It was no Enterprise, but it would do for now

With no layout of the ship to go by, and no escort for now, Picard was winding his own way through the strange living ship, learning and memorizing the hallways and doors, teaching himself where every section led, and what awaited at the end of each corridor. It was difficult work, but it gave the older captain something to do to keep himself occupied while the current command staff began the easy transition between COs.

"Certainly a remarkable ship," Picard remarked, running one hand against a wall curiously. "I've little doubt her crew is equally remarkable, if half of what Captain Bennet says is true."

"Fff, yeah, remarkable." Jack comes up from one of the side halls, a datapad perched in the crook of his left arm. "Remarkably weird."

Javert had been doing wandering of his own, avoiding the overcrowded areas and attempting to build a map of the ship in his mind, unused to the feeling of being lost. He certainly hadn't been expecting to run into an older man who, like himself, seemed to be cataloging the hallways of Stacy.

He wasn't quite sure what to say; he had never gotten the hang of greetings.

"...You're new, I suppose. Again." It wasn't the best sort of 'Hello, fancy seeing you here', but it was the best he'd get.

"Holy crap! You're, you're-" wags made a squeeing sound that no self-respecting Garou should make. "Captain Picard!"

"Well," Picard replied, turning to face the young man, "Weird is what I joined Starfleet to see. To delve into the unknown and emerge once more. To seek out new life, new knowledge, and new wisdoms." Smiling wryly, he rested his hand against the odd wall.

"It may hold me prisoner, but still I find myself ... fascinated."

"I am not familiar with a Captain Bennet, at least not within Starfleet." Spock remarks, regardless of whom he might be talking to, "Is he in command of this vessel?"

Picard laughed. "Yes, I'm a new arrival here, though I'm fairly certain this is my first time being here." He held out his hand to Javert, determined to be friendly and open to all he met until they did something to discourage such a response.

"I'm Captain Jean-Luc Picard, of the USS Enterprise."

"Yes," the captain responded, slightly wary. "But I'm afraid I don't know who you are. It would seem you have me at a disadvantage."

Jack shrugs in his most surly, teenagery manner. "I'm a busy guy. I don't have time to be stuck on the ship from planet meatlocker. I'm already behind as it is on all the things I need to get done."

Javert hesitated a moment before shaking his hand. Picard got points for being over the age of thirty.

"Inspecteur Javert, first class. With the Paris Prefecture."

One eyebrow lifted for just a moment at seeing Spock, but after having met Dr. McCoy and James Kirk (both far younger than Picard remembered them), seeing such a young Spock was of no great surprise. "Yes, she is," Picard replied, "though she's no Starfleet officer, and we are on no Starfleet vessel."

Picard raised his hand, splitting the four digits, two on each side, in a v-shape. "Peace and long life, Spock," he greeted warmly. "I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard, of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701E."

Nathan found it quicker at times to get around the ship by flying. He did spy the new Captain, and found a discreet place to land.

"They are, sir," he acknowledged, suddenly appearing in the corridor.

"Paris?" Picard replied, now much more amused, both by how he knew the inspector, and of the inspector's home. "I'm from France as well. A vineyard in La Barre. Have you heard of it?"

Children. They never knew when something truly fascinating was before them.

"This is a grand opportunity, at least, to learn something new. You should at least try to get what you can out of it."

"I had surmised as much. Starfleet would not allow such aesthetics, or even think to decorate their ships in such a manner as this at all."

Spock blinks once, about as much surprise as he will ever normally demonstrate. After all, Jim had already informed him of Stacy's time transcending capabilities.

"Greetings, Captain. That is an updated model, it is of no surprise that you are unfamiliar to me. Though, it seems, I am not so unfamiliar to you."

"Ah. Hello, there," the captain said, turning to regard Nathan. "Nathan Petrelli, am I correct?"

"Yes. You, James Kirk, Mr. Scott and Admir-- Doctor McCoy are all known to me. I and my crew have worked alongside all of you. Not to mention that most of the Enterprise's first five-year mission is required reading in Starfleet Academy anymore."

"I cannot say I have, no." He might just be a liiittle early for that. "But then, I do not know every part of France." His tone of voice implies that he should.

"It may be a little after your time, Inspector."

"Most things seem to be, in this place." Disgruntled does not even begin to cover his feelings; if anyone starts calling him 'primitive' again, he'll be most displeased, and no one wants to see someone of his size and temper unhappy. Especially not near a bridge.

"I meant no insult, Inspector," Picard consoled. "Time seems to be a little more fluid in this place."

"Admiral, Captain?" hey, lookie, he gets that eyebrow to raise, "Whilst I respect the Doctor's ability greatly, I had never thought him a candidate for Starfleet Command. I suppose congratulations are in order next time we meet."

He nodded in return, "It is, Captain. I guess this place isn't as strange for you is it?"

"None was taken." He's just usually angry. ..It takes a little getting used to, most likely.

"I suppose it is. Frankly, all of this is entirely foreign to me, and I dislike it, interesting constructions aside." He must be really, completely confused to go around actually admitting being in over his head like that.

The datapad makes a small noise and he glances down at it. Without explanation, Jack pokes at it a couple of times.

"Okay, I'll admit it was kinda cool after the fighting part was over. Then it stopped being cool and started sucking," he says as he does.

"To be fair, Spock, the Admiral was one hundred and thirty seven years old when he was aboard the Enterprise. And you, Spock, what do you remember before arriving here?"
