Peace of Mind [Open]
One of the few downsides of having brain powers was that you really couldn't let your mind wander. This held true, even for Julian. Despite his normally flippant and flirty attitude, he always kept his powers on a very tight leash.
Perhaps that was part of the reason for the attitude to begin with. He had to restrain his powers, so maybe he let personality run wild to compensate.
It's possible, but that was neither here nor there.
Still, even he needed to relax that part of his mind every now and again. He had a lot on his mind anyway, some decompressing would do him some good.
He could have chosen a sensorium, but elected for a rather quiet spot in the city instead and let his powers uncork. There was no explosion, no sudden lifting of buildings, or anything nearly as destructive as that. Just a strange green glow as energy started to pour out of him, slowly swirling around him in a free flowing current. He allowed himself to be enveloped by it, to float in it, and to relax that way for just a little while.

And he did.

Kon went to pry his hands free.

Actually, Kon could overpower him, but Julian was using enough energy to make him work for it. But before Kon could break free, Julian gave him a parting gift.
A tk-enhanced noogie!

He tried to fix his hair, which included trying to make the hair-swoopy going away, but it wouldn't straighten out. the swoopy was there to stay.
Eventually, Kon floated away on his back, lazily, leaning back on his hands like he was chilling on the beach.
"So what's eating you?"
He can just tell, okay?
no subject
Under different circumstances, he'd probably deny that anything was wrong, but it's not like Kon would actually believe him.
"Sofia and I broke... up." He honestly wasn't sure if that was the right term to use, really. "Not that we were every really together to begin with, but... it's a long story." But one that seems to have ended.
"The mess with the clone still bothering you?" Julian furrowed his eyebrows as a somewhat random thought hit him. "Does she have a name?"
no subject
Floating back towards Julian, he said, "As for the clone thing, she doesn't have a name. She should, but you know, before anyone goes naming her, we kinda need to get people to treat as something other than a brisket first. Kal says the Council's arguing all over the place about it and from the sound of it, they just don't freakin' get it. Not that they could. Even with Kal, I had to tell him stuff about being a clone I've never told him before."
no subject
"Or about this mess with the clone, to be honest. Though you'd think that forcibly keeping anything alive just so you can strip its organs for on demand replacement would violate every code of ethics ever conceived."
no subject
Kon sat up again.
"The part that sticks in my craw is they're all caught up over whether a clone with an undeveloped brain like that can be a person or not."
That got a not-so-casual shrug.
"And that was me. Before I got my programming, I was just...a teenage baby waiting for the whole world to open up. Total blank slate. The programming is the first thing I remember."
no subject
"Have you explained any of this to anyone besides Kal?"
no subject
Kon pushed a hand through his hair.
"I'm not really that hopeful, to be honest."

"And then you wonder how long until they decide its okay to hook you up to a machine and yank out your liver."
no subject
But it wasn't just about the law.
"Still, mostly? I'm worried about her. Us clones? We stick together when we can. When I worked at Cadmus, I tried to look out for other clones, make things better for them, or at least make them less bad. I don't really know what's best for this girl, but I do know her being treated like a person is how it should be. They should be worrying about the most humane thing to do for her, not whether or not she's property."
Question of the hour.
"Why is it that a quirk of the genes is enough for some people to decide people aren't people?"
no subject
"If I knew, life would have been so much easier for me."
no subject
Onto the depressing girlfriend stuff.
Kon floated by and nudged Julian's arm.
"You are gonna be okay, right?"
About the ex-thing?
no subject
"Yeah, I'll be fine. There was... a lot of unfinished business between me and her. Now that it's finished I think I can finally let go now."
no subject
He added, "And hey, there's no shortage of hot chicks on board."
That, oddly enough, he hadn't tried to date.
