Debriefing [Closed]
Reviewing any mission is a critical step. Its important to note what went right and what went wrong so that adjustments could be made in the future. But the initial mission reports from Galilee seemed to indicate that everything went ridiculously sideways.
Granted, everyone came back alive, and with the technology they had been seeking. But this mission had clearly gone pear-shaped.
So after giving everyone on the away team a day to recover, say hi to the new arrivals, and get a few tattoos removed, it was time to get some more detailed answers. Leon started, privately, with the Command members on the mission: Nightwing, Fate, and Lash. The three of them were ordered to meet him and Nathan in one of the conference rooms in the Precinct. Kon would have been ordered to attend as well, but he was still in the Medbay, recovering from losing his hand.
When everyone arrived and got settled, Leon only had one question for the group.
"What the hell happened down there?"

"What the hell happened down there?"

He took a seat, leaning against the table as he did his best to keep enough adrenaline going to keep himself awake.
Finally, he blew out a breath, running his hand back through his hair. "Somebody sent us down with way too little in the way of information," he said to being with. "I suppose we should be getting used to that. You heard some of it, about how the planet used clones as a work force. The government wanted us to break the resistance, blaming the clones for the recent attacks that had killed civilians. Though we did hear later that the attacks were actually perpetrated by the government to turn sentiment against the CLF."
He glanced around at the others, then back to Leon. "If it weren't for the CLF, though, we probably wouldn't be here. The hotel was attacked when we retired for the night after our last communication with you. The CLF teleported those of us in the most affected areas out before the attack happened. Which, unfortunately, left a certain amount of our team thinking that most of the command structure of the away team had been killed."

"Not many people were willing to help the government after learning what was really going on and what happened, but we weren't exactly keen on helping the CLF completely overthrow them. So we went with the plan that would cause the least casualties while hopefully avoiding completely destabilizing the government, and still picked up what we were sent there for."
It was strange, how completely unapologetic Fate sounded. Sure, she wished things could have ended peacefully, but there was no way that was going to happen, and at that point, she was willing to try anything so they could just get off that damn planet.

"Along with what the others have said," she finally said, speaking up, "I'd like to add that our original plan was going to be helping them until they branded a few of our own because they were clones." She put her hands together and leaned her chin on the bridge, thinking. "Heck, even after that, our plan was going to be that of the least causalities, hearing the story from the other point of view, getting what we want, and then leaving. Sure there were a few who wanted to play big shot heroes, but let's be honest; it was a war between two factions and it wasn't ours. It might seem cold to say, but I don't think we'll be hearing from the planet for a while anyway." Besides, Lash wasn't the type to mince words. "You should have seen the legalese that Luthor showed me. There was so many arbitrary rules we would have never found until we set our feet down there."
She shrugged.
"I wasn't picking sides until they bombed the hotel and then the CLF talked with us, personally. We picked the path that ensured us a way to get out of there and with everyone alive, along with the least civilian deaths." With an angry scowl, she also added, "Not to mention the fact they made us fight clones of ourselves on the way out. Two guesses about what they were going to do with those, and the first doesn't count."

"I'd like to get a copy of that from Luthor. I'll speak with him after this. In the meantime, you're saying the government bombed the hotel? Wasn't it clear that you were there as a neutral party? What exactly happened when you spoke with the government representatives? Diplomatic immunity should have been in effect."

Dick pulled out his omnicomm, bringing up the information he'd gotten off of Luthor. "The Council split the first away group up, taking us to different places. I was with the group that was apparently meant to open negotiations. We weren't told where any other group was going or what they were doing. But they did take DNA samples before we were allowed into the city. Those were later used to create an army of clones of us which the Council, as Lash mentioned, were turned loose on us." He glanced up, handing over the omnicomm to Nathan so he could copy the information. "As a note, if Councilor Kang ever dies, vacating the immediate vicinity would be in order."
