If it keeps on rainin', the levees are goin' break [Open]

One of the people grateful for the return of crew members from Gailee was one very worn out Dean Winchester. He was barely getting by but forced himself to push through while Security was short handed, and down one of the co-heads. Upon Dick's return, he sent him a weary 'Welcome back, tag you're it.' message on the comms before leaving his notes for the threat database he'd been compiling where it was easily accessible to him. He debated heading to the Tavern, but that meant people, especially certain people. The Impala was in the Hangar, but so was Serenity so that was out too for now. He finally decided on making his way to the Beer Tree in Hydroponics, and flopped down on the grass underneath. He had grabbed a few bottles, and proceeded to crack the first open.

A few hours later, there was a small collection of bottles nearby, but Dean wasn't even close to being that drunk. To be honest, he didn't have much urge for anything at the moment. He'd have to get back eventually but right now, he wasn't moving or doing one damn thing.

Just felt empty and hollow. Like a shell or (vessel).

"Really?" Cassie asked, but she wasn't that surprised to be honest. It wasn't the most common of names as far as she knew, but it also wasn't that uncommon either. "Was she a friend?"

"It's nice to meet you, Dean," she said brightly, settling next to him since he seemed to be allowing her to stay. "So, may I ask what you're taking downtime from? I'm new to the ship."

The short reply left Cassie curious, but she suspected that he wouldn't have been so short with her if he felt comfortable talking about it so she decided to leave it alone.

She nodded, a bit taken a back at hearing his job on the ship. "Really? That must be interesting." Her eyes fell to bottles that had been sitting next to him. "And hard. You were on your own? No wonder you needed some time to yourself." She'd been vaguely aware that some people had been missing, after all that had been why Krisi had come to stay with them briefly, and that they'd returned recently, but she hadn't really known anything specific about it. "Well, thank you for doing all that hard work. It couldn't have been easy, especially with all the new people arriving."

"Well, everything seems to be in order," Cassie smiled. "And for that I'm grateful."

She hesitated for a moment before continuing, not sure that she should actually speak the words on the tip of her tongue. She worried that she'd end up making things worse rather then better. "Why are you here all by yourself? Wouldn't it be better to go home and rest?"

That made sense, although she was still a bit hesitant. Sitting around and drinking didn't seem like stretching one's legs, but she decided to leave that alone. Maybe he meant the walk here? She could certainly understand not wanting to go home to the quiet though. She didn't much care to hang around the house that she currently called home when there was no one else around. The silence could be unnerving.

Either way, she doubted that pressing the issue would benefit anyone.

She looked up at the odd tree. "So, what kind of tree is this anyway? I've been spending some time in Hydroponics recently, but I haven't been to this area before now." And she was still trying to learn all she could about everything here.
