trans_9 | "Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

Will sighed. "Right. Sorry. This whole situation is just... ugh."

Yeah, that lightning's still moving through her hair a bit, at least for a few more moments before it vanishes again.

"That's an understatement."

Oh good, she doesn't look like she's going to electrocute him anymore. Howard's all about not getting electrocuted. "So which tour did you take?"

"We went and saw the sights of the city, pretty much," Will said. "We tried to get some information about why the attacks were happening, but until that comm post, well, we pretty much weren't told anything."

"No kidding," Howard grumbles. "We got dragged to the entertainment district and when I didn't want to go to the feelers, the politician guy threw a shitfit. Then I hear the reason I can't wander around is because there's terrorists around. Kind of would have been nice to know in advance, right?"

Will nodded, frowning quite a bit. "Yeah. I know what you mean. That definitely would've been nice to know before we got here. Of course, considering what happened with a good portion of our group, there's quite a lot they really needed to tell us."

"Or needed not to, if they had greater plans. I don't buy that this was custom here." He shakes his head, worrying his lower lip in his teeth. "If they really wanted us on their side, why'd they humiliate a chunk of our crew?"

Will shook her head. "I know. It really doesn't make sense. The only reason I can really think of is if that they really DON'T understand why we'd all object to it, but that's not really something I want to be anything remotely true."

All that would really do would cause quite a lot of issues for everyone, after all. More than have already been done.

"From what I heard, they were really vague and elusive when people asked questions. The guy on my tour was too, up until he looked like he wanted to deck me in the face." And really, what kind of awful person could want to deck Howard in the face? Besides everyone, that is. "Even if they're raised this way, they have to trade with other planets. There's no way they didn't know."

Will sighed. "Yeah, it really doesn't seem like they were just ignorant then. Hopefully the ship will get back soon and we'll be able to leave."
