A Commander's work is never done

Nathan had finally slogged through the latest backlog about the virus, and the Council's recent decisions. He wasn't entirely surprised about clones, it was a questionable topic back home, and it made him wonder if Primatech would ever have tried such actions. He really wouldn't have been surprised if there was an attempt.

The matter of the Yeerks, he was decidedly mixed on. He could still remember what happened with the attack from the previous Sam Winchester, and the trial. But the law felt they had their rights as well, and he wasn't about to argue on the idea. And this particular one did do much to ensure the casualty count wasn't higher.

He sent out a notice of welcome to the newer crew members, with an offer to stop by his office with any questions and concerns.

Though after his office hours, he stepped out of his office in the city, rocking back and forth on his heels. He then tensed and shot into the sky overhead with a sounding boom across the buildings as he took flight overhead again.

(ooc: Catch him in his office or flying over the city.)

Nathan wasn't the only one in the skies - Marco was in osprey morph, catching the thermals.

Or he was, before some guy (dude, was that Nathan Petrilli?) zoomed past him. Then he was an osprey spinning wildly through the air, thanks to Nathan's turbulence.

<Aaaaaaaaaah!> he yelled in thought-speak.

When he did, he'd find an osprey righting itself. Under normal circumstances, Marco might have tried to pretend he was a real osprey - except he knew he'd already yelled in thought-speak.

And with Iniss now aware that he and the others could morph...well. He still didn't like letting people know about it, but it wasn't the extreme imperative it was before. <Have you ever heard of 'looking where you're flying'?! You know maybe you should try it sometime!>

Marco flew alongside Nathan, trying to keep close enough to hear him. <Hey, are you calling me a little bird? I resent that!>

The amusement in Marco's voice suggest that he doesn't actually resent that, however. (Well. If he were human, he would. Just a little.)

At least Nathan hadn't stopped all together - because birds of prey really weren't build to flying in one spot like a hummingbird and flying in circles around Nathan would have just been annoying.

<So. How's life as The Big Man? Or, to be more accurate, how's life as the The Man Who Is Nearly The Big Man?>

Marco would have shrugged, but that's not really a good idea when you're a bird flying through the air.

<Oh, same old same old. Fly around. Nearly get blown out of the sky by crazy flying man. Cruise for chicks. The usual.>

<You fly around up here often?> Marco asked. He hadn't seen Nathan flying much, but then, Marco didn't go riding the thermals anywhere near as much as Tobias did. He'd only morphed the osprey today on a complete whim.

Flying was always a good way to burn off a little energy. And one good thing about being able to have multiple copies of herself was that when she got bored doing something, she could just leave one where she'd been working and go out for a fly.

The sonic boom got her attention, though, and sent her in that direction. Which just happened to cross Nathan's flight path. "Afternoon, Commander," she said politely.

Apparently the fact that he could FLY didn't phase her much.

"It is." She smiled brightly at that, stopping to hover in the air. "Needed to get some air?"

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The smile got wider. "I know the feeling. Though it's the lab for me. Sometimes you just need to get away from the paperwork and the thinking for a little while."

Not that she ever DOES. Not fully, at least.

"At night or during the day?" It made a difference in Angie's eyes. "I've seen a lot of the world from above and I have to say it almost always looks prettier at night."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh God, yeah." The smile turned a bit wistful. "I grew up in New York. Last kid in a fairly large family. Once I got the nanotech working so that I could fly? One of the first things I did was take a trip over the city to see it."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Angie laughed softly. "I think I'm still in the minority a lot of the time. There aren't a lot of people here who went out of their way in order to get their powers." Not that she'd met, at least. "So some might say this is just me showing off."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
The smile widened and became brilliant. "Thank you. Though to be fair, I might be one of the ones who would say I'm showing off." After all, it wasn't like this was quite normal.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Which got another laugh. "Honestly, I think of all the powers I could have gotten with this, flight is the one that's most like a dream come true."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely." Angie looked around them. "Though this City isn't quite so pretty to look at from above."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"You, sir, are a flirt." Not that she was complaining. Anything but.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope. Not at all." Angie moved a little closer. "Why would I mind a handsome guy flirting with me?"

Okay, technically she sort of had a boyfriend, which was probably a reason. But Jack wasn't there and, last she remembered, they were heading for 'off' anyway.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
She's no politician, so Angie's smile is real. Even through the metal. "Oh, and you know how to give a compliment. You, I like."

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome." Very welcome, honestly, as evidenced by Angie moving a little closer in the air.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Angie smiled at that. "No, I don't have to get back for any particular reason." Since...she was technically still there, doing the work.

Angie gave new meaning to the word 'workaholic'. "Sure. Dinner would be nice. Even if it's just the Sensorium." At least there it didn't taste like slop.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, that would be awesome." She grinned. "Anything in particular I should wear?" Though the Sensoriums would change anything she wore, anyway.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Bet it can't beat my grandma's." Angie grinned. "But yeah, I'll show up in a dress." Nothing silver.

[identity profile] re-engineer.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
She moved closer, kissing his cheek. "It's a date."
