Second Life -- Welcome to Fairplay [Stage 1]

It had been the usual mission briefing, not that any of them remembered it. The crew knew they were gone and had no idea when they'd be back, and likely wouldn't attempt rescue for quite some time, especially with Stacy considering the mission "ongoing."

They had no idea when they'd be back, either, namely because they never remembered being on the ship in the first place.

It was home. It had always been home.

Welcome to Fairplay, Iowa, folks, happiest little town in the Midwest.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The sound of Father Thomas' cane echoed through the quiet church as he made his way back inside. He paused for a moment, hearing the quiet sound of pages turning.

"Is someone still there?" he asked.

Nunnally jumped and looked up from the book a bit guiltily. After shutting it and sticking it into its pouch on the back of the pew in front of her, she stood up and replied, "Er, yes, Father Thomas, it's me. Nunnally. I'm sorry, I'll just..."

"No, no," he laughed quietly. "This is a house of prayer and contemplation. It'd be wrong of me to ask you to leave."

The Church of St. Michael was one of the few houses of worship in Fairplay where the grounds were pretty much open 24/7 to anyone wishing to enter, thanks to Father Thomas' policies.

"Ah... yes, of course." She felt sheepish; she'd been taken by surprise and just acted in a reactionary fashion.

"I... I probably should go home, though. I just kind of... got distracted." Didn't want to, was more like it. Didn't feel comfortable at home, didn't know where else to go.

"If you wish," he said simply. "But if there's anything on your mind, I'm always available to talk."

He typically had a sense of when young people were uneasy, and it was obvious Nunnally was.
