Winter Wonderland: Southern Tribe Style

She thought it would be impossible at first: the idea of keeping the area around the Outsider's hotel that cold, and keeping snow on the ground with just the use of water? It sounded crazy, and Katara had been wondered if she was skilled enough to do it. It was why she and Sokka hadn't had their Southern Water Tribe thing: it would have just been re-imagined in the Sensorium, and in a way that was almost cheating. The real experience, ice cold water and all, needed to be had, and there were certainly enough people on Trans 9 who could have used a little playtime.

That was, of course, before she had time to think. In time, she was beginning to see that where she had failed was really in her own confidence level: she could see her limitations, and didn't go further than what she could do. The longer she did that though, was more time she realized she had to be trained in other ways, if water wasn't available. It was hard to think about, but she had to be ruthless in her ability to be able to take down a person if she needed. This kind of fighting, though, felt much like murder. So after the Yeerk incident, she made a promise to never raise a hand against a person in that way, like her anger towards Jet or Zuko in the past. To do that would edge closer to that place, and she needed to remember the true goal: standing against the Ohm.

That said, she learned a great deal of other things, like how to super extend her breath, how to manipulate her body much more than she had before, and how to strengthen your feel of "wave" so much your arms were hardly ever tired. Now she found that this was possible, all that was needed was the water. With Stacey's approval, this happened.

And so Katara got to work, bobbing and weaving, guiding the water to solid water, using force to create that into powdered snow. It was work that would have severely diminished her in the past, but now it was simply a joy to be bending again, to have her element all around her instead of just contained in a small pouch, and she let loose. The snow was an interesting sensation, it was like shaping ice and then shaking it between her fingers: it littered the ground all around the Outsider's backspace, and she was glad that they had that backspace to begin with. She figured that once this was over, the water would bee used for the sauna, so she figured one last bit of fun would be a good thing.

"Okay!" She said after awhile, looking around her. "Now hopefully people will come!"

Three of Zetta's minions were having a vigorous snowball fight that ranged across the length and breadth of the snow field, laughing and giggling despite the fact that it was honestly pretty vicious.

Meanwhile, if one looked closely, the bottom edge of a discarded book could be seen sticking out of a snow drift. In the air, the faintest of snow-muffled profanities.

Frankly, it's a miracle the snow hasn't melted from the sheer vehemence of his cursing.

Luckily, the Sacred Tome is tough and very water-resistant, especially with a demon soul possessing it. So Zetta was probably okay physically. Mentally... well, it's not the worst he'd endured, but his poor dignity.

"Get me outta here!"

"My stupid minions tossed me aside to go have fun!"

Zetta shot a glare at the minions, that became a glint in his eyes, that became -- "ZETTA BEAM!" Twin bolts lanced out from his eyes. The minions flung themselves aside and the blast hit a snowdrift, which exploded upwards to fall back down onto the scene. His minions laughed all the harder as they ran around trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues.

Zetta shot them an infinitely dirty look, then subsided into grumbling.

"O-of course I'm okay! I'm Zetta! A little snow? Pfah! I barely even noticed it!"

"They're supposed to be mindless constructs," Zetta grumbled.

Alex might not have talked to the book in quite a while, but that did not mean he would forget him. He was a talking book. How could he?

He walked over to him and carefully pulled him out of the snow. "Wh-where'd your minion g-go?"

Alex shows up carrying a few of the food-tray-things from the cafeteria. What was a snow-day without stealing trays from the cafeteria and using them for sledding? They might not be quite the same as the plastic ones from his home, but he figured the fact that they were less durable just made it into a more entertaining challenge.

Before he got to sledding though, he had something more important to attend to. He made he way over to Katara and waved, biting his lower lip nervously.

Alex must cheerfully endure a three-minute long tirade which utilized profanities from numerous languages in numerous worlds across all existence. Zetta was nothing if not thorough.

"--Over THERE!" he wrapped up at last, glaring daggers at his primary minion, who -- despite her overall lack of clothing -- was tackling a merchant-minion into a snowdrift while laughing. "This isn't fun time!" he roared at his battle-monkeys, who ignored him.

"I was upset about being discarded by my loyal minion!" Zetta said, his voice hitting that particular note of anger that indicated he was losing his cool. "That's NOT supposed to happen!"

He nodded, his voice caught in his throat. It was awkward enough having asked about eating the shadow on the comms. Now that he was here in person, he wasn't entirely sure how to go about it.

"I-I w-was thinkin' m-maybe after... th-that w-we c-could sled the w-way we do s-sometimes in m-my world, s-since there's n-no penguins h-here..."

Alex spend most of those three minutes laughing slightly at the Great Overlord's aggravation.

Alex shoved the book into a bit of a snow drift so that he was kept upright, and then rubbed his arms. "You g-get heavy after a while! I c-can see why she'd w-want a bit of fun after c-carrying you around all day!" He laughed a bit more, "I thought that t-the Most Badass F-Friggin Overlord would like a g-good snowball fight! It's j-just another thing to be Badass at!"

Billy had enjoyed the snow for a good long while, but he soon decided to greet everyone in the lobby and speak to everyone there. All that work had been exhausting, but the happiness he saw on the faces was well worth it.

He greeted anyone who chose to come in with a small smile and cup of hot water. The crudely built mugs worked, and the drinking water was a test of his completed purification system. If only he could offer tea or coffee.

"Hey," he'd say, engaging the others. "What's on your mind?"

He dropped the trays and wrapped his arms around Katara, pulling the shadow into him as he did. It felt a lot like the shadow he had taken from Billy, but this time he was ready for it. He didn't give it a chance to add to the cut on his cheek and the cut on his back from Billy's shadow. Even so, he couldn't stop the tears from filling his eyes.

He stayed there for a second after to take a deep breath. He then stepped back from Katara with his hands still resting on her arms. He wiped the tears out of his eyes and sighed, "I'm s-sorry you h-haveta s-suffer like that..."

Billy managed to smile at her, his posture noticeably straighter and mood lighter after the shadow's removal. "I noticed---but at least the mountain's not overcrowded. You have room to do all of your waterbending tricks!"

He flicked some of the melted snow out of his hair, watching as it hit the fire. So it seemed that both of their burdens had been lifted. Peering at her, he noticed that her confidence was restored. Did Alex take his suggestion and eat other shadows?

"You look better," he noted. "And I suspect that it's not just the snow."

"They're minions! They're constructs! Extensions of my power as an Ovelord! What else WOULD they do?!"

Zetta seems somewhere between stunned and aghast at the very idea.
