Mission 01 - Recovery: Group 4
Worf, Kousaku, River, Billy, Javert, and Leon all set off in the direction that Leela had indicated. They skirted the deeper parts of the forest, and seemed to have pretty easy going.
Something had broken them a trail in mostly the right direction, but what?
Or perhaps a better question was: Who?

"Commander, is this where the pod crashed?"

"No! It is still some distance. I am going to move close rand investigate the wreckage here." He suits actions to words, moving towards the wrecked ship with some degree caution.

But he definitely longs to, at the minimum, glance over the shipwreck from a distance.

A child's doll, a sort of lopsided bear-like animal, made of study spill-proof fabric, is sitting there on the seat, also growing mold on its fur, glass eyes staring up at nothing.

Which wasn't to say he wasn't curious. "What is that...thing?"

Unfortunately, there's another issue that needs addressing. "Another piece of evidence supporting the nanite bomb theory. One moment these families were living their lives, only to disappear in the next."
His skin is crawling, and it's not just from the plantsuit cleaning the sweat as it always does. He can almost picture the children, one of them clutching the doll, helplessly sitting there as death swoops in.

"Instantaneously lethal, at least to whatever humanoid life was living here."
Leon reached towards his side for a moment, only to belatedly remember that he didn't have gloves, bags, or vials to hold anything.
"I don't have anything we can use to hold samples. You guys?"
no subject
"Negative. I'd normally utilize the overgrowth as a crude pouch, but we've already crossed the plant life once today."
no subject
"We wouldn't want to risk some kind of contaminant getting loose on everyone else." Because, for Leon, that would the worst possible kind of irony.
no subject
"Unless any of you happen to be carrying some?"
no subject
"If no one has, we should likely continue moving. We're wasting daylight." Javert squared his shoulders and turned his back on the shuttle. "We still have a mission."
no subject
"I agree. We must recover the pod." He gestures in the appropriate direction and sets off.
