PJs and Movies [Backdated to before Possession Plot]
This was very likely the most normal his life had been in the past four years. There was something sad about that, but he wasn't thinking about that right now.
Right now there was Bobby with his head resting on his thigh and a movie from his childhood playing on the TV and his head was completely his own. All good things, comfortable things, safe things.
It was relaxing, and that was all, the wag of Bobby's tail and the quiet voices from the TV. It was nice to do something that didn't need to mean anything.

She slid off the couch, allowing Dean time to sit and settle before she joined him. In the meantime, she smiled at Tom. "Gorram," she said, a little more clearly. "Like damn, little more powerful meanin' than that. Lot of people here use 'goddamn' instead?"

He also smirked toward Sam, "Dude, who wants giant floppy haired kids anyway?" Even if he wouldn't mind being an uncle to Sam's kids if it came to that.

He rolled his eyes and flipped Dean off instead. "You'd love them and you know it." Because family was sacred to them both.

"Oh. So it's a curse word." He tipped his head. "Seems like that's all I end up picking up." He lifted a finger, tapping it against his forehead. "I'm pretty sure of the standard galactic language all I know is curse words and 'open' and 'locked.'" He smiled faintly. "I know about a hundred dirty words that I could safely use without my mother knowing I was using them."
He looked down at the dog, then back at Sam, giving Bobby a soothing pat. "Everyone else seems to have shown up. I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up without warning.

She let go of Dean quick enough to give him a small thwap on the side of his head. "I'd like to see 'em, Sam. Think they'd be cute as buttons, with that hair of yours. Think Dean'd make some pretty nice ones, too..."

He got really quiet when she mentioned the idea of his kids, and just mumbled, "Bet they'd be cute like their momma."
no subject
Huh. He hadn't realized it was quite THAT serious.
"Come on. You know the kids would be awesome. Momma's smile and Daddy's pout?" Just a little teasing to defuse things.

Tom smiled, eyes dancing with happiness, unable to help himself, fingers still buried in Bobby's fur. It felt warm and nice. Perfect, like a slice of pure and utter normalcy. Like family. This was what normal families did, wasn't it? He thought it might be. Was this how he and Jake should have acted? "And you'd all be great parents." Anyone who could put up with a broken teenager trying to put himself back together with nothing but scraps couldn't be anything but.
"But they'd all probably end up with Sam's hair. All those curls. Is that why you wear your hair short, Dean?" He grinned, unable to say anything really, his own hair was a hopeless mess of them.

She trotted in the door and made a beeline for the sounds buzzing through the house - familiar voices, that made her hold her tail high.
Of course, she noticed the dog as soon as she stepped through the doorway and froze, her fur standing up along her spine. She pulled her pre-loaded personal shield out of the catalog of spells in her mind and held it there, waiting for the activation word.

Right, back to Tom.
"More a shift, I think. A lot of it's a mix of English 'n Mandarin, which I'm glad Stacy takes care of for me sometimes." Kaylee had more than enough trouble trying to explain the little bits of Mandarin that occasionally got through the translators. Poor Jamie...
Oh, but there was a cat at the door now. Kaylee eyed Bobby warily, ready to reach forward and grab him if need be. No use in knocking Sam around more than once today, right?
no subject
Right, anyway. Bobby was getting up to bark at Rhiow, but Dean spoke up over the barking, "Hey Rhiow, it's ok, it's just Bobby, he's friendly."
no subject
Which, now that he thought about it, was probably one of the reasons why he was so interested. New scent plus having smelled it on Sam before probably made the pup curious, at least. He looked over at Rhiow, then pushed Bobby down off his lap. He kept hold of Bobby, though, following him over and keeping him back a few paces. "I think he only wants to meet you?" he said. "Though you probably know better than I do."
Rhiow said that everything spoke the Speech. So it was entirely possible she knew exactly what Bobby was saying.

He felt like someone should tell Bobby that even if he took it into his head that he was the sort of dog that chased cats, chasing that cat was very bad for his health.
He flinched automatically, expecting another swift introduction of Bobby's paws to his stomach.
He stayed quiet, watching Rhiow curiously over the back of the couch, completely distracted from the movie by now. They hadn't really met since their introduction, and that had been rushed at best, considering Shiva and bombs and the fact that there had been no way in hell Iniss was going to let go of control just so he could say hello.

"Houiff," Rhiow said, vaguely disgusted. Her fur still bristled, and she kept the spell loaded, but she trotted up to Bobby all the same, sharing scents with him. He smelled not quite as disgusting as Earth houiff, which was a comfort. "Behave yourself or I'm going to open your nose up." She flexed her claws to let him know he wasn't kidding, and jumped up onto the arm of the sofa. "I am of the People. Our species is felis catus, or the common housecat."
"I'm a dog!"
"Yes, I know that." Rhiow turned her attention away from the puppy - he was young, after all, she couldn't expect him to speak sense. "I'm sorry I haven't been around in some time, I've been monitoring the progress of the new railway going through Grand Central. I hope you're well."
Mentally, she added a quiet Hello to Schmuz. Never one to leave him out of the conversation.
no subject
"Love to teach you," she replied to Tom, obviously excited by the idea. "If we can get the translators to calm out for a bit I think it'd be shiny." It wouldn't be hard, she didn't think, and all they really needed at first were a few key phrases and words. The rest would come with time.

Dean pouted at Kaylee but settled against her, his hands now just at her hips to keep her steady as they sat there.
"You gonna watch a movie with us Rhiow? And we should have got snacks for this."
no subject
"I'm not sure what's up after Homeward Bound, which is what we're watching now." He glanced up at the movie. "Have been watching, at least. I think we're kind of close to the end." Sam straightened, heading back for the couch. "What else do we have?"
no subject
He watched Bobby and Rhiow curiously, head tilted to the side and hoping the puppy didn't get in over his head. A tiny bit of the tension crept out of him when Rhiow got off the floor, nodding to the black cat politely. "Hello, Rhiow." It felt a little strange to be addressing a cat. Like maybe almost verging on crazy cat lady behavior, though this cat at least talked back. Hardly the strangest thing that had happened to him in the last half decade.
"Uhhhh, I mostly grabbed Disney Movies and comedies. Probably most of the early 90s is down there somewhere. You guys can pick whatever."
no subject
Rhiow was keeping an extremely close eye on the dog - but he seemed to be behaving himself. At least, she reminded herself, he didn't smell like a dumpster. "I hope you've been well, T-hom. I would have looked you up before now but like I said, busy. Entropy keeps running."
no subject
The idea of scented movies caught Kaylee's attention. "Seen somethin' like that before. More them throwin' scents around in the room through vents under your chair to help with the feelin' of really being there than to tell the story, though."
