Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

Just as the Grunts rushed up to the two, the last one that lingered int he back was suddenly covered by a blast of strong ice wind, freezing it in place as it was trapped between two large slates of ice.

"Ugh, this is so troublesome..." Pram grumbled as she appeared from the cool mist formed by the ice magic. If she were stronger, she could have summoned an ice dragon to devour the group in one swipe... Thankfully, those two had the enemy's attention to let her use her magic.

Mar's shield glowed with holy light as he slammed it into the Grunt's face. The holy power he had charged it with magnified the force dramatically, till what should have been a merely punishing blow became a hit that a truck at top speed would envy.

In the moment that bought him, he glanced around, then invoked the Blessing of Might on those nearby, bolstering both their attack strength and their regeneration of magical power.

"The ones in the back should be engaged by casters!" he yelled, powerful enough to be heard over the chaos. "Melee, stick to the Grunts!"

Pram heard the weird guy, alright. What was he rambling about, casters and melee, was he trying to pretend he was in some MMO game? She rolled her eyes as she gave another frustrated sigh, annoyed of the other's speech. Whatever he was, he was doing a decent job attracting the swarm. It gave her enough time to conjure up another large ice crystal. Giga Ice!

She was never going to yell out her spell names, nope. That's just too cheesy!

The humongous ice crystal shot out from the ground while imprisoning a portion of the swarm before shattering to pieces. A small number of the enemy fell from the attack, but that brought attention to the overlord and part of the swarm changed its direction and started rushing towards her way.

"Tch..." This absurd amount of enemies was more annoying than anything else.

Great, the ones coming up behind didn't seem like they'd be much fun. Rachel couldn't claim to be a fan of things she couldn't get to, let alone things that shot acid.

The whole caster versus melee thing was weird, yes, but nothing Rachel couldn't figure out. And she was okay with it, as much as she didn't like orders.

< Can do, > she rumbled, charging headlong on all four paws towards a group of the grunts, with all the speed and force in the grizzly that she could muster at that close a distance. It was still a substantial hit, but it was crashing into a huge enough group. She could keep a fair few occupied with her size, though, and the worst of them away from that other girl, who looked less like she could handle a huge physical fight.

< Want a piece of this? > she taunted, not knowing if they could really understand her. She smashed her paws together, cramming a few of them together with force. The blades cut at her paws, but she did her best to ignore the pain. Those ones, at least, should be distracted.

((ooc: sorry for the delay!))

The vicious assault from the group tore into the swarm, taking many grunts and grenadiers out easily. However, the group seemed to part in different swarms as if trying to pin down the team that was assisting the GIA forces, going in for a pincer move. Swarms of grunts headed the assault while grenadiers assisted from the back, and amidst the commotion a few shadows lurked near the Oracle...

Assassins now jumped from the shadows and pounced towards her, intent on taking out the high priority target while the swarm kept the others busy.

Without even looking back towards Pram, Maridian cast Righteous Defense (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=31789) on her, binding holy magic around her and the Assassins to draw them towards him instead of her -- then he spun in a neat circle, hurling the shield into the midst with the same three ricochets as before.

Whatever their priorities had been, the mantle of Righteous Fury (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=25780) that sheathed him ought to force them to reassess just which foe is the one they ought to be targeting.

Please. Dealing with adds like this is kid stuff.

Pram definitely didn't notice the Assassin creeping up on her until a spell was cast on her. When she saw the Assassin being forced to change its target to the Paladin who had a whole swarm of enemies at him.

What was he, an idiot??? Overlords didn't need any protection!! Pram, A+ team player.

With a frustrated growl, she started unleashing a series of beams before blasting a huge gust of ice at the Grunts' way, creating a large ice prison for a moment before shattering to pieces. That should take care of a good portion of the army...

All of the magic stuff-- from either of the two she was fighting with-- was more than a little beyond Rachel, frankly, but she was okay with that. She could do 'smash that' without worrying too much about what they did. And she could protect her fellow crew, too, even if they didn't seem to need it much (good on them). Other than the fact that the one guy was being swarmed a lot now.

< These things just love you, don't they? > Rachel joked, though she was smart enough to figure it was a magic related thing. Rachel's bear stood on it's back legs, slamming paws into Ohm right and left, teeth ripping and tearing at any of the Ohm they could reach.

"Hey, it's my job to take the hits while you guys deal the damage!" he proclaimed proudly as he swatted at the Ohm. A brilliant bubble of energy formed around him as he did so, blunting the Ohm's blows against him as he caught them on his shield or parried them with his mace. "Though on Azeroth that would also be the bear's job... our druids preferred turning into great cats to do damage. But either way, I'd be derelict if I let these guys get their claws into either of you! The caster isn't wearing armor, and you're..."
Wait for it.

"...completely bear."

Pram couldn't help but let a giggle out at the last bit she heard from the other.

"That is true... you are very... beary." She replied before going back to being her obnoxious self as she froze a bunch more of the Ohm with her ice spells. "But don't underestimate me! I can protect myself just fine!"

< How very original of you both, > Rachel replied flatly, and you could almost hear the eye roll in her 'voice'. Bear puns. Great.

< Whatever, > she said after a moment. < I can take hits myself. > She could just morph the worst of the damage away, after all-- provided she had the time and space, but she could worry about that later. < But suit yourself, I guess. > She didn't have any overwhelming concern for who took the hits if they could handle it-- she was just fine tearing a new one into the Ohm regardless.

"Well, if you all really want to get hurt when I'm offering to take the blows on my shield and plate armor!" If they did... he wouldn't let them anyway. Sorry!
