The Outsiders: Meeting 2

It was going to be their second meeting, and she already had an idea from Beastboy that he'd drummed up some interest in some the newly pod popped. So she'd been making alterations to the Outsider headquarters all day, from checking out the intercom and monitors Billy fixed (she needed Alex's help for that) to helping to set the new carpet in the lobby to preparing the pool for the training session. It was absolutely important that today grow well: she was going to tell the group she was trying to petition Leon to get them more involved in missions. Even if he said no, there were chances that they as individuals would be pulled into some dangerous situation and then all that training WOULD come in handy, wouldn't it? Either way the training would be coming in handy, as would meeting the people that would come to the second meeting. In a way, the second meeting was more important than the first: the second told you who was staying, who hadn't just popped in for the snacks and a few laughs. She still had those of course: chips and dip and a few sandwiches were already set up for people who were hungry.

As for her, all of this work had already made her really sweaty and stinky, so she was taking a dip in the pool to clean herself off, careful to only do so in the shallow part of the water reserved for small kids: once she was good and clean, she would flush that water out, and fill it with clean water again. For now, she wanted to make sure everything went perfectly. Of course, she was also nude for this, so she figured if Beastboy dropped in now, she'd have to dry off pretty quickly.

So far though: room were all clean, conference room was a-okay and the lobby was spotless. For the moment she could relax. She'd be ready in a few minutes.

Peter was sitting on the wall, sipping from a mug of coffee, watching everyone else file in. If anyone actually asked who we was, he'd gladly introduce himself, but just blurting one out wasn't really his style unless he was channeling Spidey.

Katara frowned. "Well, I wouldn't quite say that. I mean, Zuko of all people should know that being able to be versatile in what you know so you can adapt to several situations is a good thing. Things are unpredictable."

She sighed, shaking her head. "But its okay if you don't go anyway. Your talent might be something else, you know?"

It's slightly difficult to introduce yourself when you are obscured by the lugging of a giant object.

A large green crystal flame, easily four times the size of an average human, is floating into the lobby on its own. How it got inside the building is a hazardous tale involving many obscure windows and difficult hallway descents.

But it was there now, finally lowered to the ground by an exhausted but happy Starfire.

"Friends, I bring you a gift for our lobby."

Alex continued to play with Alice, "I-it is, b-but I figured, that i-it'd be g-good ta not only need ta r-rely on my shadows f-for protection. I-I don' wanna do anythign without Zuko s-saying it's okay, i-in regards ta training with others though. H-he seems pretty strict."

Yes, Alex is thoroughly terrified of his teacher, even though their only lesson so far went surprisingly well. Then again, it didn't take much to make Alex scared.

Oh, a girl and her partner! Color Starfire intrigued. The alien girl made her way over to the pair, bursting with welcoming energy.

"Hello new teammates! I welcome you to the Outsiders. Are you well?"

Hikari smiled. "Yeah, I'm doing okay. And thanks. How are you?"

Tailmon just stretched for the moment. "I'm doing okay myself."

Vita nodded to Katara, who didn't seem bad to her. So, said intermediate exercises were supposed to add a few monsters? That probably was similar to the way they had used drones for that purpose at home.

"I have some ideas already." She answered, ready to go into more detail later, after Katara was done with Maydril (Vita wasn't that rude, after all). It'd really depend on the people and what kind of abilities they had.

"It's good to see all of you here," Katara began. "I know that when you ask for a first meeting a lot of people come, but you really start to learn who;s staying by the second meeting. Still, I won't say that for certain: I know there are people who probably couldn't make it.

"For you new people, please take a look around: you'll notice that others here are varied, although most of us have the similarity of being younger than the people on the ship. I don't know if the adults do it because they're afraid of us getting hurt, or because they simply think we're too much trouble. That was part of the reason we formed in the first place: we wanted to be the opposite of that idea, of kids and teenagers doing their own thing and avoiding things like responsibility and accountability. We like any adult on the ship, have to answer to each other and our own actions. More importantly, I want us to send a clear message: The Outsiders are a family, and we look out for each other. We're all from different parts of the universe, yet our goals are the same: stopping the Ohm and promoting awareness about the lack of harmony on the ship. Together, we can help be a formidable force: apart, we'll fall. Some of us who've been here a long time can attest to that."

She looked over to Beastboy. They talked about this enough that she knew he could deliver the other part of their speech: the training, the distinction between fighting members and non-fighting members of the Outsiders, and what activities they'd do when they weren't fighting.

"She's all yours, Beastboy," she said quietly to him.

"Together?" Beastboy supplied helpfully before feeling a slight draft.

With a yelp he shape shifted into frog form diving back into the pool to retrieve his suit, only surfacing when it was back on, his face practically glowing red.

"Um...I'm totally cool never mentioning this ever again if you're cool with it." He mumble sheepishly.

"Uh, sure. I'm Vita, I came from those stupid slime pots recently."

