Holes and Patches [OPEN FREE FOR ALL]

After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.

The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.

Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"I have never heard the term before," Aibghalien said rather haughtily, as if this made the term somehow inferior or contemptuous. "I assume it is some sort of attack which relies on 'science'."

"I wouldn't call it an attack, exactly, though it can certainly be used as one. Think stuff like nuclear powered weapons, the kind of waves it lets off can seriously screw with not only your immediate health, but long term, and it can cause gene mutations and all other kinds of ugly things." Did Aibghalien know what nuclear even meant? Jr. had no idea, but he hoped the rest of the terms hit him familiarly.

"So, it is something like negative energy?" It, of course, wasn't at all, but this was as close as his mind could come to slotting it into a term he understood.

"That's not a bad way to look at it, even though when not ... leaking everywhere it's actually pretty useful stuff. But it's more or less playing with fire, no matter how you try to slice it." Jr. gave him a small nod, figuring that was a good enough way to look at it. "Since you've never dealt with it before, they probably just wanna make sure you didn't get hit hard enough by it to cause any big problems."

A beat. "But I'm sure it won't turn into that." And then it was time to try and steer the conversation into a more lighter direction. "But, hey, you were pretty damn awesome out there!"

"I'm a wizard, manipulation of fire is kind of my thing," he grumbled.

Flattery wasn't about to cheer him up; by his own standards he'd barely performed up to par. "Now that I've gone up against them large-scale it will be substantially easier to plan against their existing techniques in the future. I have a lot of spell research to do, clearly."

"It was more an expression. Handling dangerous things that you know are dangerous" He idly kicked one of his heels on the floor, thinking about what Aibghalien said after that. "Yeah ... I've never actually been in a battle that big with them, before." And it was tough. Jr. wondered just how many of these things made up the whole race. And according to some of the things he had heard, there were new ones among them compared to the crew's last encounter. Would they be sending out more numbers and newer types next time, now that they knew how capable their enemies were? It left a small feeling of dread in the pit of his stomach.

"Even the Sensorium simulations weren't like the real thing. Though they'll still be useful to carve out better ideas of how to attack'em."

He reflected on the battle, or the many fights that comprised it anyway, as he compared it to prior experiences. "That is the largest battle I have been in, but not the most dangerous. Nevertheless, I have enough insight to begin preparing new tactics... as they surely will. I cannot expect to continue to have the same successes with the same strategies."

"Yeah, 'course not." Those Titans had been a bitch and a half to fight, and it was eerie how much they resembled the mobile suits and his own unit. "Can everyone do the sort of magic you can where you're from?"

"That is a complicated question," Aibghalien said. "There is, to begin with, a difference between wizardry and sorcery, although the spells are exactly the same and both are arcane magic. Sorcery is inborn. Anyone with immortal blood, in a small or large amount, may have the gift, though it does not express itself outside of the elven people frequently even in those who meet that criteria. Wizardry, which is what I practice, is learned. Anyone can learn it."
