The future is a threat, not a promise [closed for now]

Well Loren had to admit, this place was a lot freakier than any spaceship she'd been in before, and she'd been in a few. But that wasn't what was bothering her, it was the future.

Elfangor was going to leave, going to die, even. Her son didn't know her until later in his life? Why? There were a lot of questions and she wasn't sure she wanted to know the answers. That didn't change the fact that she needed to know. There had to be some way to stop it from happening when she returned.

So after the introductions in the Obs Deck she kept close to Elfangor and as soon as she was alone with him she asked the questions that were burning in her mind.

"Elfangor, I have to know. What happens to me?"

Elfangor had morphed back to his Andalite form after the meeting. He was getting close to the limit and he had no intentions of being a nothlit in a place that was likely to become dangerous.

He turned to face Loren when she asked, looking at her worriedly. < Tobias says you will get into an accident when he's a child. One that will not let you be able to take care of Tobias yourself, so you left. I assume so you didn't have to make your son see you struggling as you tried to get better. > He could see no other reason for her abandoning anyone besides not wanting them to suffer at her own suffering.

Elfangor thought over what Tobias told him, trying to remember if he said what kind. < No, he didn't. You lost your sight though and I believe there was severe head trauma, > Elfangor said. < Tobias said you....were starting to remember me. When the Ellimist said you weren't supposed to. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
< The Ellimist said he could not change thing, only undo what was 'broken.' You weren't supposed to know me and you were to forget about me and think someone else was Tobias' father. > Elfangor said, clearly not happy with the idea, but it did mean Loren wouldn't have suffered with him gone. At the time, anyway.

He paused at the next comment. < It does seem to be a bit much. > He said, his thought speak sounding thoughtful. < ...Tobias...was a key piece in the Ellimist's team. It might have been that whoever is on the other side of this game tried to ruin Tobias' chances of being helpful by making things worse for you. It might be why your memories resurfaced. > Well, it was a thought.

< The Time Matrix made it so. Or so he says. A justification for why he could do what he did, more than anything, I believe. > Elfangor said.

Elfangor wrapped one of his arms around her as well, pulling her a bit closer. It just seemed easier than normal to be more physical on his feelings with her around. Even if others thought he was rather physical for an Andalite anyway. < Yes. That's what we are. And unfortunately it seems we're unable to stop being those pieces, but you might be able to avoid most of the damage. I have to leave Earth. From what Tobias told me, that is, unfortunately, essential. I have to come to Earth later and give him and his friends the ability to morph so they can save Earth. Other than that...we should be able to do something. > As much as he wanted to stay with Loren, he couldn't have both his homes destroyed and have Loren suffer a most likely very painful death and who knows what would happen to Tobias.

Elfangor fell silent then, not quite able to look at her as he pondered on how to answer this. Saying he was eaten by a monstrous morph of the Visser's was not the most pleasant thing to tell the woman he loved.

< It...wasn't pretty. >

Elfangor knew that tone and shifted uncomfortable, thinking his hooves sounded far too loud on the hall floor. He hesitates, hoping maybe there was some way out before his shoulders slump a bit as he resigns to himself he is going to have to tell her.

< The Dome Ship had come to Earth to deal with the Yeerk ships in orbit. We didn't notice a blade ship that was there until it was too late. The Dome Ship lost, the Dome even ejecting to Earth. Which is how Aximili, my brother, got there. I was in a fighter and my ship was damaged and I was wounded. > He paused a moment. < Gravely wounded. I had landed, thinking of an insane idea to use the Time Matrix, but it was buried under construction. That's how I met Tobias and his friends and decided to give them the power to morph. Minutes later...the Visser landed. Visser Three by then. >

He couldn't quite get himself to look at her at this point, dreading the look of horror he expected on her face. < He wanted to kill me himself. He used Alloran's body and took the form of a huge, monstrous form. He was holding me above his mouth before I remember waking up from the pods. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
< ...it's not the most pleasant way to go, even fighting, it seems...wrong. > Elfangor said, glancing at Loren. He hesitated before he reached over to put his hands lightly on her shoulders.

< It's why I hope I can avoid it. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
< I'll find a way to make sure I don't. At least uninjured, even if we are to return to that moment somehow, I can do a lot more to fight back. > Elfangor said, trying to be reassuring.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Elfangor thought for a moment before he nodded. < I will find a way to make you remember...or just find a way to win your heart again. I won't leave you again. > He promised. He didn't know if he could undo what the Ellimist did, but he could find a way to get around it so it didn't matter as much.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
< So it seems, but at least we're well practiced, > Elfangor said, relaxing as Loren cheered up a bit.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Elfangor would have been smiling if he had a mouth, wrapping his arms around Loren. < And there is no greater joy for seeing you again, > He replied.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
< It was far too long, even if it was for a year. > Elfangor said, a warm feeling filling him at the kiss.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
And there wasn't any less reason that Elfangor had married Loren. Not to mention she looked quite cute with a blush.

< Yes. I became the War Hero I had wanted to be before our adventure. > Elfangor said. < Because it needed to be done. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
< Was I? I always thought you were the one acting more heroic. Dealing with something you had no clue about before and even hurting one of the most feared beings in the galaxy, > Elfangor said, welling up with pride at the compliment and for having met someone like her.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
< It's more terrifying when you don't know the situation. Instinct is still very important. More of my 'heroic' feats were more from instinct than actual thought. > Elfangor admitted.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
< I think we can agree on that, > Elfangor said, quite content to keep his arms around her.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
That....

Was a damn good question.

He thought for a moment on his answer. How should they address each other? Then again... < Whatever you're most comfortable with. As long as I get to be close to your heart, I'm fine with any title. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
< I believe...after as many time oddities we've encountered, I'm sure he'll just be happy to know the feelings do not wane even after so many years. >

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-18 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
< Even though I've now become twice your age? People might talk. > He said, which was meant to be a joke. Hoped he got the tone right in thought speak.

[identity profile] escapednothlit.livejournal.com 2009-07-19 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
< I suppose being on an organic ship after getting kidnapped is a bit more problematic. > Elfangor responded, the smile obvious in his tone.
