Punishment [Warning: Graphic Imagery]

As the ship was going about its normal business of the day, everything is interrupted when Stacy broadcasts a message to the crew.

||Attention, crew. Your crew mate, Big Zero, has acquired 15 Violations. Therefore, she will now be given Punishment. According to the guidelines in place for Punishment, you are hereby requested to report to the Observation Deck to view the procedure. Though it is not mandatory, it is suggested you attend anyway.||

||It will serve as a reminder that there are consequences to breaking the rules.||

For those brave souls who decide to attend, they'd find Big Zero strung up, dangling from the ceiling of the Obs Deck by her hands, surrounded by a spherical force field.

It was to prevent anyone from...interfering.

[ooc: Warning, this post will contain some rather graphic imagery. Obviously, you don't have to participate in this thread if you don't want to. If your character would ICly go but you personally don't want to know all the nasty details, ping one of the mods and we'll give you the watered down version for your pup to work with.]

"No," she admitted, fighting the urge to cling to Kang's side. "But as crew I gotta understand, right? And..." She glanced across the room toward Billy. "I can't let him go it alone."

Dammit, that was right. Of course Billy would blame himself for this.

Kang looked down at Kaylee and drew her closer, "I understand."

At least Kaylee could rely on Kang to understand. Out of everyone she normally interacted with, he would probably be the last to make her leave. "Xie xie." She barely noticed that she was holding onto him tighter than she meant to.

It'd been a hard lesson, but Kang had learned his years ago, when it came to such things. If she really felt that she needed to see... well, it wasn't his place to make her leave. She knew the choice she was making.

"Whatever happens, I'm right here with you."

At this point, half of her wished he would send her away, especially as crewmembers continued to file into the room, and the air buzzed with a nervous energy that reminded Kaylee too much of Dobson. But she had made her choice, and she'd stick through it for Billy if nothing else.

She nodded, slow and determined, though it was accompanied by a noise that wasn't so far off from a whimper.

Barely a minute later, it was time. Kang watched as the tentacles moved into place, and almost, almost winced at the screaming. He'd heard it before, many times, during the war, and it had never bothered him. He couldn't help a small bit of pity for BZ, though; even she didn't deserve something like this. There were more effective ways to get the point across.

Kaylee lasted a shorter time than she had expected to. It was going to be gruesome and horrific, she had known that, but actually seeing it play out, hearing each tortured scream, was far beyond what she had anticipated.

For several moments she stared in complete terror, unable to look away. As the limbs began to tear away from the body, however, she found the smallest bit of energy in her to turn sharply away and bury her face in Kang's side. The screaming she could still hear the screaming--

Silently, Kang allowed Kaylee to cling to him, and brought a wing forward and around to hide the sight from her. He didn't look away from it himself.

In a way, not seeing what was happening was almost worse than watching. All Kaylee had to concentrate on were the cries of pain. The wing, while a small comfort, only helped in that isolation.

Over soon. Please let it be over soon.

It felt like hours, but finally it was over. Kang tightened his grip on her, and even went so far as to lean his head down and rest his chin on her shoulder, "It'll be alright. She's still alive."

Still alive. After all of that she was still alive, and Kaylee couldn't help but wonder how. Maybe it was Stacy-- No, she didn't want to think about that either, because it just showed how much Stacy really could do.

She almost regretted working to repair the ship.

Eventually, though she didn't know how long after the fact, Kaylee pulled away from Kang, her entire body shaking and her face tear-streaked. "Kang..." She was going to be sick, she needed to get out of this room and crawl into her bunk and never come out again if it meant facing the idea of working on a ship that had the power to do such a thing.

"Come on, let's get out of here," Kang glanced over at the huddled form of BZ, and the people that were trying to help her. He wondered if this would actually make her learn her lesson, or make her even worse than she was before. Hell, she may not even recover mentally from torture like that.

"You still have tea on Serenity, right? That might help you."

It was hard to imagine anyone recovering from something so obviously awful. Kaylee was reminded almost of Reavers, and how they tortured and killed and left that one survivor with just enough insanity in them to turn...

She leaned on Kang's arm, trying not to hurl all over the deck, and nodded. Serenity would have tea and a bucket and wouldn't look like Stacy.

Kang moved slowly, but at a steady pace, and stayed silent until they reached the hangar, lost in his own thoughts. Luckily for him, he was unlikely to have nightmares over this. The rest of the crew, however... At the moment, though, he was far more focused on taking care of Kaylee. "We're almost there."

Kaylee nodded, concentrating on keeping herself settled long enough to get inside. The cargo bay ramp was down, so it was an easy walk up, across the cargo bay, toward the infirmary...

She ran the last few steps to the nearest sink.

Serenity was a little cramped for Kang, but he'd learned how to best move around inside her. He wasn't surprised, and immediately fetched a glass of water for Kaylee, knowing that she'd want to get that taste out of her mouth. If he actually knew how to brew tea, he would have started it for her.

It wasn't pleasant, and the taste that remained in her mouth after was too close to that of Stacy's slop for comfort. Gratefulness toward Kang growing every minute, Kaylee accepted the water with a small, "Thank you," and proceeded to rinse her mouth. It would be better once she had some tea, she knew. The taste would be hidden under spices and herbs and she wouldn't have to think about it anymore.

"Feel a little better now?" Kang asked, sitting down at the table.

"A bit, yeah..." Once the water was ready, Kaylee poured it into a mug over the already waiting teabag. "If you uh. I'll understand if you need to get back, don't gotta wait here. Think I'll be alright now."

Kang shook his head, "I'm in no hurry." He didn't want to leave her alone quite yet.

"Okay..." She finished pouring her water, and set the pot down. "You want some tea then?"

The tea smelled interesting, but he shook his head again. "I'm not thirsty."

No need to pull down another cup, then. Kaylee grabbed her tea and settled at the table near Kang. "Wash 'n Jayne should be back soon..."
