Monsters and Mazes

As you enter the Sensorium today you find a most peculiar sight.

A large black wall with a 8-bit logo reading "Monsters and Mazes"

And two simple words.

"Start Game."

Upon choosing this a new menu appears showing a series of options:

Fighter
Paladin
Hunter
Rogue
Wizard
Cleric
Bard

What to do what to do?

That's what she said.

He hewed her legs free of bonds, hurled the girl over his shoulder, and sprinted for the exit.

"LOOK OUT!"

But her warning came too late as tendrils of green slime shot from the portal chasing after them attempting to wrap them up like a gift.

Okay, time for a secret blood elf tactic!

With just a second of concentration, Mar drew all the mana in a short distance around him into his body like a rushing wave. He was trying to drain the tentacles just a little bit, maybe enough to slow them down.

The tentacles shuddered from the power and slowed enough for him to put some distance between himself at them. By the time they started moving again he and the maid were almost to the door.

A Loud shattering sound and the roof finally could take no more as it and the walls fell inward. It was gonna be a tight race!!

He switched the damsel-in-distress's position, hauling her in closer to his chest so his shoulders and head would shield her from debris, then RAN FOR IT!

Man, he wished he had his shield at the moment!

The world seemed a blur for those last few seconds...

And then, silence.

The trees, the animals, the rumbling all stopped.

All that could be heard was the damsel panting in fear and whimpering as she clutched at the hero desperately. The church was destroyed.

But the priestesses from before were back and not looking the least bit happy as they glared at the duo.

The blood elf glared right back. "I just kicked ass in there. You really want to make me do it out here?"

Pointedly, he moved to set the damsel on her feet -- behind him, so his body would shield her from anything if the priestesses elected to object.

One by one, the priestesses eyes began to glow.

As one they opened their mouths which also were glowing green as they all shriked...and turned to smoke.

Swirling on the wind the took flight into the night sky with only one word getting back to the duo.

"Doom."

Thoroughly unimpressed and muttering something about their demise accomplishing nothing, Mar made a rude gesture in their direction as they retreated. Then he picked up the shield he'd pitched way back at the beginning of the mess, slung it on his back, and turned to look at the girl. "You all right?"

"Better then I would have been." She responded a blush on her cheeks and trying to smooth out her gown, "Did my father send you?"

"No, I just kind of wandered in. I have this thing where I hear evil chanting and dire goings-on and charge towards them instead of away." Now he's starting to think she's some sort of princess... and he really, really hopes this goes better than the last princess-rescue he went on.

"Oh..." She seemed disappointed at first and then worried. "W-we should hurry back to my village then, father will be so worried." She insisted looking around trying to get her barrings.

"They were going to use my spiritual energy to summon forth their god. You saved me."

"All in a day's work, my lady," he said with a bow. "Do you know the way to your village from here? I will certainly escort you."

She closed her eyes for a moment and appeared to be focusing. Her flowing green hair seemed to flutter a moment as if stirred by an unseen breeze.

"Yes, yes I can sense it. We're closer then I imagined." She pointed, "If you would return me safely to my father, I'm sure we can seek a reward worthy of such heroics."

"Sure thing!" Mar said, reflexively trying to summon his paladin warhorse before remembering he couldn't do that on the ship at all. Poor stable of mounts, probably atomized with the rest of Azeroth. And him walking everywhere. "Lead the way, my lady, and I shall be at your side to protect you."

Victorious music played overhead as the duo made their way back into the forest.
