After the battle, the warriors' task was over. Their job, for now, was to rest and recover for the time being.

The healers' job, on the other hand, was far from over. Some exhausted from the battle, others rotating in, they took to their bay and continued the process of treating the wounded. Some patients were free to leave in a few minutes, while others would have some time (or quite some time) on the cots. Their mission: relax. Stay as still as possible.

Unfortunately, the temptation of so many familiar faces alive and about would ultimately prove to be too great. Keeping track of this group was going to be a third task all its own.

[this is a free for all for all your injured! Have them socialize, be thorns in the medics' side, try to escape, or bring the medics together for some action. Just note in your post if you'd like a medic to visit your character---if not, it's time for a chat!]

"Need to know who is alright?" Doc asked, pushing him down for a second time and finding it even easier than the first time.

"You're too drained to be running off right now, okay? You really seriously do need to stay in bed, Kang. I wouldn't make you stay down if I thought you would make it more than five steps once you got up."

"My daughter, Kali. I saw - I saw that damn dragon grab her and carry her off!" Kang closed his eyes briefly, even that little bit of movement enough to make him pant slightly in exertion. "What if he killed her? Where is she?"

He looked almost panicked as he tried a third time to get up, though this time Doc didn't have to push him down.

"Kang, I really meant it about you need to stay down buddy." Doc repeated, wincing a little as he replaced the blanket, wrapping it close around the draconian's shoulders.

"I'll find out what I can about Kali for you. Don't believe the worst until you see it, okay?"

Kang pushed the blanket back down to his waist and took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down enough to explain properly.

"They kill us back on Krynn. They kill us and they call it mercy, and that battle was a perfect opportunity for him to kill her and get away with it. Blame it on the Ohm, call it an accident."

"Okay, admittedly that is a pretty disconcerting status quo." Doc agreed. "But nothing's for sure yet. Let me see what I can find out before you go running off without knowing where to even start looking."

The logical part of Kang's brain pointed out the sense in that (it also pointed out that he stood even less of a chance against a bronze dragon in his condition than he usually did) and he was too worn out to argue it, so he took another breath and nodded, "...alright."

"Thank you." Doc squeezed his arm a little. Getting out of bed was no good for the Draconian but being bedridden and teeming with stress did nothing for him either. The least Doc could do was dig up some information.

"Try to rest, I'll ask around and be back as soon as I can."

Kang's wings rustled, and he clenched his fists, still very obviously agitated. He knew he wasn't going to be able to get much rest until he knew for sure that Kali was okay.

Usually Doc was pretty damn good at digging up information, but a crowded medical bay with multiple people focused on other important tasks left him at a bit of a loss. Everyone he spoke to either didn't know or had seen only what Kang had and no more. When he returned to Kang's bedside in ten minutes time he was kneading frustratedly at the back of his neck.

"Okay, uh, so far the good news is no one has heard of or seen anything bad happening to Kali, bad news is I still don't know what actually DID happen to her..."

"Shit," Kang cursed, slumping back against the bed. The chances of him finding out any time soon were likely slim, too. He cursed again, this time in Nerakese, "You'll let me know as soon as you hear something?"
