Library Time (Open)

For once, Ben hadn't deemed to go to the newly restocked Mr. Smoothie, or drive around. Nor was he beating on simulated monsters. Instead, he had been buried in a pile of books in the library, almost literally at times. He had purchased a lot of books and had been reading up on various things, including something that had been nagging at him for a while - Temporal Mechanics.

A lot of it was garbage from what he could tell, having experienced time travel in many forms. Discarding another book, he set it aside before picking up one and his eyes widened at the title. "Since when was this in here?"

The front of it read "Gemstones and Chrono Particles, a Dissertation of Time by P. Paradox."

Eagerly, Ben began to read it, pushing through the slightly bland material. Finally, after several hours, he set it down, rubbing his eyes. "It makes sense," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Now I get why Professor Paradox is so intent on protecting me."

The chapter he had opened to, was entitled "Cross-Time and You", and there was a symbol of the Omnitrix on it, or rather the Plumbers symbol on it. He chuckled ironically as he leaned back in the pile of books, trying to figure out how to deal with the knowledge that there were other timelines just as real as his own, with many Ben's sharing his face.

Superboy shrugged, "Never really had a place of my own." It didn't really matter to him, he kind of just lived where he lived and as long as there wasn't a huge number of people there that was fine by him.

"Well this'll be the first then," said Ben with a nod. "After all, any place you can call home, but it takes effort to call a place one that you can rest a real home."

"I guess." Superboy shrugged again. He didn't really want or need a life outside of being a superhero. That was what he was made for... wasn't it?

"Don't worry. You'll be relaxed as the rest of us when we're all situated." grinned Ben.

Superboy didn't really know what to say, so he just nodded.

"When you wanna go down to the place, I'll get the car ready. I've got it parked at the usual spot." added Ben.

Superboy blinked, "You can drive?" He glowered a bit. He might be invulnerable but being in a car wreck still wasn't fun. Especially when he had a human to worry about protecting in the car with him.

"Yeah, I got my licence a few weeks ago actually. The only one who hasn't is Gwen from what I remember." said Ben.

A few weeks... "You can drive well?" He clarified.

"Yeah actually. I'm pretty good at if, if I'm not forced into combat driving at least," admitted Ben. "Got my car here, along with Kevin's. And the Rustbucket. That's my Grandpa Max's RV."

Superboy shrugged, "Okay." He supposed he had no reason not to believe the boy. And it wasn't like he was going to get hurt in an accident... well for the most part anyway.

"Yeah. I'm also spaceship certified by the way. Just wanted to give a heads up on that too." Added Ben.

Superboy nodded, "Okay."

"Yep. So! You wanna head over to the place now or later?" inquired Ben.

Superboy looked at the book, "Should we go through this first?" It was after all, why he had sat down in the first place.

"Sure, that'll be all right," said Ben, gesturing him to take a look at it. His page was open to a sketch of a curious device with a few markings on it, in a circle.

Superboy looked down at the drawing and started reading the various things about it. He wasn't sure how long they spent going over it. But it was long enough for him to probably show Ben that he was a lot better scholar then he initially appeared.

Contrary to what people probably thought, he actually liked studying.

Ben was no slouch in studying either, but he rarely paid attention at times. It was really when he hunkered down and did something about his grades, he pulled up from his usual average and got 99s as well as other major marks.

After a while, he leaned back upwards and groaned, rubbing his neck. "You'd think Professor Paradox, knowing I was going to read this book, would have put smaller words in here."

Superboy just shrugged, "At least it's in English." He didn't mention that he could speak Spanish as well as a number of other languages.

"That's true. He didn't put it in code or anything. Just requires a little reading between the lines." replied Ben, paging through the book.

Superboy nodded again before turning back to the book, he could read it forever probably... well... not literally, but he didn't have any trouble absorbing new information.

Chuckling, Ben sighed. "We should get going though, before it gets late. I need to settle you in first."

Superboy stood up, "Sure." He said. He then waited for Ben to go. He would follow.

Ben grinned, tucking the book under his arm as he lead Superboy towards the chutes that lead to the city.

There, parked at the entrance was a sleek green and black car, seeming to be Ben's motif over the years. "Custom job. Kevin built it for me."

Superboy made no comment regarding the car. He frankly didn't care. Cars served the purpose of transportation. He didn't understand people making a big deal out of things like that.
