Game Over, Man [Part 2]

In the complex, deeper into it near the core, several of the away team were all strung up near each other, around a clutch of disgusting looking eggs. Two appeared to have already been hatched. The rest were waiting. They were bound to the walls by slime and ick, some sort of substance spit up by the creatures that may as well have been quick-dry cement.

Outside the complex, the rest of the away team had made it to the ship--only to find it damaged. Acid spit up by one of the creature had burned through part of the hull and into important inner workings. They would need someone mechanically inclined, that understood electrical work, to fix it like Jamie--uh oh.

Well, that was a problem wasn't it.

It was time for the one group to try to survive, and the other group to figure out what to do about their missing comrades.

"Yub yub!" Kettch hefted his blaster rifle enthusiastically and stepped forward, up to Stoick. "We'll find them! The spirits will help us find your son, warrior Stoick! You'll have my eyes and ears." He put a hand on the hilt of his knife in it's sheathe hanging from his plantsuit-material belt, "And my knife!"

Only one course of action, and now she had specific orders on how to carry it out. What more did a Zentraedi need?

Well, besides her weapons, of course. Hap Suriz hoisted her grenade launcher and moved to the shuttle entrance. With the engineers no longer close at hand she intended to get some good use out of it.

< I actually have a couple of other nighttime morphs...but house cat is too small. Cheetah is good, but if I have to turn on the speed, I'll get tired fast. And raccoon, no way. I have the polar bar and a dog morph, which have good noses, but I think bat is my best option. I can stay in the air at least. >

Stoick glanced down at Kettch appreciatively. Good comrades were hard to find in a village, let alone on a ship filled with people he hadn't grown up with.

"Thank you," he said softly. And then: "I think it would be best if we go now. The sooner we move out, the quicker we'll know what we need."

Not that he was against a good plan, but he'd prefer to be on move. After all, there was no telling what was happening to those who had been captured.

"Bat, then. I want you and Setsuna's constructs as scouts. They only seemed to be concerned with humanoids," Kang stuffed the map into his belt. "We go in two minutes."

He looked at Stoick and motioned towards the back of the ship, away from the others, "I need to speak with you briefly."

Stoick had been as anxious as the others to get out there, so when Kang motioned him to the back of the ship, he couldn't help but feel like they were taking a step backwards.

But, he followed Kang to the back of the ship anyway, though it was obvious he wasn't pleased.

"What about?"

"I know he's your son. I have children of my own, so believe me when I say I know how you feel. You need to be careful to not let your personal feelings cloud your judgment, though," Kang kept his voice low, to ensure that no one else could hear.

Stoick nodded, a bit surprised by Kang's admission of having kids. But even that wouldn't distract him from the issue at hand.

"I won't let my personal feelings cloud my judgment for destroying those Odin-cursed creatures, but Hiccup...he's all I have." He paused briefly before adding. "I can promise you that I won't lose my head in battle. I never have. You have my word on that."

Kang's wings rustled. "I will do everything in my power to get Hiccup, and the others, out of there alive. You have my word on that."

Stoick frowned. "Hiccup is not your problem. Concentrate on the others, so you don't overtax yourself."

Kang hesitated slightly before nodding in response, scales clicking quietly, "Let's go. We're wasting time."
