Holes and Patches [OPEN FREE FOR ALL]

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.

The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.

Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"He is at home. He suffered a broken leg, burns and a few other injuries, but he will be better in time. Seeing as he was my companion, I treated him. With all of the people already in Medbay, he refused to come in."

The elf simply shrugged and shook his head. "Fontaine is very stubborn most times." Like he had any place to talk.

"I understand that; it is imperative that I am agile as well, though I have the advantage of ranged. I am curious, though on how you managed to scare Ronnae. Is it because of the state you are currently in?"

"As I know very well," Billy smiled. Just a little. Fontaine would be fine, he was sure, and right back to hating him as scheduled.

As for Ronnae's worries?

"Yeah," Billy confirmed, tugging the blanket down for effect. The slices that littered his torso and widespread burns were bad news, as well as the few almost-impalings. "She told me about how she was carefully forged to endure much worse injuries, and her body heals quickly. I have an accelerated healing rate too, but it's slower. And my skin's easier to penetrate. Paired with the weaker power behind my attacks, it must be a miracle I survived at all."

It awed him too at times.

The elf made a face at his friend's wounds before glancing back to his face. "To sustain so many injuries, I can assume you were right in the middle of things! I am glad for the miracle, at least, though a death in battle would be a magnificent way to go." For those who actually enjoyed battles, at least.

"Though neither you nor she will have to worry; I will take good care of you!"

"That's about right. I fought on the ground for a long while before we used the mecha. Ronnie was with me for part of the way, and she saved my life, but it was rough."

All that death, all the blood that had coated him when he'd finally emerged from it all. He was still relatively inexperienced with such bloody warfare, that wouldn't be forgotten easily.

"But don't you have things to do? I think I'll be all right, I just need to wait. There's no life-threatening problem left here."

Oh, he would certainly have to hear that story from Ronnae, later. She didn't even mention anything about whatever a 'mecha' was. He thought about asking Billy what it meant, but decided to pass for now. At least until he was better.

"No! I am not injured enough to warrant any time in the Medbay. I have to take care of Fontaine, of course but he is sleeping. I have yet to speak to Kaya, but chances are that she will be somewhere in the Medbay, anyways. So!" He exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "I have plenty of time to keep you company!"

Billy shook his head with a laugh---a slightly strained one, given how he felt---and flopped back against the pillows. "I hope I see her soon, it's been really worrying. I don't look forward to the fussing and scolding, but she's my sister."

And family looked out for each other. That was that.

"Do you have any exciting accounts from the battle you're bursting to retell? I think I've about covered everything from my end---or I could sit quietly."

From what he knew of Kaya, he could agree with what Billy said. Ronnae would probably be receiving the same treatment from her soon enough. At least he would be getting off scot-free! Mostly.

Nokosi lay his head on folded arms as he considered his friend's question. "Everything about it was very exciting! I offered ranged support to Ronnae while she was in the thick of it. Ah, my explosive arrows worked splendidly! How I missed the sound of the charges detonating."

Billy found the perspective entirely foreign, but interesting. He couldn't imagine being soothed or pleased by the sounds of war. Maybe if it was an invention working well, but unlike most of the other warriors on the ship, it still bothered him. He drifted off into thought for a second, then nodded.

"I'm glad it all worked well for you. My tools weren't as well suited, but you two seemed to be quite effective. Ronnae was the leader---I only provided the shots she didn't have time for."

And it bothered him a little, but that wasn't important. He was going to get stronger and get better weapons. "And Fontaine?"

"I think he enjoyed being off the ship more than anything; he would have preferred to go hunting, I think, but he appreciated the time spent outside where he was able to revert to his predatory nature." Which always seemed to be his companion's largest complaint--next to the slop.

"He spent a bit of time on and off the ship, though. First, assisting Kaya in treating the minor injuries of the many patients who were brought in Medbay, then he fought beside Ronnae and made sure that her rear was covered at all times."
