Not exactly my style... [OPEN]

On the rare occasions when his life called for something more formal than a loud shirt and pants with grease stains, Wash didn't mind looking formal. But there was something different about a nice suit and a uniform like this.

Wash kept tugging at the sleeves as he walked through Stacy's corridors - Rein's tailoring was perfect, it wasn't like they were too short. It just felt restricting, in a way Wash wasn't really used to. The duty uniforms were less stiff, but he couldn't deny that the dress uniforms looked good.

He wondered what Zoe would have thought if she could see him in it. Would she like it? More likely she'd tease him for going so law-abiding and buttoned up.

((OOC: Here is Wash all shiny in green.))

Wedge had to smile as he turned a corner and came upon another person in the bottle-green uniform of Starfighter Command. They weren't quite what he was used to, but they were nice enough. The squadron color-coded undershirts were a nice touch, too.

"I see you've been to see Rein as well."

Wedge is totally used to the uniform thing. He's been in the military for almost his entire adult life.

"She's certainly bubbly, that's for sure. And she does excellent work. Probably the most comfortable dress uniform I've ever worn."

He shook the offered with a grin.

"Good to meet you, Wash. Commander Wedge Antilles, CO of Rogue Squadron."

"I was. I'm the one who got this whole Starfighter Command thing going, but...eh, I got shoved into the pods for some reason. Again. I just got back out recently." Wedge shrugged. Wasn't much that could be done about it.

A little guy with a metal leg was trudging through the hall, too, and he trotted to catch up to Wash, looking at the uniform.

"That, very, uh...green."

Weird outfit and he'd seen some weird outfits on board.

"I say this as someone who very often wears green. It's just really...green. One might say exceedingly green."

The little guy might just be ragging on your clothes, Wash.

It was good-natured though. He got the vague impression it was a uniform of some kind, especially since General Chacon had announced uniforms, and thus wondered why anyone would pick that color for multiple people to have to wear.

Your ego can take it, Wash. He was just teasing.

"Or you walk down the hallway and they say, 'oh hey that guy is a walking cabbage.'"

Wandering down the corridors is Jamie, currently engrossed in doing some finger exercises on his chanter and paying very little attention to where he's going.

It's a good thing that the uniform is so distinctive, as it's that flash of green that alerts him to Wash's presence early enough that he's able to step to the side and avoid walking into the other man.

"Oh, sorry. I almost didn't see ye there," he says, apologetically. He's finding it hard to look away from the uniform now that he's noticed it, however. That's very, very green.

Done in Engineering for the day (shift? hour? Who really knew on this boat), Kaylee was making her way toward the City, tool bag slung over her shoulder and pushed out of the way while she attempted to rub off at least some of the slime off of her hands. Some of the repairs on Stacy were messy, and not in the good engine-grease kind of way. No, these were the pretty-sure-that's-giant-ship-mucus way.

Yuck.

So here she was, minding her own and half-hopping down the hallway when a flash of green caught her attention. It took her a moment to register that there was a person in that green, and another to realize it was her pilot. Wash. In a uniform.

Kaylee fought back the urge to bust out laughing and gave Wash a grin instead. "Lookin' like you're ready for duty, sir."

"Yeah. Not exactly the most fun thing in the galaxy, obviously." Wedge replied, shrugging.

"I'm back out, though, thank the Force. And got a bit of catching up to do."

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2011-01-16 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"'M sorry, I really am," Kaylee laughed. "It just. Think maybe that's louder'n your shirts, you know it? Looks like it fits alright, though. Can you still fly with them sleeves?"

She couldn't help but tease. He just looked so much like he belonged on a Cruiser. Zoe would be getting a kick out of this...

"And if you really wanna get technical, you're flyin' the two coolest ships on this boat. Just one of 'em ain't so much flyin' right now as she is playin' house 'n home."

"Not so spritzy?" Because, face it, these uniforms looked like they were getting ready for some big shot commander's funeral-in-green.

There was no disagreeing that Serenity was home long before she was grounded. "Be nice to take her up for a run one of these days, if Stacy'd go for it." Kaylee had been careful to keep the ship in repair, ready to go whenever she might be needed, but there were some working parts you couldn't keep up without actually working them.

He heard something about the uniforms, and frankly he was kind of glad he was mainly Security and Strike Team these day. Who needs a freaking monkey suit like that? He'll stick with his jacket and jeans, thanks. (Or at least until somebody points out that Security should get uniforms too.)

He was on his way to the hangar to check some things with the Impala, and maybe catch up with Kaylee again, before he noticed the guy with red hair in green.

Dean tried to hide the amused snort, or at least, he'll swear he tried to hide it.

"Least you'll be easy to spot if anybody's gotta run around lookin' for you...though if they got their mechanics wearin' the same." Kaylee scrunched her nose. Those things would be a mess in the engine room, comfort or not.

"Don't see why she wouldn't, less it was just a quick stop... Was actually headin' for the City, but I wouldn't mind a quick walk over if it meant a change 'a clothes before I showed up at the tavern." Because really, who on this boat wanted to work at anything while half-covered in ship snot.
