Anyone who ventures near the bathrooms will hear odd, strained clanking noises, to the point of possibly making some wonder if one of the Transformers is trying to go and having a hard time of it.

This is not a sign of one of the 'bots on board needing more robo-fiber, however.

Brainiac 5 is up to something.

Surprisingly, his techie hijinks are something he's been ordered to do--Jaime, the one in charge of the team trying to open up more of the ship has tasked him with building things to scout out where the waste goes, to use that to find out more about Stacy's hidden structures and ductwork, and that's exactly what he's doing--building an array in the bathroom to control and track the sensor-bots he's about to send where the sun don't shine.

"Hmm...still losing signal strength..."

"Usually I got caught stealing food or caught somewhere I wasn't supposed to be sleeping in," Dani said with a shrug. "No one looks in the sewers, so it was the quickest place to hide in without having to use my powers to keep escaping or turn invisible."

"Why were you stealing food? Were you indigent back home?" Brainy asks curiously.

"Not sure what indigent means, but I was on my own. I figured out my creator was a jerk who saw me as a tool and I wasn't gonna make Danny explain me to his parents," Dani said in a very statement of fact tone. It kind of sucked, but it was her choice and she dealt with it fine. "I tried to avoid stealing as much as I could, but no one hires twelve year olds without question."

"Homeless. Destitute."

He looks up from his work, somewhat surprised.

"Why wouldn't Daniel simply tell his parents the truth, so that you could stay with his own family?"

"He probably would have, if I had asked to stay. Or if I gave him a chance to think about it," Dani said thoughtfully and then grinned. "But I didn't give him a chance. I'd already caused him enough trouble. Besides, if I stayed with him, my creator would be able to find me and making him tell his secret, have his family make up some lie about why I'm with them, AND have to get his help to not get hunted down by Vlad? I'm not that selfish," she explained. "So after getting him out of trouble for running off, I left before he could think about what I was gonna do." Not to mention any method Danny had of tracking her would just track him and as long as she kept him relatively closer to Colorado than she, Vlad wouldn't find her either. Not like Danny was hiding from the fruit loop.

"Hmmph," is all that Brainy says to that. The United Planets do have drifters and other indigent people, but generally, provided society is stable at the time, the system takes care of most people, especially children.

After all, the Legion is whenever they screw up at that.

He comments, "There was no one else to care for you?"

Dani shook her head. "No one else knew my existence. I was only with Vlad for a little over a month before I met Danny. I met his two friends, but going to them would be harder than Danny. I tried going to a few children's shelters, but they would start asking questions that I couldn't answer and then they'd try to track down my family. Which means they'd end up finding the Fentons, or Vlad, so I couldn't stay in those places." She explained. It was a rather matter-of-fact tone she was using.

It hadn't been the most pleasant experience. She was too weak to risk Vlad finding her and she didn't want Danny to get in trouble because of her. She got by, that was the important part. And now that melting wasn't an issue, she was sure it would be a lot better this time.

"Too many people ask questions when a twelve year old pops up on her own. Clones, especially halfa clones, are not a normal thing."
