Holes and Patches [OPEN FREE FOR ALL]

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.

The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.

Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"Aye, you've got a point there." Granted, there was always the very strong possibility the Redcoats would have found the small group of Jacobites he was with in that cabin anyway, but having the Doctor there certainly didn't help.

And when they had met Victoria, and Zoe...well, it's fairly clear that it's really not an unusual occurrence. However, when the Doctor had woken up on the ship and Jamie had run into him, he had already gotten past the nearly-dying part of things and nothing of the sort had happened for quite a bit after that. So he has to wonder a bit what did happen. He doesn't remember hearing Martha's name called for the missions along with the Doctor, but maybe he was just forgetting, and they did go on one together. Those could be very dangerous, and nearly getting killed during one made a lot of sense.

"Were ye on a mission when ye ran into him, then?"

"Ha, hardly. My place was definitely here, tending to you lot."

The memory of it came through once more, it lasted only seconds but it felt like hours. Trapped in quicksand, sure to die, when that cheeky grin and stupid bowtie saved the day. The Doctor, the one-and-only. Well, only different. Yeah, still not exactly used to it.

"I was in the TARDIS, of all things."

"The...TARDIS?" Jamie's eyes widen, and he swallows reflexively. If she nearly died during her visit there, there's only one of two possibilities he can think of. One, she happened to wind up there during the battle with the Ohm and something happened at that point.

Or, two, she was there at the time where everything had gone wrong - something he is very keenly aware of being his fault, even if he had been tricked in the first place. If he hadn't let John - or whatever his name is - in in the first place, then things might not have gone quite so badly wrong.

Well, all right, they still might have gone wrong eventually. That does seem to happen on a fairly regular basis, in his experience. But it might not have done so in such a spectacular fashion. There's one way he can think of to find out which it is, though.

Before he can think better of doing so, he opens his mouth again and blurts out, "Er, you'd not have happened to notice if there were a trail of those foam cups lying about at the time, perhaps?"
