If it keeps on rainin', the levees are goin' break [Open]
One of the people grateful for the return of crew members from Gailee was one very worn out Dean Winchester. He was barely getting by but forced himself to push through while Security was short handed, and down one of the co-heads. Upon Dick's return, he sent him a weary 'Welcome back, tag you're it.' message on the comms before leaving his notes for the threat database he'd been compiling where it was easily accessible to him. He debated heading to the Tavern, but that meant people, especially certain people. The Impala was in the Hangar, but so was Serenity so that was out too for now. He finally decided on making his way to the Beer Tree in Hydroponics, and flopped down on the grass underneath. He had grabbed a few bottles, and proceeded to crack the first open.
A few hours later, there was a small collection of bottles nearby, but Dean wasn't even close to being that drunk. To be honest, he didn't have much urge for anything at the moment. He'd have to get back eventually but right now, he wasn't moving or doing one damn thing.
Just felt empty and hollow. Like a shell or (vessel).

"I don't think anypony's having too bright a day 'round these parts, to tell you the truth. 'Cept maybe Pinkie Pie."

He tilted his head, and gestured vaguely toward his comm, "That the hyper one from your world who needs to switch to decaf?"

"I mean, I get what she's trying to do, but...this is war," she whispered, sounding a little worried. "Her family was ripped clean apart, just like the rest of ours. And even worse is gonna happen, right?"

Dean studied Applejack for a moment, debating what to say. Could lie and say no, but he knew the truth. Plus Applejack looked like she could take directness, "Already has a few times around here, and you know what, we're still here. Still fighting. That counts."

"So...whatever's up in that head of yours, we're gonna beat it. Might take a while, won't be perfect, but we've all got a load to carry. We'll get through."

He then waved a hand, "No offense, but it ain't worth it. Focus on what you can fight. The sons of bitches that took our homes, and anything threatening the ship." The thing was, he felt he wasn't worth the effort.

That was Applejack's way. 'Honesty is the best policy' taken to extremes.

"Now I don't know if you've noticed, but there ain't no sunshine here. 'Sides, I reckon friendship works about the same just about anywhere, whether you're roundin' up parasprites or fightin' for our lives---everyone's. No one's saying you gotta, but it might help."
She tossed another apple over her shoulde, this one baked in something sweet. "But I'll just let you have a think."

Still he did take the apple treat with him to eat later as he got up to find something stronger.
