In Which the Overlord Dislikes What He Sees [Open]

In roaming the ship, out of an increased sense of irritation and impatience, Zetta had discovered someplace new to him.

Most of the murals and paintings and sculptures in the place, disturbing though they might be to a mortal mind, gave the Overlord no pause whatsoever. In his thousands of years, he had seen the death of worlds, the descent into madness of some truly great minds, the greatest depravities of the Netherworlds, and Mickey in a feather boa. These 'alarming' sculptures couldn't dare disturb the mental integrity of the Overlord! Hyaaa ha ha ha ha!

...What DID shock him, though, was the statues beneath a giant head-sculpture thing. Two of them, in fact: the first an obstinate Overlord, arms crossed and looking stubborn, his back to the second; the second a woman walking away, stoic despite tears.

"What the... What the HELL is THIS crap?!" Zetta demanded of the room in general and the cosmos at large.

She looked at him curiously, not having understood the statement. "Not sure, with the rest of your day I guess. You seemed to have calmed down a lot regarding the statues, so I was wondering what you were gonna do."

The stat--

THE STATUES!

"THE STATUES!" Zetta roared, looking back at the offending sculpture. "Help me smash the crap out of this thing!" he insisted.

But even as he did, the statue shifted to reveal a Zetta who looked all of six years old, standing in front of what simply had to be his parents. The resemblance was too obvious to deny.

She arched a brow and looked at him incredulously. "Why would you want to destroy them Zetta?" she questioned.

She turned to the statues and tilted her head curiously. "Zetta?" she asked, as she moved towards the new scene.

"...The hell? What IS this crap?!" Zetta demanded. "Why--why is this statue showing stuff about me?!"

She looked at the scene curiously, walking in between the statues studying them. "What happened here?" She asked the Overlord, a curious concerned expression on her face.

"Nothing happened," Zetta said, irritated. "That's just Mom and Dad."

She looked back and forth before turning to the Overlord. "So you're demons mate as well? Not so different from the ones in my world. Did your parents love each other?" She asked curiously.

"Of course not," Zetta said reflexively. "They were constantly trying to kill each other."

"Oh... Guess they're not that much different from normal demons back home either. What about you? Did you like your parents? Or were you out to kill them too and vice versa?" She asked as she walked over and studied kid Zetta's statue.

"Of course I was!" Zetta snapped, again without even thinking about it. "I just never managed."

The statues wavered abruptly, and then suddenly added two more demons into the mix -- a pair of what could only be Zetta's siblings, each younger than he was.

Ronnae blinked at the new statues questioningly before looking at Zetta. "You didn't kill your siblings... did you?"

Zetta gave her a baffled look. "What? Why the hell would I do that? They're only dead because they were in my castle when I lost my Netherworld."

"So you cared about them then?" She continued prodding in a friendly manner.

"They had enough strength to keep around and not enough to be worth crushing," Zetta said before she even finished the question.

She sighed. "Somehow I feel you did care. And if not for them, you must have felt you cared for someone, maybe that apprentice... I just wonder what made you so bitter about it." She moved next to Zetta, looking at him curiously.

"You're sure you're not just seeing what you want to see?" Zetta asked.

She smiled at him, "Could be, but I don't think so. It's alright if you don't want to talk about it. You can always call on me if you need to talk or for anything really."

"I still don't get what you're ON about, how the hell could I talk about it?" Ronnae was lucky; Zetta was grumbling so furiously he'd totally missed the opportunity to leer at her and make a bad crack about what 'anything' entailed.

Good thing too! "Sheesh Zetta, I don't get it. It's like one moment you sound like you're getting it, then the next you get frustrated and say you don't. Regardless, I'm glad I got to see this and know a bit more about you, no matter how stubborn you're being." She sighed, but laughed a bit.

"All I GET is that you want me to be some lovey-dovey stars-in-my-eyes hearts-in-my-hair family man or something! And demons don't DO that!" Never mind the statue damn it!

She frowned a bit, "No, I would never want anyone to be something they're not. What I wanted was to know more about what was being displayed on the statues, and wonder why you never gave it a chance with the girl, that's all. I also wish you'd stop promoting yourself as the poster boy for the most cliche'd stereotypes about demons. I know you're better than that, you've shown it to me."

"...I'm the badass freaking Overlord!" Zetta said in something like shock. "I'm the freaking embodiment of those cliched stereotypes! To be anything less would be an insult to the title of Overlord and the demon race!"

"Because you're THE badass freaking Overlord it the main reason why you should be making fads or stereotypes, and not following them. I mean really, who respects someone who falls into the usual cliches?" She teased Zetta with a quirked brow.

"Because I'm the paragon of them!" Zetta countered. "I'm at the top of the game! That means I DEFINE the damn cliches, I don't 'fall into' them! I am what I am because of who I am and who I am becomes what it is!"

She sighed. "This is going nowhere... fine, I submit. You win as usual." She threw her hands up in frustration and sat down to look at the different statues. Her attention always came back to Zetta's however, wondering why in his world everything was so black and white and yet.... He didn't seem like that... So why be so adamant about claiming to be.... She didn't understand...
