Girls just wanna have fun [Closed, bendytimed to before Mole Plot]

Nura didn't really want to have an ocean in the sensoriums. Nor did she desire a little river. Something to swim in...but also to be able to relax -- as that was what the doctor had ordered her to do. Back home, there hadn't really been many large ocean to splash in, unless she counts the waters upon Naltor, but even those had been small in size. So she tries to summon to mind an image of the perfect get-away...and she remembers the brochures she'd looked at when she and Querl were planning their honeymoon.

She remembers a place she'd looked at for more than just a little while, and decides that it is the perfect place for her and Katara to relax.

A little while later, the sensorium all made up, Nura, now wearing a very 31st century shiny silver swimsuit, appraises her work. There's a medium-sized waterfall gushing in the distance, pouring down into the large pool of water, surrounded by rocks that could be used like stepping stones.

Katara smiled. "If it were that easy, I could do it. With all of the things we have to do, I wonder if there isn't something I should give up on...but I think I'm beginning to understand what this might take."

She smiled to herself. "But enough about me, I'm still trying to figure that out. How about you and your husband?"

"Still silently missing him and wishing he were here. With me." Her smile weakens.

Katara put her hand to Nura's shoulder. "I know. Waiting for the person you care about is torture, and Aang and I aren't even married yet. It must be really hard for you. I'm sorry."

She gave the older woman a look of almost serene inquisitiveness. "Tell me about him."

Nura drags her hands across her face, smiling lightly. "When I first met him, I thought he was a nasshat. He insulted my innate racial gift, and the nickname 'Precognitive Flake' didn't help me warm up to him either."

Katara, who had already met Brainy on the ship before and had never heard the expression "nasshat," still understood exactly what Nura was talking about.

"I've met the Brainy on the ship before, I can definitely see that," Katara said, rolling her eyes. "So what changed your mind about him?"

"My mind didn't immediately changed," she continues. "I was always intrigued by him. And I think he thought the same for me." She smiles softly in remembrance. "We'd argue: the usual Illogical versus the Logical argument that was betwixt us. But I sort of enjoyed these arguments we had. I felt like the way he argued with me...was much different than the way he'd argue with Cosmic Boy -- who was team leader at the time -- or anyone else."

Katara understood immediately. In a way, it reminded her of Aang: when he first came out of the iceberg, she couldn't help but be drawn to him, see the world as he did, and gradually she realized that he cared about every place he was. The longer she spent with him, the more she wanted to really understand the things he went through, to help him whenever she could.

And gradually, that brought out her true feelings when it came to him too.

"So there was always something there," she said. "When did you both realize it?"

"We denied it for a while. I was actually looking at another boy -- a teammate of mine, who was very sweet.." she dips her toes in the water. "I was intrigued by Querl, but I didn't know if he felt the same..." she raises a finger. "Until... this one moment where his feelings were made clear by him doing something sweet himself."

She goes back, remembering the day very well. The day she died... "There was this man who wanted to change the galaxy the same way the Legion did...but his methods were much more violent and would hurt so many people...my precogging started to see little by little. I didn't understand why, and had started to become scared." She lifts her head. "But Querl consoled me. In his own way, he admitted he didn't dislike me, my power...he tried to cheer me up. It was very..."

Her hand fall to her lap. "...sweet."

She smiled. "I get that. I've seen how some people's presence can make everything different. There have been times where I was scared too: we were trying to stop a war, and the people after us were willing to kill us. Still, I know that Aang would fight for us, and he would do anything to save us. Querl sounds...amazing, actually."

She smiled. "We're both kinda lucky that way, I think."

"I suppose we are." She laughs happily.

She started to paddle around Nura now, smiling. "But tell me more. I think I might actually start to see Brainy in a different light, the more you keep talking about your husband. When did you realize that you two were meant to be?"

"Can't say I ever thought 'meant to be' at the time...but I did know that no sooner had our relationship begun, I was thinking 'I want to make this dream come true'."

Katara smiled. "That was what I meant. I have to admit...relationships on this ship are pretty hard. Most of the time, people are trying to adjust and there's no time to care about anyone with all of the fighting and training required. But I've seen it. Nanoha and Fate, Negi and Sasami, Setsuna and Konoka...I know it can happen, and I want it to for us. I...I love him. And I know that one day Querl will come from a pod sleep. He has to, because I don't believe anyone would leave their partner in a place like this without them being there."

She clenched her fist. "For me...I'll do whatever I can to help people on the ship. I just hope I can be with Aang during it all."
