Having free time again had remained a novel concept for a little while - not worrying about the next mission, or if they were all going to die tomorrow, or any of those things. But after a few days, the old worries started to seep back in. The old guilt. So it was throw herself into work, or into drinking, and there wasn't quite enough privacy to do the latter. Not enough alcohol, either.

Which meant work - analysis, tactics, all of it. Learning what she could to keep more people from being killed. Setsuna's report had been informative, certainly, but the file she'd been sent - ah, that was gold. Which is why she stood in the Sensorium, watching a battle play out in miniature in front of her, as she scribbled notes on paper she'd brought in. That felt a bit odd - but she didn't have a computer rig to back her up right now, and sometimes it was easier to think in handwriting.

Sumeragi raised a skeptical eyebrow at the newcomer, and then turned back to her notes.

"I can see the entire battlefield, this way."

"Ah." Nope, Punchy still doesn't get it. "So, um. This some kind of epic curb-stomp you examining, or something?"

Sumeragi made a few more notes, and answered without looking back up. "Something like that. This is the last space battle the ship had with the Ohm."

"Dope," Punchy says, leaning over it to examine it. "You doing what, checking their poses?"

Sumeragi glanced over. "You know, if you want real answers, you might want to use real words, too." There wasn't much fire to the chide, though - she was a little amused, if anything.

Punchy rolls his eyes. Like he hasn't heard someone knock his dialect every few hours since he got here. "Fine. What you watchin' this shiznat for?"

She grinned a little in return. "Taking notes - if they fight like this once, they'll fight like it again in the future, most likely."

"You some kinda mastermind or something?" Punchy actually finds that he's having a relatively easy time following the Ohm's tactics, at least when they're spread out in a simulation like this. "I always like to get more up close and personal, you know? Waste 'em face-to-face."

Sumeragi resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the show of bravado. "You wouldn't be the only one - though going face-to-face means you get swarmed if you don't have someone who can see the big picture."

"Hey, who's saying I can't see the big picture? Just 'cuz I like the mano-to-mano don't mean I can't face on the big screen, a'ight?"

Sumeragi actually did roll her eyes this time. "That's not what I meant. A team needs planners - that's me - and frontline fighters, too."
