Hoshi leans forward, waiting to hear what advice Shoutarou gave her.
"...Huh?" How did billiards and a relationship correlate with one another again?
"Uh... so you're saying it's like making Double work to its' optimal power?" Hey, when all else failed, equate it to Double or at least something Rider related.
"...well, both players' actions affect the outcome - the way you do stuff can either help or hinder the other player, but comparing it to making Double work is better, yeah."
"Oh, oh -- OH! Now I get it!" Hoshi says, clapping her hands in front of her face.
"So, what you mean is that it's a two way street with both people striving to make it work for all involved... Man, why didn't I get it before? You're the best, Shoutarou!"
"I believe you can find someone here, Shoutarou! Despite how much I tease you, I think you're a wonderful guy that I can respect as well as work together really well. That, and as far as I know, girls like someone who's compassionate," says Hoshi with a positive smile. She always believes that there's good in people, no matter what.
She finishes off a few cookies, sipping the coffee a little bit.
The detective leaned back a bit in his chair, smiling a little with a faint chuckle. "I suppose so..."
Not that he was going to say so, but he wasn't planning on finding someone here, on the chance that they did get to go back home eventually. Having to break up friendships would be hard enough, as he found out with Philip. He didn't even want to think about breaking up a romantic relationship.
Hoshi had to wonder what it'd be like when her time here was done. Would she be able to meet up with the friends she made at Stacy and more so with Philip again? She did just get together with him and the thought of having to separate from someone who helped her out so much was heartbreaking.
So much so that she buried her head in her hands, willing the tears to go away. It was silly to cry like that, wasn't it?
"I-I'm sorry, Shoutarou. I don't know what's coming over me."
The expressions on her face betrayed her, and as Hoshi's mood went further down, Shoutarou sat up more, eventually standing and reaching a hand out to her shoulder. "Hey, no need to apologize - what's the matter, Hoshi?"
"It's nothing. I'm fine," she replied, giving Shoutarou her best smile. Despite how much she could say she was fine, she wasn't. She wiped her eyes with the backs of her gloves as well as her sleeve.
Hoshi pulls a face before sighing. "Not much gets by you, huh?"
When she gets herself composed enough, she clears her throat before speaking. "I was just thinking of at the end of this - would I still be able to meet you guys when I return to my world? And, what got me upset was what if I don't? But... maybe that's foolish of me to think like that. There has to be a way, right?"
Aha, she had been dwelling on something similar. At least they were on the same wavelength, to an admittedly unfortunate degree.
"I..." Shoutarou sighed, leaning his chin on one hand, looking off at some random part of the agency. "I don't know. I know there's ways to travel between worlds - Decade does it, and that's how we wound up here, but those seem to be extenuating circumstances."
There's a pause, and Shou's voice grows quiet. "I... I try not to think about it, to be honest."
A thought comes to Hoshi at Shoutarou's words. Didn't Philip say that Tsukasa used to be here before he returned to the pods? So, then, maybe...
"If Decade travels in between worlds, maybe he told Philip about it and he has something on it. Then, I can come to Fuuto when all's said and done."
Even though she is still somewhat upset, she always wanted to do her best to think on the positives. Similarly, her own hand rests on Shoutarou's shoulder as a form of comfort.
Hoshi nods to Shoutarou, wanting to do something to break that silence, so she decides to give him a hug. As much as she could play up the part of pretending she was older than she was, it was nice to have people to lean on when the going got tough.
And, so, she rests her head on Shoutarou's chest, closing her eyes a little bit. All she wanted was to stay like this for a while, leaning on her surrogate big brother.
The action caught Shou off-guard, but given the nature of the conversation, he made no motions to resist the hug - while Hoshi was thankful for someone to lean on, so was he, as well as being someone that others can lean on.
One arm wraps around Hoshi, and the opposite hand rests on her head.
It's a bit before Shou realizes that Hoshi's dozed off. Once he does, though, he stays there a bit, and finally, he carefully eases out of the chair with her, carrying her to the bed in the agency. He lays her on it, and covers her before going back to his desk.

And yes, he will look a bit smug at the praise.

"You know, this relationship thing won't be that bad. You've seriously lessened my worries, Shoutarou."
Yup, still giving him praise. Ah, well.

Much as he wanted to question this, he couldn't bring himself to bring it up.
"Perhaps." he answers. "Philip and I can look into it."