Had she really scared him? "Uhm, you don't have to worry about me."

Alex smiled a bit, "G-glad I'm n-not the only o-one who's t-taken a d-dislikin' to the ship." He scratched at the back of his head, forcing himself to relax a bit more, "I-I j-just... I-I'm not the g-greatest w-with people..." His heart was racing, and had he been standing, he likely would have ran, but now that he was in a conversation, he was trying rather hard to relax and not be so afraid of everyone.

Alice, on the other hand, showed no fear at all. She chittered happily and lifted on her back legs to sniff at Vita. Alex put out his hand and she climbed into it as he introduced himself, "I-I'm A-Alex. C-came out a wh-while back." Carefully he lifted Alice and held her out to Vita, "Th-this is A-Alice. Sh-she popped w-with me."

Though Alex was speaking of her as if she was a person, it seemed that she was, in fact, nowhere near as intelligent as a human.

"This and that," replied Ben as he picked up some food and munched on it. "I've been looking after my kid and mom."

"And trying not to flip out and scream." added Ben.

"Training is always good. More is better," Maydril said. No need to be hard on the half-elf, she'd do it all by herself.

"I am not entirely sure where I should be starting though. I am better with fighting than I am with my magic, though eventually they are supposed to go hand in hand."

"I am well! My new teammates will be wonderful to meet."

She was quite happy to address Tailmon as well. " I am glad. May I introduce us? I am Starfire, and I am pleased to meet you."

She sure looked it too.

AFter having a moment to recover, Katara had no choice but to laugh. It wasn't at Beastboy's expense (or at anything she's een, if he was wondering), but because of the situation itself. By the time he's come up, Katara has dried off and is starting to get her norrmal clothes on.

"I think we both just fell into som bad situations," Katara said, "though you'd think I'd know better after what happened before. Too many weird things happen with my clothes."

It was true: Negi could attest to that.

"Really, don't worry. I won't bite or hit you with my hammer unless I got a reason to!"

...You know, Vita kinda was glad that, for one, the reaction wasn't 'oh, cute *pet Vitas head' but this was kinda bad in the other direction.

"Uhm..."

She carefully extended her hand so the rat could sniff at it - that was what he wanted, right?

Peter soon has company, in the form of a shy troll who parks himself against the wall nearby. He's never been one for mingling, but he told Katara he'd show and didn't want to disappoint. He glances at Peter and nods to him.

"Uh, hey."

"Hey yourself." replied Peter with a lazy salute.

"Name's Peter Parker. You?"

Tavros, uh, Tavros Nitram."

He twiddles his claws and tries to think of where to take the conversation from here. Hoo boy. Awkwardness, thy name is Tavros.

As Alice set about licking Vita's fingers and trying to nibble at her nails as Alex shied away. That was a bit too close to what his father would say.

'But she isn't Father,' he reminded himself.

He awkwardly pulled himself to his feet, standing at more of 5'5" than his full height. "s-so," he went on, eyeing her hammer, "y-you're j-joining?"

Alice only paused briefly as Alex stood, quickly returning to her grooming of th girl's fingers.

"Sounds like a story to me! Tell me and I'll tell you about the time Starfire and I were hypnotized by our clothes and the rest of the team had to strip us naked in the middle of the city to save us from ourselves." He climbed out of the pool this time holding onto his shorts.

Vita had to look up to him now, and ocassionally glanced back to what the rat was doing (the rat better not bite her!). She also noticed that he was eying her weapon.

"Don't worry about Graf Eisen, really. Neither me nor he will do you any harm, really."

...And then, to show this, the weapon actually spoke in a metallic, somewhat enthusiastic male voice. *

Yup, Vita's hammer was capable of speech, among other things. Well, speech in Ancient Belkan, but most people seemed to understand it fine.

"I'm not actually joining, I'm with the magical department. But I'm going to help you guys out in the free time, because I like what your leaders seem to be doing."

She chuckled to herself. "So I'm helping Haku get his river all made up, and my friend, Negi Springfield, decides to lend a hand. Noe I don't know if you know much about Negi, but he is a wizard. Anyway, we're working when suddenly he sneezes: innocent enough, right? Wrong. All my clothes come flying off, and the top it off he fall on each other RIGHT when a friend of his happens to stop by. I swear, I couldn't have felt more awkward. At least I KNOW you."

She grinned. "I think you can let go of the shorts now, Beastboy."

Katara sees Starfire (how could she miss her?) carrying what looked like a green crystal fire into the building. She isn't quite sure what to say but she's sure this is a sign of respect where she's from, so Katara eyed the flame carefully.

"What is this, Starfire?" She asked, quietly awed by the gesture.

Starfire flicked at her brow with a tiny smile, gliding over to greet Katara.

"It is a simple gift, one that I hope will bring peace and happiness to our group. The powers of my people are fueled by emotions, so our light carries these emotions---righteousness, fury, confidence, strong will. I believe it will bring us luck to share a light fueled by hope."
