The Predator [open]

The plan of attack was pretty simple-- the bazaar was generally unfamiliar territory, so the point was going to be to stalk the field, to scope out the best items and deals. If she could find the weakest salespeople, the best deals... those would be the best places to strike. This was going to be good.

Moving with purpose, Rachel started to weave through the crowded bazaar, eyes set on her first target: a nearby clothing stall, vivid fabric aired in the open.

Clothing stall? Please. The gaming stall right next to it was much more interesting. In fact, Marco was there right now, looking at some of the games - but as yet, he hadn't noticed Rachel.

Not for the first time, Jamie wonders how, exactly, he gets roped into doing these sorts of things. All he had done was ask Rachel what she was looking at, and now he finds himself having agreed to go along on her shopping expedition.

He's not laden down with bags, yet, but if it goes the way things usually do, it's only a matter of time. With a small sigh that she hopefully won't hear, he trails along after her.

Sandy wasn't much of a shopper as a rule. She liked to spend money on things yeah but she also never had alot of money to spend at home so she wasn't used to it.

She was taking her time though and picked up a hat that clearly wasn't of Earthly origin. Might be cool through? How would you even describe that color?

Rachel was perusing the clothing racks with a purpose, already making note of the best deals and clothes in the place. She wasn't totally ready to buy yet-- there was nothing so remarkable that it didn't merit comparative hunting-- but she was making notes internally. As she looked across the one side, though, she caught a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye, and stopped for a moment. She was still angry with Marco-- and probably would be for a while-- but...

"Of course that's the first thing you look for," she comments as she comes somewhat closer, rolling her eyes emphatically.

Rachel walked just a bit ahead of Jamie with a confident swagger, scoping out the various stalls, trying to pick where to draw first blood. There were a lot of shops, and they had a lot of ground to cover still.

And naturally, she hears the sigh. With a quick glance over her shoulder, a vaguely annoyed look, she says, "This is for your own good, you know."

Browsing through the shop, Rachel was still hunting when she saw the largely unfamiliar girl out of the corner of her eye, picking up a hat. A hat that was... kind of unfortunate, in Rachel's opinion.

"... you aren't thinking about getting that are you?" she asked, eyes narrowed.

Sandy looked up surprised to hear someone talking to her and looked back to the hat, "Is something wrong with it?" Oh for the horribly fashion lacking. This child clearly had been abused all her life with a lack of style. The only thing she wore over her plant suit was a ratty striped shirt.

Marco eyed Rachel, wary. He was well aware of the fact that Rachel was still angry at him, and he knew well enough that you had to watch out for an angry Rachel.

Well. Angrier Rachel. Angry was kinda Rachel's normal state anyway.

"Right, and what are you looking for first? Designer miniskirts?" Marco said sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

Of course she heard that, Jamie thinks with another sigh - this one purely internal. Just his luck. His mouth pulls off to one side, matching her vaguely annoyed look with one of his own. "I don't see why following ye around while ye look at some frocks is something that's for my own good."

Oddly enough, he's still following her even despite his protesting. This is, quite possibly, because he hasn't quite caught on to any plans that she might have in regards to himself just yet. Either that or he doesn't really have anything better to do.

Rachel glared at him for the comment, crossing her arms over her chest. Of course he'd shoot back about the clothes shopping-- it's not like she was surprised by the comment, at any rate.

"Or maybe just some more real clothes," she said. Rein's stuff was fine-- but limited, at the time. She didn't want to rely on one girl to make clothing for her. "Some people prefer to look like they care how they look."

At least Jamie has his own attitude-- Rachel was not exactly a fan of people who just sort of let people walk all over them, no question. "'Frocks,' really?" She repeated, before she said: "And trust me. You need to be here for this." Not only will she hopefully teach him a thing or two, but she will gladly shell out some of her own 'allowance' to outfit him. The guy really needs some help.

Rachel rose one eyebrow at the comment she got back, about the hat. Was something wrong with it? Definitely. She took a few strong strides forward, and took the hat from the girl's hand, while giving her a look up and down. "Short answer? Yes."

She probably needed help in general, if she thought the hat was good. And the outfit was unflattering. Rachel herself wore the plantsuit under jeans, a form fitting t-shirt, and a jean jacket. Simple, but attractive. "You can't tell?"

Sandy looked back at it and shrugged, "I thought it looked cool, different you know?" She looked back at the selection, "Don't have alot of clothes at home and even less on Stacy."

"Whereas some people just look good naturally," Marco said, smirking. "But seriously. You're not going to spend all your money on clothes, are you?"

"Dresses, then, if ye like," Jamie retorts, coming dangerously close to pulling another face at her. It doesn't quite materialize, however. "Look, what does it matter what they're called? Clothes are clothes."

Hopefully Rachel has a large store of patience today. Jamie is going to be a tough nut to crack when it comes to what she has in store.

"Fine, then, if ye want to look at dresses, let's go," he grumbles, then looks at her expectantly. Well?

"They're surprisingly rare," she shot back, "I know I've never met anyone like that." Then, she rolled her eyes again. "Better than video games, if you ask me. And I'll buy some food, too, anyway." In other words: mostly.

"I actually prefer pants to dresses and skirts," Rachel said, "Unlike some people." There was a Look back at Jamie at that, but she wasn't sure if he'd even get where the jab was aimed. At any rate, pants were more effective for moving and looked good.

"Whatever, follow I guess," she said, but her stride was still plenty confident-- she was going to be so into this.

"'Different' doesn't always mean 'cool'," Rachel commented, using the girl's own terminology. But hearing her explanation-- that made sense, anyway. "So you basically don't know what you're doing with this stuff, then?"

Sandy shrugged again, "So long as I'm warm and covered it never really mattered." And even warm was a stretch considering how it always rained, "What are you like an expert?" Oh Sandy, if you only knew.

"Sure you have, you just haven't realised that their good looks weren't the result of hours and hours of work," Marco replied. "Oh man, we so need to stock up on food. I am sick of gloop. How many packets of two minute noodles do you think we'll need in order to never have to eat it again?"

"And looking good never really mattered?" Rachel asked to clarify, voice sceptical. That was kind of unfortunate. Sure, practicality mattered a lot, but...

Her expression changed into a smile at that question. "Something like that," Rachel said cheerfully. "So I think I should help you out here."

"Well, no not really. Actually it was probably better not to stand out." Sandy mused thoughtfully.

Still, she was offering...

"Alright, but I'm not agreeing to anything I don't like."

"Oh, really?" Rachel asked, voice clearly sceptical. "Can't say I know anyone who looks like they've tried, either."

She frowned at the food suggestion. "Way too many," she said. "And you can get all the noodles you want, I think I'd prefer some real food." Even if noodles were still better than 'gloop'.

"And looking like you don't really care about appearance doesn't stand out?" she asked. For emphasis, she gestured to the 'interesting' hat. Lack of fashion was pretty distracting, in her view.

Great, so here was another person Rachel could help out with. Plus, shopping was shopping. "Trust me, you'll like it."

"Ha ha, very funny," Marco said, rolling his eyes. "And how long do you think real food is going to last? If we don't want to be back on gloop in a few weeks, we're gonna need stuff that'll last."
