Setsuna didn't stay long at the Meet n' Greet. He mostly milled about in the background, listening to a handful of conversations here and there. He wasn't sure what to make of the whole spiel about worlds having been destroyed, but he'd discover the truth about that in time. He had more important things to worry about.

Eventually, he managed to pick up several key words, being "Hangar" and "Suits", and he figured he'd find his Gundam there, or some clue about where they took it.

He rushed there, finding it open for anyone to access. He wandered through, looking around at the various vehicles, planes, and craft. He eventually spotted something that made his jaw drop, though.

Exia was there, fully repaired, but lacking a GN drive to power it. Not surprising, considering that the 00 Gundam was right next to it (which contained both Exia's and 0 Gundam's GN Drives), complete with the 0-Raiser already docked to it. But what was shocking was the number of similar yet different mobile suits surrounding both of his.

"...other... Gundams?"

For someone who practically worshiped his mobile suit, and knew there were only a mere handful even remotely like it, this was definitely a shock. Though, upon a slightly closer inspection, he noticed that none of the others had GN Drives of their own. Were these true Gundams from other worlds? Or were those mere knock offs of his own?

"How is this possible?"

There is one thing Kira is known for, and that is his resolve. So if one Gundam Jesus has a soul-piercing gaze, Kira is going to meet it unflinchingly. "Lacus did," he answered in response. "It was made for me to use."

"Lacus?" There was a quirk of an eyebrow.

"What do you use it for?"

"The head of the Clyne Faction and Terminal," that was all Kira was going to say. "I use it to fight. To defend people who can't defend themselves."

Clyne Faction? A political group? So what did that make Kira?

"You're a soldier of some sort?" There was slight change in his tone at that, enough to convey that he didn't think highly of the idea. Gundams should never be in the hands of the military or the politicians.

"No," Kira shook his head. "Not anymore."

"The cause I fight for is the one I choose for myself."

Setsuna narrowed his eyes at Kira. There was something about this guy that bugged him. ~~Jesus envy, perhaps? An innate Coordinator/Innovator rivalry?~~

"And you think that makes you worthy of piloting a Gundam?"

If Setsuna's irritation was shared, Kira didn't give any sign of it. After all, with Shinn and Yzak he'd had more than his share of brusque pilots. ~~It was definitely the Jesus envy.~~

"What do you mean 'worthy'? Even if I have the intent and the will to protect people, can I really do that without having the power to do so as well? If we must fight, we need a sword."

"A Gundam isn't a tool, it's not something you pick up and put down whenever it conveniences you. It's more than a way to take lives or save them. A Gundam, a true Gundam, has the power to unite the world and shape the future of a planet and a people.

"Tch. A sword." He all but spat the word back in Kira's face. "I am Gundam." He looked up at the Strike Freedom, then back at Kira.

"What are you?"

"No, it's a weapon of war. How we use it is up to us." Kira shook his head. "People use mobile suits to destroy and to kill. I choose to use mine to defend."

He was a Gundam? What did he mean by that, Kira wondered?

"I'm Kira Yamato, and I'm a computer engineer. I'm not anybody special."

HERESY! BLASPHEMY!

Okay, not really. And even if Setsuna did feel that way, outside of looking mildly annoyed, there was no other outward indication as to what he was thinking.

Really, he was confused by Kira. A not-quite-soldier in a Gundam who didn't seem to realize what he had right there.

"Then you don't deserve to pilot a Gundam."

"It was given to me," Kira replied quietly. "Without a pilot, it's a sword and shield that can't do anything. We share our power."

He paused for a moment. "Why do you call it a Gundam, too? I thought I was the only one who used that nickname."

That got a raise of an eyebrow. Setsuna looked over at Exia, particularly at the spot where GN-001 Gundam Exia was laser etched into the leg of the machine.

"Why would I call it anything else?"

Kira followed his gaze. So that was just what they were called, then...

"In my world, they're just called G-series mobile suits. I'm the only one who calls them Gundams based on the OS. So that's what they're called where you're from?"

"G-Series?" What kind of world was he from?

"They are Gundams. They aren't mass produced." Having a psuedo GN-drive didn't make a mobile suit a Gundam.

"The G-series was the first group of mobile suits to use a Gundam OS. They aren't mass-produced, either." Kira looked back up at his Freedom. "The Freedom is one of a kind."

Setsuna looked at the Freedom again, then back at Kira. Either what he had wasn't a true Gundam... or it was a true Gundam, and Kira didn't know what that meant.

Either way, that wasn't something he'd see here. He'd have to see it on the battlefield.

"We'll see."

"What we see is often changed by what we want to see, isn't it?"

That was an interesting question. He thought for a moment, before answering.

"No, I don't think so. I think some people only see what they want, and others have the power to see the world for what it really is."

"But how are you to know which one you are? Nobody thinks they're being deluded."

"You think I'm deluded?" Which, really, Setsuna's sanity was definitely questionable at times. Not that he'd ever admit to such a thing.

"I didn't say that," Kira shook his head. "Only that... it's easy to have convictions. It's harder to know whether they're the right ones to have."

"What I believe is right." And this was said with all the conviction of a man who knew he was right.

"Everyone thinks that," Kira replied, though his tone was as quiet as it ever was. "Then it just... comes down to the actions you take."

"Like I said, we'll see."

He'll be keeping an eye on you, Kira Yamato.

A nod. "I guess we will." The feeling is mutual!
