"Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

"Zou mentioned shooting it off," Howard says with a shrug. Not exactly the result he'd want to see. "He's got the compound structure on the anesthetic they used too, but he'd have to write it out and that'd take a while. But just in case anything weird starts going down on a systems level with the clones."

He sighs deeply. "I don't think we have anything to gain by taking them off now, though. That sends a signal that we really don't want to work with these guys, and we still might. We don't want to start closing our doors yet."

Sam nodded at the pair of them. "I know, Howard, I just like to know what my options are. We definitely need to learn more about what the implanted nanites can do. Once we know that, we can entertain the possibility of removing them and having them replaced with something that looks and glows the same without the nanites involved.

"But by that same token, we really can't move forward until we know more about the tech. So if an unexpected opportunity for access to something substantial comes up, snatch it up. Buy a couple more drinks for a scientist that's already two sheets to the wind and start asking questions. Sprout some sticky fingers around stray paperwork. Something that gives us a view of the reality of what this technology is capable of that we haven't been allowed to see through the lens these bureaucrats want us to look through."

Sakura quirked up an eyebrow for a fraction of a second. Outside of that, she merely nodded. "Understood, sir. Integrate and absorb what we can." A pause. "While working on our squirrel tendencies."
