Tavros: What problems? [OPEN]
How long has he been on the ship, a couple of weeks? Three? Time's flown by for the dorky little troll, and he's stopped keeping track. It doesn't seem to matter much, anyway. People go about their business, drama rises and falls, and for the most part he stays out of it.
As much as he's gotten to know and like this mostly-human crew, he has to admit it sucks being the only Alternian on the ship. He'd love to see another grey face or be able to talk about his custodian without having to stop and explain what they are. And of course, there's the matter of the evaluations. He has no idea what to expect or what's going to happen if he fails. When he fails, maybe. Conversations with Alex have made it obvious to him how different troll culture is from the basic human one that governs the ship. Are they going to judge him by their standards? Will he be culled if he answers wrong?
But enough of these depressing thoughts. Alex has been spending time with Luna lately, which has left Tavros free to explore the ship by himself. Today he's decided to see what these sensoriums can really do. First comes the easy part, reconstructing his hive and the area around it purely from memory. Barn, cliffs, and far below, the strip of beach and glittering dark ocean beyond. He's done this before. The darkness is just as comforting as it was the first time.
Now for the hard part.
Tavros closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Happy thoughts, that's how it works, think of good things, and...
He doesn't open his eyes until he feels the wheelchair drop away beneath him. He's still amazed to find himself suspended in the air, nearly seven feet off the ground.
He's flying!
He can't help it. Even homesickness and evaluations can't bring him down now. Grinning happily, Tavros takes off, swooping this way and that, only stopping near cloud level to have another look around. The forest, the ocean, the distant glow and thrum of a city just beyond the horizon, and above him...
Tavros smiles. He's spent enough time staring at these stars to replicate some of the constellations without Stacy's help. And let's not forget the moons, the huge baleful green one and the other tiny and pink.
None of this is going to fix any of his problems, but as far as distractions go, rearranging the stars is a pretty good one.
((OOC: Feel free to hop in! I'm never too busy for another thread. And don't worry, your character should be able to float or "walk" on the open air near him, unless you particularly feel like having them drop like a stone, in which case Tavros will do his best to save them. XD))

The Sensoriums, she found, were actually an excellent way to get rid of some of that tension, not to mentioning kicking a little fake ass when necessary. When she walked in, she found it was being used: a moment later, she also found she was floating off of the ground.
"The fuck?!" She exclaimed, and shattering that illusion, plummeted.
Really Mindy, you should have a better imagination than this.

Tavros stares in horror, then dives after the girl. He's not sure if the sensoriums can kill, but he doesn't want to be the idiot who finds out the hard way.
God, she's falling fast. Tavros narrows his eyes and moves faster. This was his dream, he built it, and he'll be damned if anyone's getting hurt in it.
He catches her by the arms and carefully pulls into a gentle stop a couple hundred feet above the ground. He hovers still, holding her at arms length, staring wide-eyed. Breathing slightly harder from fear and adrenaline, he finally finds his voice.
"Are, are you okay? I'm, uh, I'm really sorry about this..."
no subject
"Are you telling me you can fly now?" she asked, panting. "What's going on here?"
no subject
"No, uh..." oh wow, how awkward. "I'm really sorry, if, if that scared you. I can't fly, not, normally. But in here, I thought, maybe I could at least, um, try. So I did." He grins. "And it works. You could fly too, that is, if you wanted to."
no subject
She rose high in the air, grinning. It had always kind of been a kind of dorky dream, to be able to fly like some of the superheroes in the comic books, and seeing as how the jet pack was gone, why not?
She got higher and higher, now being able to fully appreciate the background around her. "Hey," she called out, "where are we anyway?"

And then she saw Tavros fly by, and her smile widened. She only needed to glance once at the troll boy to tell how happy he was; that pure joy one feels during times like this is almost impossible not to notice.
So when he paused, she called out, waving to him. "Hello, Tavros!"
no subject
"Oh, uh, hey Fate." He grinned back at her. She was one of the first people he'd spoken to on the ship, and she'd done a lot to put his mind at ease about being stuck here. He'd been hoping he'd run into her again.
But still, if she had important business here...
"Um, you can, have the sensoriums, if you want. I was just..."
He glances around. Sky above, ground far below, stars glimmering across the darkened sky.
"...uh, trying something different."
no subject
"Is this your home? It's beautiful."
no subject
"Yeah, um, this is where, I lived. Before I got on the, uh, ship, I mean."
He points down at the structure with the blue windmill blades.
"That's my, hive, down there."

Today, her investigation starts in a Sensorium chamber with no ground beneath her feet. Instead, it's a beautiful sky stretching on seemingly endlessly.
Grinning with delight, she swoops into the air as naturally as she breathes, ready to meet another crew member. His world, as she sees it, is...
"It is beautiful," she whispers, admiring the view and hoping he'll elaborate.
no subject
"Uhh, thanks. It's called Alternia. Um... I don't think, we've met."
no subject
She dives right into things, doesn't she? "Could you manipulate the stars in your Alternia?"
She looks quite tempted to try it herself. She's flown among the stars, sure, but played with them?
no subject
What? The kid knows trolls who call themselves Mindfang and Dualscar when they play their games. It's not too farfetched in his mind.
"And I'm Tavros, uh, Tavros Nitram. I can't... mess with the stars, where I live. I was just, um, doing it in here, for fun."
Go for it, Starfire! You'll mess up his accuracy, but he doesn't care. It'll be gone when he leaves anyway.

