Winter Wonderland: Southern Tribe Style

She thought it would be impossible at first: the idea of keeping the area around the Outsider's hotel that cold, and keeping snow on the ground with just the use of water? It sounded crazy, and Katara had been wondered if she was skilled enough to do it. It was why she and Sokka hadn't had their Southern Water Tribe thing: it would have just been re-imagined in the Sensorium, and in a way that was almost cheating. The real experience, ice cold water and all, needed to be had, and there were certainly enough people on Trans 9 who could have used a little playtime.

That was, of course, before she had time to think. In time, she was beginning to see that where she had failed was really in her own confidence level: she could see her limitations, and didn't go further than what she could do. The longer she did that though, was more time she realized she had to be trained in other ways, if water wasn't available. It was hard to think about, but she had to be ruthless in her ability to be able to take down a person if she needed. This kind of fighting, though, felt much like murder. So after the Yeerk incident, she made a promise to never raise a hand against a person in that way, like her anger towards Jet or Zuko in the past. To do that would edge closer to that place, and she needed to remember the true goal: standing against the Ohm.

That said, she learned a great deal of other things, like how to super extend her breath, how to manipulate her body much more than she had before, and how to strengthen your feel of "wave" so much your arms were hardly ever tired. Now she found that this was possible, all that was needed was the water. With Stacey's approval, this happened.

And so Katara got to work, bobbing and weaving, guiding the water to solid water, using force to create that into powdered snow. It was work that would have severely diminished her in the past, but now it was simply a joy to be bending again, to have her element all around her instead of just contained in a small pouch, and she let loose. The snow was an interesting sensation, it was like shaping ice and then shaking it between her fingers: it littered the ground all around the Outsider's backspace, and she was glad that they had that backspace to begin with. She figured that once this was over, the water would bee used for the sauna, so she figured one last bit of fun would be a good thing.

"Okay!" She said after awhile, looking around her. "Now hopefully people will come!"

"And if you really want to get some practice doing stuff, aim it this way. There's nothing you can do that can take ME out, and my minions are just constructs."

Actually, he'd offer Hit Girl and Ruffnut up for experimentation, but he figured Alex would freak out. So, not going down that road.

Alex would indeed freak out. He would also be clobbered. Not that Zetta couldn't pound him into the ground.

He had been doing a little shadow-training with Mikel before the ship, but he hadn't done any training since he had arrived here. He had just started some physical training with Zuko before he got taken back by Stacy.

He wasn't sure how much longer he'd have to deal with these powers, so some more training would probably serve him well.

"I-I guess... I c-could. I w-was supposed to t-test the l-limits of m-my shield, b-but the ship took us b-before we c-could."

"Start back up," Zetta said dispassionately. "Find out your limits. Try it in the sensoriums, that's what they're there for."

"W-with you?" Zetta was definitely stronger than Mikel at least. His minions had to be pretty strong too. "I-I think I c-can do that."

"Hmph. You want someone you can't hurt, right? It'd take about ten thousand of you to catch my attention!" The book grinned, though it'd clearly pulled the number right out of its ass. "And maybe you can take out some of those frustrations I keep getting worked up in you."

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alex smiled a bit. Yeah, someone he couldn't hurt would be good. Even if he slipped up and was overshadowed, he couldn't imagine actually hurting Zetta, whatever he did. "I-I don't h-hold frustrations f-for long, Zetta. I n-never have been able to. B-but I'll b-be glad that I c-can't hurt you."

"Hyaaaa ha ha ha! That'll be interesting! Usually it's all, 'the Ovelord is too strong! We can't hurt him! Why? Whyyyyy?'"

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Alex laughed. It would be him that would be glad that he couldn't hurt someone. That was why his powers was all shields and keeping people at bay, and so terrible at actually causing harm. "S-so, you'll h-help?"

"I've said from the beginning that you should be training more! I'm sure not going to suddenly tell you no, you shouldn't!

Zetta-logic at its finest. It's not helping. It's telling Alex what to do!

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Alex was the submissive type. Telling him what to do usually got him to do a lot. It got him to start training with Zuko so he wouldn't always need to rely on his shadow powers to protect his friends. And now Zetta is getting him to start training with the shadows he hates.

"I-I've never been good w-with training."

"Well, looks like you're getting a new skill for the resume, then." You're not getting out with that feeble excuse, Alex.

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2011-01-11 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
He scratched at the back of his head nervously. "I'm g-gonna regret y-you t-training me, a-aren't I?"
