Melting Clock: Quarantine
After Sam Henderson's announcement, the Contagion Containment and Treatment lab was going to get busy. Anyone suspected of being affected by the mysterious affliction would be brought here, and put into one of the large bubbles that would keep any potential contagious diseases in - and the patients themselves. Once in inside, they wouldn't be able to get out again until the Medical staff had cleared them.
And before they could do that, they needed to find out what was causing this - and why.
They had a lot of hard work ahead of them.

"Of course, dear." Jeka reached her cyber-arm into the pack on her flight band and retrieved her omnicom.
"Let's see...as I recall, the first place I went to was a food stall. I'm afraid I didn't bring any of that back to the ship, I'd assumed that it was safe to eat." Her tongue flicked out briefly. "Then I explored the area for a little while, but I'm afraid I can't recall the names of all the shops. Do you know if we have a map of the area available? I made an effort to remember all of the turns I made, since I wanted to be able to get back to the ship quickly."

It takes more button pushing and tapping and scrolling than it should, but after a look of consternation (work, stupid technology, work) she manages to achieve something close to success. "I think I just sent one to your omnicom." She paused. "Or all of them."
She looked slightly sheepish, if she tried to disguise that by looking back at Jeka, focusing on the task at hand. "The hotel we stayed in is central on this particular map, if it's the only thing actually marked. At least on this version."
She really wished for a hard copy right around now.

"Yes, thank you," Jeka said. "If this situation goes well, I'd be more than happy to help you with your omnicom. It was designed by a friend of mine based on technology we use in the Legion."
She concentrated on the map, tracing her path with a cybernetic finger. "Then I went about half a klick in this direction...Oh! Right around here, I encountered a very interesting salesman. He wanted to show me one of his clocks -- I remember being a little suspicious because he didn't try to charge me for it. The clock he wanted to show me looked like it had been melted, but it still worked. I didn't end up buying anything there."

Her attention focused on what Jeka had to say, straightening as she mentioned this merchant of clocks. "This clock," she said, "You didn't happen to hear it chime, did you?" Was it the same ringing doom that Marco had mentioned, amidst his meandering course of what he could remember stopping by during his time on planet?

"No trouble at all, dear, I'd be happy to do it. Goodness knows that I'd probably tangle myself in knots over technology from your reality."
Jeka cocked her head to the side. "Come to think of it, it did. It sounded very strange, like a word rather than a chime. 'Doooom'."

She tapped that confirmation into her data pad. It might be meaningless, but any patterns were worth noting. Finding a needle in this haystack was difficult enough without needlessly discounting what sounded at the outset as a rather absurd possibility. "Doom. At least one of the other people here has had a similar experience. The more connections we can find between activities planet-side, the better." She smiled, looking as if she took heart at the idea of finding these connections. "Is there anything else that stood out to you in memory?"
no subject
"Nothing else particularly suspicious, no," Jeka answered. "I did break up an altercation between two shoppers who wanted the same item, but I turned them over to one of the local peacekeepers and they seemed more concerned with each other and the merchandise rather than me. I'll sketch them and send the pictures to your omnicom, just to be safe. If we end up going back to XaXing, it might be worth asking around to find out if anyone else is experiencing similar problems."

Tapping on her data pad, more for thought than input this time, Sakura flashed Jeka another smile. "I think that's it, as far as the official interview goes. Is there anything I can get for you? Within reason." She glanced over at the limited space offered by the exchange tray, eyebrow quirking up.

"If there's anything else I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask," Jeka said. "And don't worry, dear, I'm fine. I can entertain myself with the programs on my omnicom."
