"Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

Kang still hadn't eaten anything. He was still pissed off about being marked as property, and even if that wasn't enough to make him lose his appetite, the ones operating the kitchen were clones themselves. So, he sat with his arms crossed over his chest, waiting for the next part of the meeting; he wanted to know what the hell they were going to do about this mess.

Sam had spent quite a bit of time considering this entire situation. But he'd reached a decision, now that he knew the whole story. As enticing as this technology was, indeed it was the kind of project that would put himself out of business. And what it could do for the blood supply for vampires...

He blinked, quite sure that the thought of such an easily-attainable supply of blood made his eyes glow red. He focused his attention on the brands. The glow was rather disturbing to see, but he was sure that was nothing like being the bearer of the mark.

He finally stood up, and approached him. "If it helps, I'm almost certain there's something in Medbay that'll help me get that off of you and the others."

As if the looks people were giving Kang's forehead didn't allow him to forget the damn brand, he could swear he felt it, burning just above his scales. He glanced over at Sam and snorted, "Sakura thinks she can remove it, too. As much as I want it gone, now isn't the best time to get rid of it."

His status as a clone hadn't exactly been a secret, but most of the crew hadn't been aware. He didn't care that it had come out to everyone; he still didn't like how it had. And of course, there were people telling him and the others to deal with the utter degradation, as if it was just a minor, one-time inconvenience and not something they'd had to deal with their entire lives. His tail lashed in anger.

Sam nodded, making a point of looking him in the eye, not staring at his forehead. It wasn't in a forced kind of way, it was more natural. "I really can't deny the opportunities this lays out for us, but I don't think I'd be able to look my wife in the eye when I saw her again if I let this go the way the Galileans want." He supposed he could call the circumstances of her birth cloning. In a weird, vampirey, kind of way.
