of the damage was easily fixable, thankfully. However, he had to write off a ZAKU that was cleaved in half along with a forklift that was destroyed the same way. There was also that one Variable Fighter that was destroyed in the space battle...

The Junk Guild tech couldn't help but let out a defeated sigh. He wanted to find the people who decided tossing ZAKUs and forklifts at bad guys was a good idea, especially those who could do what they did to the thrown items.

He did make mental notes of what could be salvaged from the unfixable items, though. Best not to let these things go to waste, eh?

Now, it was just a matter of getting it all fixed up.

Sumeragi was sitting on the open loading platform of the Ptolemy, trying to make sense of the damage read-outs the ship had given here. It was easier to keep track of everything else going on with a better view of the hangar - people coming and going, trying to take care of some of the damage. One rather dejected-looking man caught her eye, though, and she gave him a friendly wave.

Sumeragi laughed - the only refuge in such a situation, really. "That it is, unfortunately." The ship above her had some scorch marks along one side, though it was in better shape than some of the units in here. "Are you Engineering?"

"I'm Sumeragi. Nominally commander of this ship." She jerked a thumb back at the Ptolemy. "Though I've been poking my head into Engineering, too."

She grinned. "You think so? I know we got off easy, compared to some of the other ships - but one of the guns is down, and I don't know how to make sense of the damage read-outs the comp system's giving me."

Sumeragi laughed at the sudden show of enthusiasm. "Be careful - some of those wrecks look sharp."

Sumeragi laughed awkwardly. "It's kind of a mess in here, really. I'd help move things, but... I don't even know what's safe to touch."

"LOWE!"

Have a happy Reimi in a dirty old jumpsuit plowing into you man. She missed you a lot!

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Same with you! Did GlaDOS have you?" inquired Reimi, pulling back with a wide smile on her face.

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like no other," groused Reimi. "I'm still doing repairs on the Calnus. And the hangar is a complete mess too from terrorists."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"No doubt. I think the first is to jettison all these Ohm corpses into space or the bleed or whatever, and then we'll get to work getting the salvaged mecha worked out." she said, shaking her head.

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
"People have no respect for good mecha anymore," groused Reimi with a little grin. "If you find something neat on it, lemme know?"

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true. Might be able to salvage some for the Calnus."

She looked over at him. "Who might that be?"

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
FFFFF. "Sasami? Oh dear, I need to go see her. I had a feeling this happened."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"She's my little sister. Adopted obviously but yeah..."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Heh thanks. She helped me a lot to be honest. When I was down, it was hard to keep positive in the early days."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm doing well," admitted Reimi. "I've been learning a lot and helping out as much as I can. Hopefully I can manage having fun once in a while. It's been really busy."

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hehe that's true!" exclaimed Reimi. "I'm still getting used to having extra hands on this anyhow. Maybe I should see about piloting some of those suits out of the way."

Well that was a yell and the sound of people falling. Jr.'s feet had just touched down onto the floor of the hangar when he turned his head, having just done some final (and extra, just in case) checks of his own unit, tall and indigo and towering over him.

He waited until the two were back on their feet and done with initial ... meeting? Re-meeting? He had no idea, but he waited either way, before walking up to her with a wave. "Yo!"

[identity profile] seraphicthunder.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey!" Reimi waved as she brushed a hand across her forehead, leaving a smear of dark grime. "What's up?"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Checking some stuff out..." he jerked a thumb behind him to the large mech he had just climbed out of. "But not getting to the down and dirty like you are, apparently!" Jr. pointed to her forehead after she wiped it.

"Hey," he smiled at Lowe. He knew he'd seen the mechanic before ... being in the hangar so often brought up a lot of familiar faces. Had he seen him recently, though? He couldn't recall. "Man, we've still got some work to do in here, huh?"

Aside from attending the funeral and the Engineering department meeting, Jamie had spent nearly every free moment since the end of the last battle working in the hangar. When he wasn't working on actively repairing damaged craft, he kept busy clearing debris or assessing what remained to be done - the closest thing to a break he would allow himself.

On one of these respites he caught sight of someone who looked vaguely familiar but whom he couldn't quite identify, looking over the ruined mobile suit and other wreckage from the fight against the Demon. Jamie ventured over, subdued but watchful.

"Were you here for the battle?"

[identity profile] riseupnchargem.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Jamie hm'd noncommittally. "Hard to tell who was doing what. There was a lot going on." Plus he'd kind of been trying not to die and all.

"Ohm breached the hangar, started wrecking everything they could get at. One of their Tank units completely crushed an X-Wing." He gestured over in the general direction of the ruined snubfighter, still sitting in a crumpled wreck across the hangar. "Gonna take a lot of work to get everything back in order, here and everywhere else on the ship."

He directed a bland, tired glance over at Lowe. "'Came back.' So you were here before? Stuck running mazes or something until now?"

[identity profile] riseupnchargem.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mhh, GLaDOS. Thing's a pain." He surveyed the hangar for a moment, frowning, before turning back to Lowe and extending a hand. "Dunno if we've met, then. Jamie Hemeros."

At least one other person is already out and about, salvaging away. Given the chaos, a lot of things that previously had, say, locks and nametags on them no longer do, and Howard's going to take advantage of the bounty while the law of the land is still 'finders keepers'.

Unfortunately, dragging an entire spaceship wing, even a small one, across the floor is loud, and Howard stops when he hears someone else approaching. This might be a compromising situation to be caught in.

Even more unfortunately, his hand slips and the little spaceship wing goes crashing to the floor with a phenomenally noisy bang. He peeks around a corner to see if anyone heard that and realizes that he's now face to face with Lowe.

"Hi?"

Howard half-considers telling Lowe that's exactly what's going on, but unfortunately there's a scrape leading from the place he took the wing from to where they're standing now.

"Figured it's busted enough that I should haul it up to Engineering. Doesn't do any good to put it back on a ship if it's damaged."
iselldrugstothecommunity: (Oh man I just got an idea.)

[personal profile] iselldrugstothecommunity 2011-09-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
He looks back at the little ship. "Honestly, it depends on what you mean by salvaging. It's great for scrap metal. Or, I don't know. Abstract art."