The fact that he could fly on his own again, whenever he wanted. That was probably the biggest reason, right there. It was like, if he concentrated hard enough, his prosthetic fin (fond of it as he may have been) and the harness and all of the strange, foreign, human things that covered his scales would just melt away, and he could just fly. Fly like he had never been shot down, fly like he had never--
...Abruptly, the dragon's train of thought seemed to falter, and somewhere in the air nearby Tavros his eyes opened and with a disdainful, reptilian shriek he plummeted toward the earth.
[ooc; quite the opposite, here-- I've been meaning to thread with you but I'm way distracted and busy lately so I apologize if I'm stupidly slow. DX feel free to throw bricks at my head or something if I don't tag in a timely manner. ♥]
no subject
Tavros turns abruptly at the shriek and stares for a moment as Toothless begins his descent. Was that thing his construction? No, he doesn't recognize the species from book, card game, or life experience. One thing is clear, however: dragons are real, and he's inadvertently put one in danger.
Oh, crap.
He takes off after the dragon, looking a little freaked but trying to keep his cool. There's nothing to be afraid of. He can always shut down the simulation or create a huge cushion underneath it to soften the landing, or...
He concentrates, reaching out psychically to calm Toothless down a bit and send him suggestions. He doesn't want to force the issue, but if the dragon gets much closer to the ground, he's going to have to.
Open your wings, dragon. Open your wings, you can fly, I know you can, please just open your wings so I don't have to make you.
no subject
It's not actually his wings that are the problem, Tavros, it's his tail. Toothless yelps in alarm when the troll reaches for him, but it's an oddly familiar gesture and sensation. Tavros was far from the appearance of his human boy (grey skin, dark hair, a good deal smaller, and humans weren't supposed to have horns, were they?) but it was enough like the time they had nearly plummeted to their deaths over a cheat sheet.
Oddly, this memory forced the wind back into Toothless' sails, as he somehow managed to angle his body and his tail just right to where he caught the air and sort of glided toward the earth. If he were a cat his tail would have been bushed out to three times its size by the time he got there, and when he eventually met the ground he dug his claws into the earth for a moment as though wishing to remain there for the time being.
He glanced over his shoulder at Tavros, ears propped to stand straight up to give him a thunderstruck look of confusion. Hi there, funny little human-esque creature, what are you doing there? And by the way, thank you for preventing me from crash-landing in a way that surely would have broken half of my skeletal structure.
no subject
Tavros doesn't see the tail problem, and he looks relieved as Toothless regains control and lands safely. He swoops closers as the dragon gets his bearings and hovers uncertainly nearby. Toothless seems to be fine, except for the minor freakout over what just happened, and he's apparently not angry at Tavros for dropping the floor out from under him. Still, the little troll feels pretty bad about all this.
"I'm really, really sorry about that, uhh, I didn't know anyone else, was in here."

I'm the same way about this one, so we're even I think. XD
I've never done movie fandom before :D I don't really understand how it works!
neither have I before this one! I think it works the same as any other fandom idk O_O;
don't you have to headcanon a lot though? :P
not as much as you'd think, really.
funny you should say that, I was about to mention the books. That I haven't read. XD OH WELL.
I've actually just finished the last of the ones I own, they're kinda fun.

Another thread ok, then?^^
Thus, she simply had decided to explore the area, until she spotted a flying person in the distance.
"Hello." The tiny knight shouted, as she closed towards the other flying person.
Rght on! :D
"Hey, um, Vita," he returns, looking a bit sheepish. "Did you need to use the, sensoriums for something? Because, uh, I was just, plying around."
no subject
"Hello...Tavros." She brought out, and actually...managed to say the name properly! Took her some effort, actually, but then, she had had trouble with the name 'nanoha' years ago.
"I don't really need it, I just wandered by and noticed someone had created this landscape, so I thought to explore it a bit. Is it your work?"
no subject
"Well, uh, sort of. It's, Alternia, which is where I came from."
He shrugs.
"I guess I just sort of, uh, wanted to see home again. And, try some new things."

She finally found him, floating mid-air. The gray of his skin and his horns were rather odd, but they did not particularly offend the eye. He was probably considered a handsome youth from his culture... Though it was always hard to tell ages with other races. She would assume youth until corrected at least.
She settled next to him, looking up to the sky and said, "It is a much kinder light than that of the sun, that of the moon, or in this case moons."
100 comments! I think that means I win. :D
"Oh, um, you mean, the darkness. This is just a, uh, replica of my home planet, Alternia. When I left, uh, we were in the middle of the sixth dark season, so, no sunlight for us anytime soon."
He pauses, looking a bit shy.
"You... like it too, don't you?"
XD you do!
She smiled warmly at him. He must be a child, if not at least having the mind of one. He didn't seem afraid of her, merely he seemed terribly shy.
Yaaay I will now prance around and shower myself with confettii
"Well, trolls can, uh, be out in the daytime, but the sun is so bright, most of us sleep when it's up. Why can't you, um, be out in it? Or... exist, under it."
XD WHEE! Don't forget the soap though.
