The Sinking Feeling You Get When You Eat Magic Food

Welcome meatship crewmembers to the instrument of pure silly.

It had been a long period of waiting, but a prank was about to be issued after these dire dark times. As such, tables were set up around the WITCH Bus and other locations, unmanned stands where Lemonade and Brownies were available with the compliments of your friendly companions.

Do you dare risk chocolately goodness or sour-sweetness to discover it's dark delicious secrets?

(ooc: tag around, bug others and feel free to continue to madness. IC duration is about a day. Unless you deliberately take more with you. As a reminder, Lemonade brings you up ages to a good looking adultish level. Brownies turn you into kids. GO NUTS. Refer to the ooc post for details and ask questions there.)

Well, this should be different - although maybe not completely foreign, depending on how much time Alex spent in Central Park. "Aye, well, this is a wee bit different," he comments dryly.

Once they reach the Sensoriums, Jamie brings to mind a place that he's thought of before, a small loch with a birch tree nearby. It's peaceful, fairly quiet and utterly civilization-free.

Rather than immediately go to the familiar rocky outcropping closest to them, he pauses, glancing over at Alex to judge his reaction. "What do ye think?"

Alex was awestruck. Sure, he'd seen places sort of like this in pictures or on TV, but being there was something entirely different.

Central Park was the closest Alex got to a place like this, and even then it didn't give off anything like the feeling this place gave.

After a long moment of amazed silence he stuttered, "W-w-wow..."

Jamie looks at the area fondly. "Aye, this is my home. Scotland. Or, it was before I met the Doctor. It wasn't always as peaceful as this, though."

The wonderful part about the Sensoriums is that you can pick and choose what you want to experience. Jamie starts rolling up his sleeves even further than before, trying to get them as far up his arm as possible.

"So do ye want me to show ye that trick with the fish, or did ye want to look around for a bit? There's a village about a mile that way, but ye have to go around the loch to get to it."

He looked to the far edge of the loch, and then to the closer bank, "I-I'd like ta s-see that trick, unless... Unless y-you'd rather go to the village?" He follows suit, rolling up his sleeves, much to Alice's annoyance. She moved up onto his shoulder making a chittering noise. "I'm s-sorry Alice, b-but do you r-really wanna g-get all wet?"

"Maybe in a wee bit," Jamie says dismissively. It's not why he came here anyway. He does eye Alice for a moment, thinking about how best to handle that aspect of it.

"Does she have good balance? Ye may need to lean over, depending on how far under the rock the trout is."

Alex laughed lightly, "Sh-she spends mosta h-her time on m-my shoulder, an' I'm n-not exactly graceful." She could hold on when he fell which wasn't a terribly uncommon occurrence. He was certain she'd manage fine with his bending over.

Jamie nods, accepting this. He situates himself on the rock, and says, "Now, what ye are going to want to do is find where the fish is hiding, and then, very slowly, ye want to reach for it and stroke the underbelly. Eventually, it'll go into a wee bit of a trance and then ye can pull it out of the water. Here, I'll show ye."

And he does exactly as he explained, eventually 'hooking' the fish and grasping it in his hand. He lifts it out of the water just long enough to show Alex, then lets it go back into the loch.

Alex smiles in awe, and nods.

He needs to try quite a few times before managing to grab one. Pulling it out of the water, he holds it up, "I g-got it! I r-really got one!"

For his part, Jamie's content to sit and watch Alex attempt to catch the fish, and he's pleased when Alex does manage to finally get the hang of it.

"Good! Ye don't want to keep him out too long, unless you're hungry." Jamie could show him how to clean the fish, too, but that's much less appealing. "Otherwise, ye may want to let him go."

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
That didn't seem to be much of a problem as the fish managed to slip out of Alex's hands and splash back into the water, making Alex stumble back a bit, laughing. "Looks l-like he didn' wanna be dinner!"

Not that Alex would have the stomach to clean a fish. Catch and release was one thing, but actually killing it was something totally different.

Having grown up in a place and time where hunting was much more prevalent, Jamie has no problems with killing something and calling it dinner. Here on Stacy, however, it's not really something he has to do. Not when he can go to the Mess Hall and get a plate of slop and imagine it as an already-prepared meal.

Speaking of which, his stomach reminds him that half the reason he ate the brownie in the first place was because he's hungry - and since he's not about to go for a second one, maybe it's time to go get some of the slop.

"Well, I don't say as I blame him. But...I'd not mind some dinner after all. I think I'm going to head over to the Mess Hall for a wee bit."

[identity profile] hack-rat.livejournal.com 2010-12-19 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Alex realized that he was actually feeling decently hungry as well, but the mess hall wasn't the place that he was actually able to eat at.

"Ah, y-yeah, I-I'm sorta hungry too. B-but this was a lotta fun! I never knew you c-could do that!"

Jamie's answer is a grin. "Aye, well, now ye do. Maybe I'll show ye some other things I used to do sometime, if ye get bored."

For now, though, food first, and Jamie makes his way on out. Whether or not Alex follows him? Well, that's up to Alex. Either way, he knows he'll see the lad later on.
