Shore Leave: Arrival
After the briefing, the Orbs Deck disconnected from Stacy, making it's way down to the planet and landing on the top of what looked like...a mall.
Outside, a mismatch of buildings stretched as far as the eye could see on a backdrop of a sunny green sky, a few golden clouds lazily floating across it. Here there was a mall, there there was a endless parade of street shops, and over there was a bazaar. And everywhere you looked there was advertising, selling everything from kitchen knives to starship engines to pet cosmetic surgery.
And populating this world was a practically endless number of species's, all of them brought together by one thing: trading. Credit was being exchanged everywhere you looked, from the shiny exclusive stores to the the dark and dangerous spaces in-between.
As the crew stood around, a peculiar looking alien with a mustache approached them, his oddly-shaped legs and knees making it looks as if he was walking backwards even though he was coming forwards. And as he moved, his accordian-like midsection made moved, making a weird, wheezing noise that might remind some of the crew native to Earth of the sound of Fran Dresser's voice.
<Welcome to XaXing, strangers!> he said to them in thought-speak, eagerly rushing towards everyone. <I am Guide! Your ship has already arranged accommodation for you, and I have been employed to guide you there and answer your questions! But if you would just sell me your memories then I can also guide you to all of the best stores and markets...>

He already knew exactly what most of his credits were going to be spent on: meat, alcohol, and other food items. He had very simple needs. The rest of it was likely to be spent on presents for the people he'd come to consider friends and family on the ship.
He was more than happy to have Chase accompany him, as well, for more reasons than another person to help carry things.
The... creature, whatever it was, that greeted them earned a quirked eyebrow ridge, "I'll keep my memories, thanks." Even the human set he'd received in Fairplay.

Yeah, creepy as hell, but Chase's world was awful. He's not entirely above dealing in the creepy with some things that will regrow anyway, if it means that Kang can keep the ship, and more specifically him, in real meat instead of slop for longer, or he can get some real SoCo or at least strong whiskey.

He had some experience with... something akin to this, maybe. Worth checking.
"And he ain't selling nothing, but I'm still curious what'cha got big markets for. Might not come to nothing, but doesn't fucking hurt to ask, right? Oh yeah, and if you ever heard of a place called Earth, don't suppose you know where music or alcohol from there might be bought, would'ja?"
All worth asking, at minimum, he figures. This thing might be a bottom-feeding sleaze merchant, but he's met worse.

Back to Kang again. "Besides... I am already fucking sick of slop. It works and all, but its worse than McDonalds, and my people are carnivores. If we don't get shore leave often, and we're stocking up on meat, I'm gonna make the best of it and get some real fucking money for this."

Well, he could part with a few. They'd grow back.
"...alright. Three scales, and it's a deal."

Still, there were some memories that Dhianeila preferred not to share, but overall the idea of sharing important things, great experiences could influence others.
"Kang," she greeted afterwards with a small bow. "If you would be willing to take them, you can use the credits I have received to purchase things that would be beneficial to both our ship and its crew. I feel the presence of many down on the planet, so I will not be able to personally go down there to retrieve things myself."

He returned the bow with a smile, "I can do that. Is there anything you'd like me to pick up for you specifically, Dhianeila?"

She stood up straight, looking down the street at the multitudes of people, both ship crew and other visitors alike. "I think it's amazing that there's such a large hub for this sort of trading, don't you?"
