A home fit for an overlord?

Walking into the Sensorium's today, or at least this one in particular would place you on the Island of Birk, often described as "Sturdy"

And on one side of Berk's village sat a humble but recently built house at the edge of a field. Not much of Berk was flat so this area in particular belonged to one of the most passive aggressive creatures in all of the Hairy Hooligans tribe.

Sheep.

Yes the Sheep of Berk were particularly dumb as far as sheep went. So much so that back in the days of Dragon raids one could get snatched up from an entire flock, and the others would barely move away to protect themselves.

So it was up to the brave and fearless shepherds of the Viking village to vigilantly protect these pathetic puffy pasty faced patsy's of the livestock world.

That...was not a job for Ruffnut and her twin brother. No that was a job for the adults. They had always been stuck on fire patrol.

But tending to the sheep in times of peace? That was a duty fit for the twins according to their elders.

Frankly Ruffnut hated it. Sheep were about the stupidest creatures she had ever known.

And yet since being on Stacy she kind of missed the dimwitted puffballs.

So she sat ontop of one cross legged while it grazed and stared intently at her families home. Before Hiccup had made peace between the Dragons and the Vikings the house had stood strong for a whole two months! Luck really, nothing more then that.

And after so many re-buildings the tribe knew how to slap buildings together. Even Ruffnut knew some basics about building a home just from helping.

And that was precisely why she was here today. To ponder the construction of a home.

Not just any home though, a lair, a den, a nest, a base, a castle worthy of the eventual overlord she would become. It couldn't be too big to start. She was only one warrior after all and even if she asked the people she trusted to help her protect it if enough people rallied together they would lose.

So for now a small home, but it would have to make up for what it lacked in size by being perfect for her. Where to start?

Hit Girl scoffed, although she DID like that heavy metal music idea, it reminded her quite a bit of home, and that was always a good thing to her. She started to move slightly to the music, then got a hold of herself, taking a breath.

"It's a start, yeah, but you need a little more. What's the interior gonna look like? Where's the floor plans and stuff? Make the place practical: you can make it all awesome when we have our actual lairs. But yeah, I can see you have a music room, a throne room, we can also set up a patio as a look out on the upstairs floor, and maybe a decent living room...."

Mindy started to scribble some plans to Ruffnut. It was HER plan, Ruff's, she just wanted to make sure the girl had a place still standing. She heard enough about what might befall the City at any given point in time.

"Ruff, you're so..."

Ah, the hell with it. She could be more adult than Ruffnut later. Without warning, she specifically mashed right into the viking, moving to the music. This was, after all, familiar territory, as rock in its many forms had a place where she lived.

Oh, Ruff wouldn't have had to work had to convince Mindy of THAT. Ballroom dancing was an activity that sophisticated adults liked to do: in a way, it was like playing a part, putting on a mask. One of the things she liked most about Ruffnut was that she was hardly the type to put a mask on anything: she was who she was regardless of what anyone said. It was this reason Hit Girl never made fun of her: a viking was a viking, and endeavored how they pleased.

Which was why she bounced back with full force at Ruffnut.

It meant different things, to Ruff and her she knew for herself that having a friend she could just hang out with and be completely ridiculous with was rare. For that reason, she gave the hanging over pigtails an extra tug, tumbling over the girl.

She took a moment to stare out into the sky. "You know, its kinda pretty, seeing Berk like this. We can't see stars where I'm from: too many skyscrapers."

"Better to show ya," Mindy said, and closed her eyes. A moment later, tall buildings of metal (http://www.24gotham.com/images/20090923220230_24gotham_20090515_2495.jpg) were towering before them, a testament of human innovation and structure that Mindy stared at breezily.

"See why we couldn't look at stars now?"

"I know, right?" Mindy said, grinning. "Not that I don;t like nature, but once your eyes set foot in these things, it has a way of making you feel pretty damn small. Mind you, we'll be demons and all, so we'll have dominion over the whole thing . Our castle should have fucking spires and moats...and cannons! Awesome canons!"

Yes, even Mindy allowed herself to indulge in play and imagine sometimes.

Mindy got up to observe the cannons, grinning. She loved the way Ruffnut decorated stuff: it would have been called gothic in her worlds, but she just thought it was cool looking and had a presence it brought all on its own.

"Yeah we are," Mindy said. "We ought to get some canons with a bit of sting too, not just canon balls. We ARE going to be Overlords, can't risk it."

Mindy made a face. It was a good idea, of course, but still.

"And you know how to work a wand, or are you expecting me to do that part?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Mindy watched the skyscraper fall, grinning. "So I guess its an incentive to go and learn more magic. Well, whatever. I can go an do that if it helps us. Just make sure you're learning more about your lightning and controlling it, ok?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't forget MY muscle and ingenuity!" she said. After all, she hadn't lived this long by sheer dumb luck. And once she saw the castle, she grinned.

"Ya know, I think I'm looking forward to having a castle as an Overlord more and more. You'll have to be there, of course."

"I'd be bored, why the hell are you making me sound like an emo fuck?" Hit Girl hit Ruffnut half heartedly. It didn't really matter that Ruffnut said retarded crap sometimes: she wanted to do this stuff with her, she was the only one she trusted really.

"Anyway," she said, "You need me too, otherwise you'd be getting your ass kicked all the time for no reason."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
"You mean when I can watch it and point and laugh at you?" Hit Girl replied, grinning. "You have some kinda gluttony for punishment, Ruffnut."

But it was ok, really. "We'll kick ass anyway."
