Library Time (Open)

For once, Ben hadn't deemed to go to the newly restocked Mr. Smoothie, or drive around. Nor was he beating on simulated monsters. Instead, he had been buried in a pile of books in the library, almost literally at times. He had purchased a lot of books and had been reading up on various things, including something that had been nagging at him for a while - Temporal Mechanics.

A lot of it was garbage from what he could tell, having experienced time travel in many forms. Discarding another book, he set it aside before picking up one and his eyes widened at the title. "Since when was this in here?"

The front of it read "Gemstones and Chrono Particles, a Dissertation of Time by P. Paradox."

Eagerly, Ben began to read it, pushing through the slightly bland material. Finally, after several hours, he set it down, rubbing his eyes. "It makes sense," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Now I get why Professor Paradox is so intent on protecting me."

The chapter he had opened to, was entitled "Cross-Time and You", and there was a symbol of the Omnitrix on it, or rather the Plumbers symbol on it. He chuckled ironically as he leaned back in the pile of books, trying to figure out how to deal with the knowledge that there were other timelines just as real as his own, with many Ben's sharing his face.

"Sounds like a good friend. And pretty good leader at times too," said Ben with a light smile.

That caused Superboy to laugh, "He is a terrible leader." He remembered when Robin was trying to be the leader and... well... it hadn't worked out like... at all.

Ben grinned widely. "Really? Then I've probably got a leg up. Though I do make some poor decisions at times."

"I'm whelmed." Superboy laughed and crossed his arms.

Grinning, Ben shared in Superboy's laugh as he nodded. "Not a bad thing though. I mean sometimes bad decisions make for the best situations."

"I speak from experience." Yeah... chasing Amazo by himself was one of his less grand moments.

"Hey no argument there at least. I've made plenty of bad decisions in my day." replied Ben with a cheesy grin. "At least I've learned from them."

Superboy hadn't felt this relieved since he got here. Kon was... well... Kon was annoying, and Supergirl was fine enough he supposed. But Ben was the first real... friend maybe?

Likewise, Ben needed a friend around his age, a sort of Kevin to his Ben. He hadn't felt this relaxed in a while.

"Hey, question. Did you find a place to bunk down? I've got a spare room in my house in the city if you wanna take up on it. I could use a roommate. It'd be me and Gwen in there too, that's my cousin."

Superboy smiled, "Yeah. Thanks." He said.

"Not a problem. I figured you needed a place. Y'know, you've got that whole 'I'm new and I need to find a place to call my own' thing going on." Ben shrugged.

Superboy shrugged, "Never really had a place of my own." It didn't really matter to him, he kind of just lived where he lived and as long as there wasn't a huge number of people there that was fine by him.

"Well this'll be the first then," said Ben with a nod. "After all, any place you can call home, but it takes effort to call a place one that you can rest a real home."

"I guess." Superboy shrugged again. He didn't really want or need a life outside of being a superhero. That was what he was made for... wasn't it?

"Don't worry. You'll be relaxed as the rest of us when we're all situated." grinned Ben.

Superboy didn't really know what to say, so he just nodded.

"When you wanna go down to the place, I'll get the car ready. I've got it parked at the usual spot." added Ben.

Superboy blinked, "You can drive?" He glowered a bit. He might be invulnerable but being in a car wreck still wasn't fun. Especially when he had a human to worry about protecting in the car with him.

"Yeah, I got my licence a few weeks ago actually. The only one who hasn't is Gwen from what I remember." said Ben.

A few weeks... "You can drive well?" He clarified.

"Yeah actually. I'm pretty good at if, if I'm not forced into combat driving at least," admitted Ben. "Got my car here, along with Kevin's. And the Rustbucket. That's my Grandpa Max's RV."

Superboy shrugged, "Okay." He supposed he had no reason not to believe the boy. And it wasn't like he was going to get hurt in an accident... well for the most part anyway.

"Yeah. I'm also spaceship certified by the way. Just wanted to give a heads up on that too." Added Ben.
