Who knew eating could be so dangerous? [Second part is open]
Alex was being carried to the med-bay by Matt with Maydril's help.
The teen was bleeding from countless cuts on his skin, though his clothes showed nothing beyond usual use, and stains from the bleeding. His breathing was shallow, and his pulse rapid and weak.
Something had clearly gone wrong, very wrong, and they needed a doctor stat.
[OOC: First bit is closed to just May, Matt, Samuel Henderson, and Alex. The second part if for any of Alex's friends, or anyone who happens to be in the med-bay or otherwise has some interest in visiting Alex. He'll be there overnight, but he might get a bit cranky about late-night visitors, while he's trying to sleep and all...]

But he was in one of the rear labs, looking over some information he'd gathered about Alex's state. He heard some people come in, and got up to check out the situation. He recognized Alex immediately, and swept in to inspect the damages. "Who can tell me what happened?" he asked. He looked more in-charge than he felt. There was flatness in his voice, and he was unable to hide how distracted he felt.
Re: [closed]
The man's eyes were still shadowed by darkness but there was a crackling sensation around him, like ozone from heavy electrical use.
Re: [closed]
"Please, sir, do you think there is something you can do for him?"
Re: [closed]
Sam had taken charge of the worst of the wounds, packing on some gauze and leaning on it with his full weight.

Re: [closed]
Dutifully, she plucked out the box of bandages and carried them over to the man. "Here you are, Doctor," she said, and offered them to him.
Re: [closed]
Alice was extremely upset about this, and had taken to grooming Alex's ear. It was something Sam was probably used to seeing her do, since Alex's stress levels went through the roof every time he was around the doctor, and Alice was always doing her darnedest to calm Alex down.
Sorry so slow guys!
"Thank you," he said to Maydril when she brought the box, and began to pack more gauze onto the larger wounds. "I need you to lean on these with all of your weight," he said to her. "Put some gloves on first." He had one hand each on two of the larger wounds to staunch the bleeding. He nodded toward the box of gloves on the counter nearby.
I'm slow too. We can be slow together.
Slow club? I'm in.

"You've a headful of Wrackspurts. No wonder you're in here," she says. It's hard to tell whether she's making light of the situation or not--evidence points to her actually believing in the functionality of the Spectrespecs and the existence of Wrackspurts, so for all we know, she may actually be commenting on Alex's alleged infestation of cranial creatures, rather than being silly.
no subject
"I'm g-glad ta see you, Luna. What are W-Wrackspurts? A-and c-can I ask, what are those glasses y-you're wearing?"
Of course, that was the first thing he asked, but the first thing he noticed was how nice she looked in that dress. The thought made him turn a bright pink, flushing even his ears.
no subject
"Wrackspurts are invisible creatures that float through your ears and make your brain go fuzzy," she says matter-of-factly. "It would explain your lack of certainty in day-to-day life. And the glasses are called Spectrespecs. They make Wrackspurts and other cloaked, magical creatures visible. I can help you get rid of the Wrackspurts if you'd like, though I don't think we should try anything for a few days--you look awful. And flushed. Are you feeling over warm?" She pauses, tucking a few curls behind her ear. "What...happened?"
Incertitude is evident in the tilt of her eyebrows, and as she conjures a chair with a distracted flick of her wand, her seated proximity to his cot evinces a potentially unconscious level of concern, though...considering her rather frequent swallowing and her increasing discomfort, she's quite aware of her concern and her proximity to his cot. She'll probably turn pink soon, herself, even as she frowns.
no subject
At her other concerns, he goes quite red, turning his ears a wonderful magenta, "N-no, I'm okay... I just... Well, remember I was telling you about how I c-can get r-really hurt if I eat a shadow that's stronger than me?"
He let the question hang, hoping that she would figure it out. If he had passed out before he had swallowed that pain, well, he had a distinct feeling that he wouldn't be here talking to Luna right now.
no subject
"Did you know that it was stronger than you? When you...ate it?" She leans forward, her hands inching unconsciously towards his, fingers choosing instead to clutch at the sheet. Much as she's thought about it, trying to make herself used to the idea, the concept of his powers still doesn't sit quite right with her. It rings too close to Dementors for her comfort, though really, she knows that Alex is nothing like a Dementor. For one thing, he's much better looking, a thought which turns her cheeks even pinker.
no subject
He looked away from Luna guiltily, "Y-yeah... He was... well, we were in the s-sensoriums, and h-he overran the safety protocol, so, well, he c-coulda died if I d-didn't so anything... So, well, I c-couldn't just leave him..."
He twisted his hand in the sheets in his guilt, unintentionally pulling Luna's hand closer. He swallowed, not wanting to meet her eyes. He could see her worry, and it killed him that he had caused it.
no subject
Still, she pulls a smile onto her face fairly quickly after that, pulling her hands back into her lap.
no subject
"I-I'll be okay though. I'll recover." He smiled and turned back to Luna, "And I'm sure I'll get better faster with you. And even the Doctor and Katara. I'm really glad I've made friends. I'm sorry to make you all worry though..."

The boy wasn't too hard to miss in any case, and she curiously peered over at Alex without saying a word.

His little black pet rat, Alice, peaked her head out from under the covers to see who had gotten her master's attention.

"How did you end up here?"
no subject
He smiled a little more, "What a-about you? Are you visiting?"
no subject
Yeah, that probably came off a little creepier than she had wanted it to be.

"Depends! I've built so many since I was a kid I've lost count, but I'm pretty versatile! Of course being a Black Hole Commanding Officer, a lot of my late childhood and teenager years were spent making weapons for wars. Neotanks, Stealth Fighters, Black Bombs, Black Submarines we have a theme going on, teehee. Oh oh! and my favorite of all time! One day, Sturm asked me to build him a 500 foot tall death ray. It was the best! Of course, with my genius it was doable. Just too bad the Allied Nations destroyed it."
