Holes and Patches [OPEN FREE FOR ALL]

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.

The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.

Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"Ah," the Master said shortly, watching the bandages go round and round his poor hand. Even on pain medication, it seemed he disliked being corrected. "Thought you smelled... off."

And then he chuckled. "Isn't that funny, though? The 'synthetic human', accusing me of sowing misinformation. Experiments like you... you're built for deception."

So maybe his disposition still needed a little work after all.

"It's not very often a strange man admits to smelling me," Zouichi said, using a little metal fastener to prevent the thing from unraveling. He took the Master's other hand, starting in on that one, too.

"Built for deception? How so?"

He shrugged, probably interfering with Zouichi's bandaging job a little. "Why else would they make you look like a human? Surely it isn't because they're the pinnacle of evolution."

Sigh. Oh, the Master, why weren't you cooperating? Zouichi had to undo a few loops and start over.

"Because my task was protecting them, and humans respond better to life forms that resemble other humans than to those that appear alien, robotic, or otherwise. However, it's not as though people didn't know what I was. We're fairly common on my version of Earth."

Boy, the Master and Ildraniath could start a club or something.

He noticed the rebandaging and thought it was rather funny. Funny enough to shrug again. Especially now that he knew he was dealing with a robot, of sorts.

"Of course they do. If there's one thing humans excel at besides being deceived, it's deceiving themselves."

Watch out, Zouichi. The Master'd been in politics.

Wrong again, Master, although he's certainly been called a robot before. Zouichi paused at the Master's little shrug, then yanked ever so slightly at the bandages. Not enough to actually harm him. Just enough to jostle his burns a little in warning, maybe send some nerve ends jangling at the edges of that nice cloud of anesthetic compound. Stop making him redo those bandages, dammit!

"Research suggests that you're right," he said, smiling pleasantly. "You sound like you've had experience with them before."

Oh, robot, cybernetic organism, Flesh duplicate, it was all the same to the Master. And he had a very low opinion of all of them. His brow furrowed as Zouichi pulled a little too hard at his wrappings.

"I'd be careful, if I were you," he murmured, his tone soft and dangerous. "Human or not quite, a nurse surely ought to know better than that."

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-09-13 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That was alright; Zouichi was rather used to people regarding him as an inferior life form. Even the people he was trying to save.

Okay, especially the people he was trying to save.

"Then it's a good thing I'm not a nurse," he said matter-of-factly. He knew that tone when he heard it... but he'd never been particularly good about heeding warnings. And if he were that easily cowed, he'd never have survived in his line of work. "I am trying to help you, you know. The least you could do is try not to actively hinder me."

"Not such a good thing for me," the Master grumbles, but he stills somewhat. He doesn't think much of this medbay. First, Martha Jones punching him in the face, and now, receiving ministrations from something not even good enough to be human. The Doctor must be having a good laugh right about now.

"Noted," said Zouichi, finishing with the bandages and tucking away the rest of the supplies. "But at the moment, everyone here's pretty understaffed. I'm surprised no one's come to see you yet, though."

Maybe the Master's personality was a little... difficult, but that didn't mean he wasn't a patient.

"Just lucky, I suppose." The Master wasn't about to let on about Martha's little visit. Being beaten by a girl? Humiliating!

He groaned quietly, letting his head loll back on the cot. "I'm thirsty. I don't suppose it's too much to ask for a glass of water in this 'medical facility'?" To say the Master's tone was petulant would be making a severe understatement.

If Zouichi could read minds, he would be linefacing at the Master so hard. As it was, he nodded, then returned with a nice glass of water. Well, it was more of a mug. Maybe all the glasses were taken.

"If there's nothing else, I'll leave you to languish until a doctor can see you." Besides, it looked like the Master wasn't in any immediate danger.

The Master downed the mug with greedy gulps, finishing it nearly before Zouichi had finished talking.

"Oh, dear. You're too kind," he muttered.

Hey, if the Master was feeling frisky enough to cop an attitude, that was good enough for him. With a brief wave, Zouichi left him to the mercy of the medics.
